The HโI mass function of group galaxies in the ALFALFA survey
We estimate the H i mass function (HIMF) of galaxies in groups based on thousands of ALFALFA (Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA survey) H i detections within the galaxy groups of four widely used SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey) group catalogues. Although differences between the catalogues mean that there is no one definitive group galaxy HIMF, in general we find that the low-mass slope is flat, in agreement with studies based on small samples of individual groups, and that the 'knee' mass is slightly higher than that of the global HIMF of the full ALFALFA sample. We find that the observed fraction of ALFALFA galaxies in groups is approximately 22 per cent. These group galaxies were removed from the full ALFALFA source catalogue to calculate the field HIMF using the remaining galaxies. Comparison between the field and group HIMFs reveals that group galaxies make only a small contribution to the global HIMF as most ALFALFA galaxies are in the field, but beyond the HIMF 'knee' group galaxies dominate. Finally, we attempt to separate the group galaxy HIMF into bins of group halo mass, but find that too few low-mass galaxies are detected in the most massive groups to tightly constrain the slope, owing to the rarity of such groups in the nearby Universe where low-mass galaxies are detectable with existing H i surveys.ยฉ 2020 The Author(s) Published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the Royal Astronomical SocietyWe acknowledge the work of the entire ALFALFA team for

Mapping the Road to Instructional Coach Effectiveness: Exploring the Relationship Between Instructional Coaching Efficacy, Practices, and Outcomes
Despite the presence and potential impact of instructional coaches, many schools are not experiencing significant improvements in teachersโ practices or student achievement. In gaining more insight into forces that impact instructional coach effectiveness, this study (a) explored the relationship between sources of instructional coaching efficacy and dimensions of instructional coaching efficacy [Mathematics Content & Mathematics-Specific Pedagogy (ME), Student Centered & General Pedagogy (SE), Interpersonal & Communication Coaching (IE), and Personal Coach Characteristics]; and (b) explored the relationship between dimensions of instructional coaching efficacy and instructional coach outcomes. Participants included teachers (n=144) and their instructional coaches (n=19), from elementary schools located within a large urban school district in the southeastern U.S. Teachers completed an adapted Coach Effectiveness Questionnaire (Yopp, Burroughs, & Sutton, 2010), which assessed their perceptions of coach outcomes. Coaches completed an adapted Coach Efficacy Questionnaire (Yopp, Burroughs, & Sutton, 2010), which assessed their perceptions of source information and dimensions of instructional coaching efficacy. Significant correlations were found between the source Degree Major (Math) and ME (r =.534). Moreover, canonical correlation analysis showed that dimensions of instructional coaching efficacy were significantly associated with instructional coach outcomes, F(45, 363.21) = 2.326, p \u3c .001. Particularly, regression analyses found IE to be predictive of instructional coach behavior (ฮฒ =.395, t = 3.534, p \u3c .01); instructional coach impact (ฮฒ =.343, t = 2.982, p \u3c .01); and teacher satisfaction (ฮฒ =.264, t = 2.272, p = .025) with their instructional coach. Mathematics content & mathematics-specific coaching efficacy (ME) was also predictive of teacher satisfaction with their instructional coach (ฮฒ =.181, t = 2.012, p = .046). These results were generally supportive of the theoretically expected relationships between instructional coaching efficacy and instructional coach outcomes. Lastly, context and individual instructional coach qualities accounted for a substantial amount of variance in instructional coach outcomes. These findings are consistent with previous research that link situational factors and individual differences to coach effectiveness (Horn, 2002)
MICROPROCESSOR BASED NON-LINEAR ADAPTIVE CONTROLLER
The advent of microprocessors has created the possibility of
developing low cost adaptive controllers for small process plants
which in the past badly needed but could not afford such
controllers. To examine the practicality of developing advanced
low cost microprocessor based controller, this thesis describes
the development of a non-linear adaptive controller for a nylon
crimping plant which is a typical example of small process
plants.
In order to test the algorithm on site, an algorithm
development/implement device basing on a novel multi-tasking
concept was developed. This novel microprocessor based device
can perform program development, on-line algorithm test and data
logging at the same time, while, still maintaining its small size
for easy transportation. When the control algorithm was fully
developed and tested, a low cost dedicated controller using an
Intel 8085 processor was designed to house the algorithm and as a
direct replacement of the original analogue controller

Schloss Dagstuhl.
During the seminar, several participants presented their current
research, and ongoing work and open problems were discussed. Abstracts of

seminar results and ideas are put together in this paper. The first section
