A bibliometric analysis of the first twenty years of soft computing

© 2018, Springer International Publishing AG. Soft Computing was launched in 1997. Today, the journal is becoming twenty years old. Motivated by this anniversary, this article develops a bibliometric analysis of the journal in order to identify the leading trends of the journal in terms of publications and citations. The work considers several issues including the leading authors, institutions and countries. The study also uses a software to develop a graphical analysis. The results show a significant increase of the journal during the last years that has consolidated the journal as a leading one in the field

A bibliometric overview of how critical success factors influence on enterprise resource planning implementations

[EN] This work conducts bibliometric research into publications during the period 1999 to early 2018. The aim of this study is to help gain a better understanding of the publications covering CSF and ERP implementations all over the world. The study includes the most cited articles, most cited authors and most influential institutions as well as the most prolific countries. A database of 301 articles from 86 different institutions and 48 countries has been documented and analyzed. A Bibliometric Overview of the International Journal of Interactive Multimedia and Artificial Intelligence

The International Journal of Interactive Multimedia and Artificial Intelligence (IJIMAI) published its first issue ten years ago. Currently, IJIMAI is indexed in the important database Emerging Sources Citation Index. This paper aims to identify, through a mapping of science, those most relevant aspects of the structure of publications made during the first 10 years of IJIMAI. Using VOSviewer software, the structural maps of the IJIMAI publications are analysed according to techniques such as bibliographic coupling, co-citations and cooccurrence of keywords. In addition, the evolution of the publications, citations and an analysis of the most cited papers of the journal are presented. The results show that IJIMAI has experienced a remarkable growth of both publications and citations in the last five years. We also observe that IJIMAI does not only capture the attention of the Spanish scientific community, but also of emerging countries such as India and Iran and emerging Latin American countries such as Colombia. With a such increasing behaviour, it is expected in the coming years that IJIMAI will position itself among the best journals with similar scientific scope

Fifty years of fuzzy research: A bibliometric analysis and a long-term comparative overview

This paper presents a general overview and a long-term comparison in fuzzy logic research published between 1965 and 2017, obtained via Web of Science. The paper analyzes the growth, impact, trends and regional localization of fuzzy re-search. Conventional, sophisticated among others bibliometric indicators have applies. It aggregates the information according to different levels and criteria including researchers, publications, institutions, or countries. A global perspective have been provided through comparisons of regional aggregates and compound annual growth rates that strengthen the indicators applied in this article. The results permit to visualize the influence, importance, evolution and performance of the fuzzy research as well its contribution to, and transversality with other fields. The findings show that China continues to be a leader in number of contributions. There has been a recent relative decline in the United States contributions overall. Asian and African contribu-tions to scientific literature have grown noticeably. The results also provide a framework for the use of indicators adjusted to specific contexts and relevant information for future research

Facility layout problem: Bibliometric and benchmarking analysis

Facility layout problem is related to the location of departments in a facility area, with the aim of determining the most effective configuration. Researches based on different approaches have been published in the last six decades and, to prove the effectiveness of the results obtained, several instances have been developed. This paper presents a general overview on the extant literature on facility layout problems in order to identify the main research trends and propose future research questions. Firstly, in order to give the reader an overview of the literature, a bibliometric analysis is presented. Then, a clusterization of the papers referred to the main instances reported in literature was carried out in order to create a database that can be a useful tool in the benchmarking procedure for researchers that would approach this kind of problems

A Bibliometric Analysis and Visualization of the Scientific Publications of Universities: A Study of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences during 1992-2018

The evaluation of universities from different perspectives is important for their scientific development. Analyzing the scientific papers of a university under the bibliometric approach is one main evaluative approach. The aim of this study was to conduct a bibliometric analysis and visualization of papers published by Hamadan University of Medical Science (HUMS), Iran, during 1992-2018. This study used bibliometric and visualization techniques. Scopus database was used for data collection. 3753 papers were retrieved by applying Affiliation Search in Scopus advanced search section. Excel and VOSviewer software packages were used for data analysis and bibliometric indicator extraction. An increasing trend was seen in the numbers of HUMS's published papers and received citations. The highest rate of collaboration in national level was with Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Internationally, HUMS's researchers had the highest collaboration with the authors from the United States, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, respectively. All highly-cited papers were published in high level Q1 journals. Term clustering demonstrated four main clusters: epidemiological studies, laboratory studies, pharmacological studies, and microbiological studies. The results of this study can be beneficial to the policy-makers of this university. In addition, researchers and bibliometricians can use this study as a pattern for studying and visualizing the bibliometric indicators of other universities and research institutions

Visualization and evolution of the scientific structure of fuzzy sets research in Spain

Introduction. Presents the first bibliometric study on the evolution of the fuzzy sets theory field. It is specially focused on the research carried out by the Spanish comunity. Method. The CoPalRed software, for network analysis, and the co-word analysis technique are used. Analysis. Bibliometric maps showing the main associations among the main concepts in the field are provided for the periods 1965-1993, 1994-1998, 1999-2003 and 2004-2008. Results. The bibliometric maps obtained provide insight into the structure of the fuzzy sets theory research in the Spanish community, visualize the research subfields, and show the existing relationships between those subfields. Furthermore, we compare the Spanish community with other countries (the USA and Canada; the UK and Germany; and Japan and Peoples Republic of China). Conclusions. As a result of the analysis, a complete study of the evolution of the Spanish fuzzy sets community and an analysis of its international importance are presented.Introducción. Presenta el primer estudio bibliométrico sobre la evolución del campo de la teoría de conjuntos difusos. Se centra especialmente en la investigación llevada a cabo por la comunidad española. Método. Se proporcionan mapas bibliométricos mostrando las principales asociaciones entre los principales conceptos en el campo para los períodos de 1965-1993, 1994-1998, 1999-2003 y 2004-2008. Resultados. Los mapas bibliométricos obtenidos proporcionan conocimientos sobre la estructura de la investigación sobre teoría de conjuntos difusos en la comunidad española, visualizan los subcampos de investigación y muestran las relaciones existentes entre los subcampos. Ademñs, se compara la comunidad española con otros países (Estados Unidos y Canada; Reino Unido y Alemania; y Japón y República Popular China). Conclusiones. A single journal study : Malaysian Journal of Computer Science

Single journal studies are reviewed and measures used in the studies are highlighted. The following quantitative measures are used to study 272 articles published in Malaysian Journal of Computer Science, (1) the article productivity of the journal from 1985 to 2007, (2) the observed and expected authorship productivity tested using Lotka's Law of author productivity, identification and listing of core authors; (3) the authorship, co-authorship pattern by authors' country of origin and institutional affiliations; (4) the subject areas of research; (5) the citation analysis of resources referenced as well as the age and half-life of citations; the journals referenced and tested for zonal distribution using Bradford's law of journal scattering; the extent of web citations; and (6) the citations received by articles published in MJCS and impact factor of the journal based on information obtained from Google Scholar, the level of author and journal self-citation

Bibliometric Analysis of Sustainability Information Systems Research

As IS literature on Sustainability has evolved significantly, reviews of the literature tend to focus more on Green IT, and Green IS research and utilize a smaller body of literature. To help enhance understanding of the evolution of IS and Sustainability literature, this research examines an extensive body of knowledge. We used a comprehensive list of keywords to retrieve research related to Green IT, Green IS, and Sustainability IS. We searched for work beyond a limited list of outlets using the SCOPUS database with an extended timeframe. We then conducted a bibliometric analysis using text-mining tools to provide a clearer view of the field and its themes, thus it helps address what, where, and when questions about the nature of research in SIS literature, providing insights on what topics have been studied, where the research originated from, how the body of research has evolved over the years, and suggested future research
