Blockchain technology has emerged as a transformative solution for enhancing transparency and accountability across various dimensions of sustainable development. Given the limited exploration of Blockchain’s synergy with sustainable development goals, there exists a compelling rationale to undertake a bibliometric literature review aimed at identifying forthcoming research trajectories. Employing the ”Blockchain” AND ”Sustainable Development Goals” keywords, an extensive search was conducted across Scopus and Web of Science databases. This endeavor yielded a corpus of 271 articles published within the span of 2017 to 2023. Subsequent adherence to inclusion and exclusion criteria refined this collection to 183 documents for meticulous Bibliographic Analysis through the Biblioshiny application of the Bibliometrix R package. The study charts a promising trajectory characterized by upward trends in recent years, unveiling the most prolific authors, productive nations, frequency of keywords, thematic evaluation, and collaborative endeavors. Delving into the systematic literature review, the research introduces five discernible future trends, along with a comprehensive research framework designed to amplify the generalizability of findings to pertinent stakeholders. Keywords: blockchain, sustainable development goal, environmental challenges and bibliometric analysi

Numerous researchers have applied blockchain studies in many fields, but the scope is very large and there is no delimitation of new and emergent trends. The method used to better understand the evolution and impact of blockchain technology was a bibliometric analysis. A search was conducted at digital Elsevier’s database with a single keyword blockchain, and 23383 articles were collected. The study uses cluster analysis method, allowing to construct and visualize bibliometric networks and to build co-occurrences networks. The results indicate that there are positive correlations between countries, that China and the United States are part of the most influential cluster. Indicates also emerging developments in the areas of governance, industry, decision-making processes, management, internet of things, information security, and a new hot topic, energy.authorsversionpublishe

The present study is concerned with the emergence of Blockchain related technologies in terms of patenting activity. Blockchain has captured the attention of the public and research has intensified in this field over the last few years, making it a highly interesting topic of study for a patent analysis in order to obtain insight into the developments of this emerging technology. In this paper we present a unique methodology and exhaustive search strategy for identifying Blockchain patent documents by using a combination of specific keywords and patent classifications. This query was built in cooperation with subject matter experts of the European Patent Office (EPO). Our keyword set was then analysed by relevance and was prioritised. The set of specific relevant patent classifications was furthermore combined with keywords in order to exclude false positives. With our method- ology we present an exhaustive query for retrieving a highly relevant dataset of Blockchain related patents, extracted from the EPO databases that can be used for patent landscaping exercises or any other bibliometric analysis. In a case study we applied the search strategy to analyse worldwide Blockchain patenting from 2008 till 2018. The results are presented in this paper. The present article is based on a patent data study that was commissioned by the European Patent Office, Department 5.4.2.1 Patent Information research, with the aim of demonstrating to readers outside the disci- plines of patent analysis and Blockchain technologies, how patent in- formation can be used to gain insight and competitive advantages about a specific technological field. Additional bibliometric analysis, for the purposes of the present article, was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science Innovation and Universities under the framework R&D project “Detection of Spanish technology for connected Industry 4.0 in Euro- pean patent offices”

    Get PDF
The purpose of the paper is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of scientific literature on the use of blockchain technologies in accounting for the period 2013–2022 based on the use of a number of special methods and tools, including Scopus and WoS, VOSviewer, Publish or Perish, Google Trends, and Google Books Ngram Viewer. Based on the results of the bibliometric analysis of relevant scientific publications, a map of the relationships between the concepts of «blockchain» and «accounting» with other categories was formed, which allowed identifying seven clusters. Based on the results of the analysis of the evolutionary time block of blockchain technology research, it was possible to identify several main periods during which the main accents in this area changed. It has been proven that it was in 2020–2021 that the interest of researchers was directed to considering blockchains as tools for working with financial and accounting information. An analysis of the space-time dimension of bibliometric analysis in Ukraine showed that the publication activity of research on the use of blockchain technologies in accounting has intensified since the second half of 2021. Analysis using Google Books and Google Trends confirmed the absence of analogies in the dynamics of changes in search queries «blockchain» and «accounting». The use of bibliometric analysis tools allowed identifying the most relevant works by the searched terms. Relevance was mostly determined by the significance of the scientific work and the scientific cluster. On the basis of these works, key theses are presented, which will become the basis for further empirical research on the chosen topic
