    Extracción y análisis de características para identificación, agrupamiento y modificación de la fuente de imágenes generadas por dispositivos móviles

The presence of mobile devices with integrated cameras is growing at an unrelenting pace, resulting in the majority of digital images coming from this kind of device. Technological development not only facilitates the generation of these images, but also the malicious manipulation of them. Therefore, it is of interest to have tools that allow the device that has generated a certain digital image to be identified. The digital image source can be identified through the features that the generating device permeates it with during the creation process. In recent years most research on techniques for identifying the source has focused solely on traditional cameras. The forensic analysis techniques of digital images generated by mobile devices are therefore of particular importance since they have specific characteristics which allow for better results, and forensic techniques for digital images generated by another kind of device are often not valid. This thesis provides various contributions in two of the main research lines of forensic analysis, the field of identification techniques and the counter-forensics or attacks on these techniques. In the field of digital image source acquisition identification techniques, both closed and open scenarios are addressed. In closed scenarios, the images whose acquisition source are to be determined belong to a group of devices known a priori. Meanwhile, an open scenario is one in which the images under analysis belong to a set of devices that is not known a priori by the fo rensic analyst. In this case, the objective is not t he concrete image acquisition source identification, but their classification into groups whose images all belong to the same mobile device. The image clustering t echniques are of particular interest in real situations since in many cases the forensic analyst does not know a priori which devices have generated certain images. Firstly, techniques for identifying the device type (computer, scanner or digital camera of the mobile device) or class (make and model) of the image acquisition source in mobile devices are proposed, which are two relevant branches of forensic analysis of mobile device images. An approach based on different types of image features and Support Vector Machine as a classifier is presented. Secondly, a technique for the ident ification in open scenarios that consists of grouping digital images of mobile devices according to the acquisition source is developed, that is to say, a class-grouping of all input images is performed. The proposal is based on the combination of hierarchical grouping and flat grouping using the Sensor Pattern Noise. Lastly, in the area of att acks on forensic t echniques, topics related to the robustness of the image source identificat ion forensic techniques are addressed. For this, two new algorithms based on the sensor noise and the wavelet transform are designed, one for the destruction of t he image identity and another for its fo rgery. Results obtained by the two algorithms were compared with other tools designed for the same purpose. It is worth mentioning that the solution presented in this work requires less amount and complexity of input data than the tools to which it was compared. Finally, these identification t echniques have been included in a tool for the forensic analysis of digital images of mobile devices called Theia. Among the different branches of forensic analysis, Theia focuses mainly on the trustworthy identification of make and model of the mobile camera that generated a given image. All proposed algorithms have been implemented and integrated in Theia thus strengthening its functionality.Actualmente las imágenes digitales desempeñan un papel importante en nuestra sociedad. La presencia de dispositivos móviles con cámaras fotográficas integradas crece a un ritmo imparable, provocando que la mayoría de las imágenes digitales procedan de este tipo de dispositivos. El desarrollo tecnológico no sólo facilita la generación de estas imágenes, sino también la manipulación malintencionada de éstas. Es de interés, por tanto, contar con herramientas que permitan identificar al dispositivo que ha generado una cierta imagen digital. La fuente de una imagen digital se puede identificar a través de los rasgos que el dispositivo que la genera impregna en ella durante su proceso de creación. La mayoría de las investigaciones realizadas en los últimos años sobre técnicas de identificación de la fuente se han enfocado únicamente en las cámaras tradicionales. Las técnicas de análisis forense de imágenes generadas por dispositivos móviles cobran, pues, especial importancia, ya que éstos presentan características específicas que permiten obtener mejores resultados, no siendo válidas muchas veces además las técnicas forenses para imágenes digitales generadas por otros tipos de dispositivos. La presente Tesis aporta diversas contribuciones en dos de las principales líneas del análisis forense: el campo de las t écnicas de identificación de la fuente de adquisición de imágenes digitales y las contramedidas o at aques a est as técnicas. En el primer campo se abordan tanto los escenarios cerrados como los abiertos. En el escenario denominado cerrado las imágenes cuya fuente de adquisición hay que determinar pertenecen a un grupo de dispositivos conocidos a priori. Por su parte, un escenario abierto es aquel en el que las imágenes pertenecen a un conjunto de dispositivos que no es conocido a priori por el analista forense. En este caso el obj etivo no es la identificación concreta de la fuente de adquisición de las imágenes, sino su clasificación en grupos cuyas imágenes pertenecen todas al mismo dispositivo móvil. Las técnicas de agrupamiento de imágenes son de gran interés en situaciones reales, ya que en muchos casos el analist a forense desconoce a priori cuáles son los dispositivos que generaron las imágenes. En primer lugar se presenta una técnica para la identificación en escenarios cerrados del tipo de dispositivo (computador, escáner o cámara digital de dispositivo móvil) o la marca y modelo de la fuente en dispositivos móviles, que son dos problemáticas relevantes del análisis forense de imágenes digitales. La propuesta muestra un enfoque basado en distintos tipos de características de la imagen y en una clasificación mediante máquinas de soporte vectorial. En segundo lugar se diseña una técnica para la identificación en escenarios abiertos que consiste en el agrupamiento de imágenes digitales de dispositivos móviles según la fuente de adquisición, es decir, se realiza un agrupamiento en clases de todas las imágenes de ent rada. La propuesta combina agrupamiento jerárquico y agrupamiento plano con el uso del patrón de ruido del sensor. Por último, en el área de los ataques a las técnicas fo renses se tratan temas relacionados con la robustez de las técnicas forenses de identificación de la fuente de adquisición de imágenes. Se especifican dos algoritmos basados en el ruido del sensor y en la transformada wavelet ; el primero destruye la identidad de una imagen y el segundo falsifica la misma. Los resultados obtenidos por estos dos algoritmos se comparan con otras herramientas diseñadas para el mismo fin, observándose que la solución aquí presentada requiere de menor cantidad y complejidad de datos de entrada. Finalmente, estas técnicas de identificación han sido incluidas en una herramienta para el análisis forense de imágenes digitales de dispositivos móviles llamada Theia. Entre las diferentes ramas del análisis forense, Theia se centra principalmente en la identificación confiable de la marca y el modelo de la cámara móvil que generó una imagen dada.     Monitoring 3D vibrations in structures using high resolution blurred imagery

    This thesis describes the development of a measurement system for monitoring dynamic tests of civil engineering structures using long exposure motion blurred images, named LEMBI monitoring. Photogrammetry has in the past been used to monitor the static properties of laboratory samples and full-scale structures using multiple image sensors. Detecting vibrations during dynamic structural tests conventionally depends on high-speed cameras, often resulting in lower image resolutions and reduced accuracy. To overcome this limitation, the novel and radically different approach presented in this thesis has been established to take measurements from blurred images in long-exposure photos. The motion of the structure is captured in an individual motion-blurred image, alleviating the dependence on imaging speed. A bespoke algorithm is devised to determine the motion amplitude and direction of each measurement point. Utilising photogrammetric techniques, a model structure s motion with respect to different excitations is captured and its vibration envelope recreated in 3D, using the methodology developed in this thesis. The approach is tested and used to identify changes in the model s vibration response, which in turn can be related to the presence of damage or any other structural modification. The approach is also demonstrated by recording the vibration envelope of larger case studies in 2D, which includes a full-scale bridge structure, confirming the relevance of the proposed measurement approach to real civil engineering case studies. This thesis then assesses the accuracy of the measurement approach in controlled motion tests. Considerations in the design of a survey using the LEMBI approach are discussed and limitations are described. The implications of the newly developed monitoring approach to structural testing are reviewed

    Détection et dénombrement de la moyenne et grande faune par imagerie visible et infrarouge thermique acquise à l'aide d'un aéronef sans pilote (ASP)

    L’inventaire aérien est une approche pratique pour effectuer l’inventaire de la grande faune sur de grands territoires; particulièrement pour les zones peu accessibles. Toutefois, les limitations liées aux capacités de détection des observateurs, la coloration cryptique de certaines espèces fauniques et la complexité structurelle de certains habitats font en sorte que les inventaires ont généralement des biais qui sous-estiment la densité réelle de la population. Par ailleurs, peu d’études ont démontré la capacité d’effectuer la détection aérienne simultanée de plusieurs espèces. La détection multiespèce peut s’avérer utile pour les espèces qui se côtoient spatialement afin de connaître leur utilisation de l’espace, pour étudier la relation proie/prédateur et pour limiter les coûts à un seul inventaire. Cette pratique s’avère néanmoins trop exigeante pour les observateurs qui doivent déjà faire preuve de beaucoup de concentration pour détecter une seule espèce lors d’un inventaire aérien traditionnel. L’utilisation d’imagerie aérienne multispectrale acquise avec un aéronef sans pilote (ASP) représente une méthode potentielle pour la détection d’une ou plusieurs espèces fauniques. Ce projet de recherche consistait donc dans un premier temps à détecter, identifier et dénombrer à l’aide d’imagerie acquise avec un ASP et par traitements d’images les cerfs de Virginie (Odocoileus virginianus). Différentes combinaisons de bandes spectrales, méthodes d’analyses d’images et résolutions spatiales ont été testées pour déterminer la méthode la plus efficace pour la détection du cerf. Dans un deuxième temps, la meilleure méthode identifiée pour les cerfs a été utilisée et adaptée pour effectuer la détection simultanée des bisons d’Amérique (Bison bison), des daims européens (Dama dama), des loups gris (Canis lupus) et des wapitis (Cervus canadensis). L’inventaire de la faune a été réalisé au Centre d’observation de la faune et d’interprétation de l’agriculture de Falardeau à Saint-David-de-Falardeau, Québec, Canada. Les résultats démontrent que l’imagerie visible et infrarouge thermique avec une résolution spatiale de 0.8 cm/pixel combinée à une analyse d’images par objet constitue la combinaison la plus efficace parmi celles testées pour la détection des cerfs de Virginie. Tous les individus visibles à l’œil nu sur les mosaïques ont été détectés. Néanmoins, considérant l’obstruction visuelle causée par la canopée coniférienne, cette approche offre un taux de détectabilité moyen de 0.5, comparable aux inventaires aériens classiques. La complexité structurelle de l’habitat demeure ainsi un problème non résolu. Quant à l’analyse multiespèce, les bisons et les wapitis ont tous été détectés même en présence d’autres espèces comme l’autruche (Struthio camelus), le coyote (Canis latrans) et l’ours noir (Ursus americanus). Pour les daims et les loups, entre 0 à 1 individu par parcelle a été confondu avec les autres éléments du paysage tels que le sol. De plus, entre 0 à 2 individus par parcelle n’ont pas été détectés alors qu’ils étaient présents dans la ligne de vol. Non seulement cette approche a démontré sa capacité à détecter une ou plusieurs espèces, mais également son adaptabilité à cibler spécifiquement les espèces d’intérêts pour le gestionnaire et à ignorer celles qui ne sont pas ciblées. Ce projet a donc permis de valider le potentiel des ASP pour l’acquisition d’imagerie d’une qualité permettant l’extraction de données d’inventaires. Cela ouvre la voie à l’utilisation de ce type de plateforme d’acquisition pour des applications reliées à la gestion de la faune grâce à leur faible impact sonore et leur haut taux de revisite. Toutefois, la réglementation canadienne actuelle limite l’utilisation de ces appareils sur de faibles superficies. Il n’en demeure pas moins que la technologie peut être développée en attendant les futurs progrès du domaine des ASP et de la réglementation

    Exploiting Spatio-Temporal Coherence for Video Object Detection in Robotics

    This paper proposes a method to enhance video object detection for indoor environments in robotics. Concretely, it exploits knowledge about the camera motion between frames to propagate previously detected objects to successive frames. The proposal is rooted in the concepts of planar homography to propose regions of interest where to find objects, and recursive Bayesian filtering to integrate observations over time. The proposal is evaluated on six virtual, indoor environments, accounting for the detection of nine object classes over a total of ∼ 7k frames. Results show that our proposal improves the recall and the F1-score by a factor of 1.41 and 1.27, respectively, as well as it achieves a significant reduction of the object categorization entropy (58.8%) when compared to a two-stage video object detection method used as baseline, at the cost of small time overheads (120 ms) and precision loss (0.92).</p

    The benefits of an additional practice in descriptive geomerty course: non obligatory workshop at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade

    At the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, in the Descriptive geometry (DG) course, non-obligatory workshops named “facultative task” are held for the three generations of freshman students with the aim to give students the opportunity to get higher final grade on the exam. The content of this workshop was a creative task, performed by a group of three students, offering free choice of a topic, i.e. the geometric structure associated with some real or imagery architectural/art-work object. After the workshops a questionnaire (composed by the professors at the course) is given to the students, in order to get their response on teaching/learning materials for the DG course and the workshop. During the workshop students performed one of the common tests for testing spatial abilities, named “paper folding". Based on the results of the questionnairethe investigation of the linkages between:students’ final achievements and spatial abilities, as well as students’ expectations of their performance on the exam, and how the students’ capacity to correctly estimate their grades were associated with expected and final grades, is provided. The goal was to give an evidence that a creative work, performed by a small group of students and self-assessment of their performances are a good way of helping students to maintain motivation and to accomplish their achievement. The final conclusion is addressed to the benefits of additional workshops employment in the course, which confirmhigherfinal scores-grades, achievement of creative results (facultative tasks) and confirmation of DG knowledge adaption

    The contemporary design solutions are merging the boundaries between real and virtual world. The Landscape architecture like the other interdisciplinary field stepped in a contemporary technologies area focused on that, beside the good execution of works, designer solutions has to be more realistic and “touchable”. The opportunities provided by Virtual Reality are certainly not negligible, it is common knowledge that the designs in the world are already presented in this way so the Virtual Reality increasingly used. Following the example of the application of virtual reality in landscape architecture, this paper deals with proposals for the use of virtual reality in landscape architecture so that designers, clients and users would have a virtual sense of scope e.g. rooftop garden, urban areas, parks, roads, etc. It is a programming language that creates a series of images creating a whole, so certain parts can be controlled or even modified in VR. Virtual reality today requires a specific gadget, such as Occulus, HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR and similar. The aim of this paper is to acquire new theoretical and practical knowledge in the interdisciplinary field of virtual reality, the ability to display using virtual reality methods, and to present through a brief overview the plant species used in the design and construction of an intensive roof garden in a Mediterranean climate, the basic characteristics of roofing gardens as well as the benefits they carry. Virtual and augmented reality as technology is a very powerful tool for landscape architects, when modeling roof gardens, parks, and urban areas. One of the most popular technologies used by landscape architects is Google Tilt Brush, which enables fast modeling. The Google Tilt Brush VR app allows modeling in three-dimensional virtual space using a palette to work with the use of a three dimensional brush. The terms of two "programmed" realities - virtual reality and augmented reality - are often confused. One thing they have in common, though, is VRML - Virtual Reality Modeling Language. In this paper are shown the ways on which this issue can be solved and by the way, get closer the term of Virtual Reality (VR), also all the opportunities which the Virtual reality offered us. As well, in this paper are shown the conditions of Mediterranean climate, the conceptual solution and the plant species which will be used by execution of intensive green roof on the motel “Marković”
