[Review of] L.G. Moses and Raymond Wilson. Indian Lives: Essays on Nineteenth and Twentieth-Century Native American Leaders

In this volume, insights into American Indian ethnicity are presented through synopses of the lives of eight individuals. Analyses of these lives exhibit dimensions of family and kinship ties, cultural traditions, acculturation vis-a-vis the dominant society, and personal choices. The eight lives selected provide some balance in terms of geography, tribal affiliation, and gender (five men and three women). Five of the individuals were born in the 1850s and 1860s and died between 1915 and 1947; one person lived from 1811 to 1875; another from 1880 to 1949; the eighth, still living, was born in 1937

Educación física en los libros de texto escolares anteriores al franquismo (II) : cartillas y manuales específicos

Las obras específicas para la Educación Física escolar anteriores a 1939 recomiendan como principales contenidos los juegos y la gimnasia educativa y en menor medida los paseos y excursiones, y el canto y la música; encontramos asimismo un aspecto avanzado de interdisciplinariedad: la recomendación de intercalar pausas activas entre materias no corporales, que sería recogida por el plan de 1937 de la República, pero nunca más posteriormente. No existen diferencias señaladas entre obras generales (estudiadas en un artículo anterior) y las obras específicas aquí abordadas, así como tampoco entre las obras publicadas durante la I Restauración (1875-1931) y durante la II República (1931-1939).Prior to 1939, most of Spanish textbooks specific for Physical Education matter in Elementary education mainly recommend games and gymnastics and to a smaller extent walks and outings, and singing and music; we also find an interdisciplinary advanced aspect: the recommendation for inserting the so-called active pauses, included in the 1937 curricular design but nevermore. There are no outstanding differences between general textbooks (revised in a previous article) and the specific ones we are studying here, neither between works published during Spanish 1st . Restoration (1875-1931) nor during 2nd. Republic (1931-1939)

У статті проаналізовано погляди видатного українського педагога О. Му- зиченка (1875-1937 pp.) на сутність та особливості педагогічних технологій. Сьогодні, коли здійснюється пошук нових шляхів розвитку освіти, фахової підготовки вчителя, його педагогічної майстерності, особливої актуальності набуває звернення до спадщини фундаторів розвитку сучасної національної думки - відомих учених та громадських діячів початку XX століття. В цьому контексті педагогічний доробок Олександра Федоровича Музиченка - важливе джерело В розбудові нової школи В Україні тому, що з іменем пов'язано входження в освіту педагогічних ідей, які значно випередили свій час.This paper examines the views of prominent Ukrainian teacher A. mu- zychenka (1875-1937 pp.) on the nature and characteristics of educational technology. Today, when the search for new ways of education, professional training of teachers, the pedagogical skill becomes particularly relevant appeal to the heritage of the founders modern national idea - well-known scholars and public figures of the early XX century. In this context, pedagogical works by Alexander Fedorovich Muzichenko - an important sources in developing new schools in Ukraine because of the name associated entry into education teacher ideas far ahead of his time

The isolation and identification of antimalarial agents of the n-hexane fraction of the neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss)

 Abstract. Following the study which confirmed the antimalarial activity of the n-hexane fraction of the neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A.Juss), a research that aimed to reveal the active compounds act as antimalarial agents had been conducted. In this study, the n-hexane fraction of neem leaves were analyzed using the phytochemical, spectroscopic and chromatographic methods.  The chemical compounds, suspected to have an antimalarial activity, were isolated using the thin-layer chromatographic method with several solvents which different in their polarity. The visualizing reagents were used to characterize the compounds. The result showed that the n-hexane fraction of neem leaves contained of steroids, terpenoids and fenols. Analysis by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy showed that fenol derivatives existed in the largest amount. The compounds were identified as benzyl benzoat (25.63%), tetracosane (17.51%) and hexadecanal (14.61%
