Survey: energy efficient protocols using radio scheduling in wireless sensor network
An efficient energy management scheme is crucial factor for design and implementation of any sensor network. Almost all sensor networks are structured with numerous small sized, low cost sensor devices which are scattered over the large area. To improvise the network performance by high throughput with minimum energy consumption, an energy efficient radio scheduling MAC protocol is effective solution, since MAC layer has the capability to collaborate with distributed wireless networks. The present survey study provides relevant research work towards radio scheduling mechanism in the design of energy efficient wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The various radio scheduling protocols are exist in the literature, which has some limitations. Therefore, it is require developing a new energy efficient radio scheduling protocol to perform multi tasks with minimum energy consumption (e.g. data transmission). The most of research studies paying more attention towards to enhance the overall network lifetime with the aim of using energy efficient scheduling protocol. In that context, this survey study overviews the different categories of MAC based radio scheduling protocols and those protocols are measured by evaluating their data transmission capability, energy efficiency, and network performance. With the extensive analysis of existing works, many research challenges are stated. Also provides future directions for new WSN design at the end of this survey
MIMO relaying UAVs operating in public safety scenarios
Methods to implement communication in natural and humanmade disasters have been widely discussed in the scientific community. Scientists believe that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) relays will play a critical role in 5G public safety communications (PSC) due to their technical superiority. They have several significant advantages: a high degree of mobility, flexibility, exceptional line of sight, and real-time adaptative planning. For instance, cell edge coverage could be extended using relay UAVs. This paper summarizes the sidelink evolution in the 3GPP standardization associated with the usage of the device to device (D2D) techniques that use long term evolution (LTE) communication systems, potential extensions for 5G, and a study on the impact of circular mobility on relay UAVs using the software network simulator 3 (NS3). In this simulation, the transmitted packet percentage was evaluated where the speed of the UAV for users was changed. This paper also examines the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication applied to drones and proposes a new trajectory to assist users experiencing unfortunate circumstances. The overall communication is highly dependent on the drone speed and the use of MIMO and suitable antennas may influence overall transmission between users and the UAVs relay. When the UAVs relaying speed was configured at 108 km/h the total transmission rate was reduced to 55% in the group with 6 users allocated to each drone.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Dynamic Resource Provisioning of a Scalable E2E Network Slicing Orchestration System
Network slicing allows different applications and
network services to be deployed on virtualized resources running
on a common underlying physical infrastructure. Developing
a scalable system for the orchestration of end-to-end (E2E)
mobile network slices requires careful planning and very reliable
algorithms. In this paper, we propose a novel E2E Network
Slicing Orchestration System (NSOS) and a Dynamic Auto-
Scaling Algorithm (DASA) for it. Our NSOS relies strongly on
the foundation of a hierarchical architecture that incorporates
dedicated entities per domain to manage every segment of the
mobile network from the access, to the transport and core
network part for a scalable orchestration of federated network
slices. The DASA enables the NSOS to autonomously adapt
its resources to changes in the demand for slice orchestration
requests (SORs) while enforcing a given mean overall time taken
by the NSOS to process any SOR. The proposed DASA includes
both proactive and reactive resource provisioning techniques).
The proposed resource dimensioning heuristic algorithm of the
DASA is based on a queuing model for the NSOS, which consists
of an open network of G/G/m queues. Finally, we validate the
proper operation and evaluate the performance of our DASA
solution for the NSOS by means of system-level simulations. This research work is partially supported by the European
