RESURRECTED RECORDS: “NEW” REPTILE OCCURRENCE RECORDS FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY, INDIANA

Current and historic records of species occurrences in particular localities enable researchers to monitor changes in species distribution and abundance. While current fauna can be documented with sufficient effort, missing historical records represent data that can never again be obtained. It is with this importance in mind that we report for the first time records of eight reptile species in Montgomery County, Indiana, USA, that were documented in 1964, though no vouchered specimens persist. These species include: Sternotherus odoratus, Terrapene carolina carolina, Chrysemys picta marginata, Apalone spinifera spinifera, Thamnophis sauritus sauritus, Storeria dekayi wrightorum, Lampropeltis calligaster, Lampropeltis triangulum. We also provide a list of the 23 currently documented reptile species that occur (or have occurred recently) in Montgomery County

Several Minnesota state record Odonata, Aeshna subarctica, Ophiogomphus anomalus, Stylogomphus albistylus, Stylurus scudderi, and Coenagrion interrogatum are reported, along with notes on the distribution and habitat of Aeshna sitchensis. New county records for Minnesota Odonata are also reported

The exploration of the Rif Valley (Morocco) during 2010 revealed the presence of some new taxa and records from Morocco. The new taxa are: Orchis langei subsp. magrebensis and Ophrys neglecta var. riphaea. Ophrys neglecta var. neglecta and Ophrys numida have been detected for the first time in Morocco

Excerpt: In 1967 Mary Davis Ries published a list of 117 species of Odonata known to occur in Wisconsin, and later (1969) reported details of the distribution of species new to the state list. Collections from the Pine-Popple River in northeastern Wisconsin (Hilsenhoff 1972) added four more species to the list. Five additional Wisconsin records are reported below as the result of occasional collections made throughout the state

Specimens of eleven different species of beetles (one of which is identified only to genus) have been collected from and are herein reported as new to Wisconsin. These species collectively occur within seven different families: Leiodidae, Latridiidae, Scirtidae, Throscidae, Corylophidae, Staphylinidae, and Dermestidae. A majority of the specimens were collected at the author’s residence, either in pan traps or at UV lights; the others were taken at two nearby (township) parks

Over the last decade, our research consortium has provided information on acanthocephalan parasites of Arkansas vertebrates, including records from some of the state’s fishes. Here, we continue to provide data on new geographic and new host records of acanthocephalans from Arkansas fishes. In addition, for the first time, we report records of acanthocephalans for some Missouri fishes. We document 2 new state records as well as 10 new host records for some fish acanthocephalans
