A Time-independent Way to Probe D^0-\bar D^0 Mixing at Tau-charm Factories
mixing leads to the mass and width differences in the mass
eigenstates of and mesons (measured by parameters
and respectively), but their magnitudes cannot be reliably predicted
by the standard model. We show that it is possible to separately determine
and through {\it time-integrated} measurements of the
dilepton events of coherent decays on the resonance
at a -charm factory.Comment: 7 pages. Minor changes. (Phys. Lett. B in press
Evolution equations for slowly rotating stars
We present a hyperbolic formulation of the evolution equations describing
non-radial perturbations of slowly rotating relativistic stars in the
Regge--Wheeler gauge. We demonstrate the stability preperties of the new
evolution set of equations and compute the polar w-modes for slowly rotating
stars.Comment: 27 pages, 2 figure
Differential Regularization of a Non-relativistic Anyon Model
Differential regularization is applied to a field theory of a
non-relativistic charged boson field with
self-interaction and coupling to a statistics-changing Chern-Simons
gauge field. Renormalized configuration-space amplitudes for all diagrams
contributing to the 4-point function, which
is the only primitively divergent Green's function, are obtained up to 3-loop
order. The renormalization group equations are explicitly checked, and the
scheme dependence of the -function is investigated. If the
renormalization scheme is fixed to agree with a previous 1-loop calculation,
the 2- and 3-loop contributions to vanish, and
itself vanishes when the ``self-dual'' condition relating
to the gauge coupling is imposed.Comment: 22 pages in ReVTEX (with a plaintext PostScript figure appended at

U-spin breaking in CP asymmetries in B decays
U-spin symmetry predicts equal CP rate asymmetries with opposite signs in
pairs of and meson decays in which initial and
final states are related by U-spin reflection. Of particular interest are six
decay modes to final states with pairs of charged pions or kaons, including
and for which asymmetries have been reported
recently by the LHCb collaboration. After reviewing the current status of these
predictions, highlighted by the precision of a relation between asymmetries in
and , we perform a perturbative study of
U-spin breaking corrections, searching for relations for combined asymmetries
which hold to first order. No such relation is found in these six decays, in
two-body decays involving a neutral kaon, and in three-body decays to
charged pions and kaons.Comment: Expanded abstract, references updated, to be published in Physics

Separation of Attractors in 1-modulus Quantum Corrected Special Geometry
We study the attractor equations for a quantum corrected prepotential
F=t^3+i\lambda, with \lambda \in R,which is the only correction which preserves
the axion shift symmetry and modifies the geometry.
By performing computations in the ``magnetic'' charge configuration, we find
evidence for interesting phenomena (absent in the classical limit of vanishing
\lambda). For a certain range of the quantum parameter \lambda we find a
``separation'' of attractors, i.e. the existence of multiple solutions to the
Attractor Equations for fixed supporting charge configuration. Furthermore, we
find that, away from the classical limit, a ``transmutation'' of the
supersymmetry-preserving features of the attractors takes place when \lambda
reaches a particular critical value.Comment: 1+24 pages, 11 figures; v2: new section added; v3: change in title,

Modular Symmetries, Threshold Corrections And Moduli For Orbifolds
Coxeter orbifolds are constructed with the
property that some twisted sectors have fixed planes for which the six-torus
can not be decomposed into a direct sum with the
fixed plane lying in . The string loop threshold corrections to the
gauge coupling constants are derived, and display symmetry groups for the
and moduli that are subgroups of the full modular group . The
effective potential for duality invariant gaugino condensate in the presence of
hidden sector matter is constructed and minimized for the values of the moduli.
The effect of Wilson lines on the modular symmetries is also studied.Comment: QMW--TH--94/18, 12 page
