Corporate social responsibility and financial performance: Fact or fiction? A look at Ghanaian banks
This article examined the impact of corporate social responsibility on financial performance using empirical evidence from the Ghanaian banking sector. Although corporate social responsibility is a hot topic in Ghana and banks do practise it, no detailed study has been conducted to ascertain whether banks derive any benefits therefrom. A sample size of 22 banks was involved. A structured questionnaire was used to obtain primary data whilst archival records were used to gather the secondary data.
Main findings: The findings revealed that banks in Ghana view corporate social responsibility practices to be a strategic tool; banks are motivated to practise corporate social responsibility by legitimate reasons as much as they are motivated by profitability and sustainability reasons. Also, although there is a positive relationship between corporate social responsibility practices and financial performance, the financial performance of banks in Ghana does not depend significantly on their corporate social responsibility practices but rather on other control variables, such as growth, origin, debt ratio, and size
Analisis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Subsektor Industri Energi di Indonesia dengan Pendekatan System Thinking
Terlepas dari sudah adanya Undang-Undang yang mengatur Tanggung Jawab Sosial suatu Perusahaan, Perusahaan di Indonesia masih memiliki praktik Tanggung Jawab Sosial yang berbeda dalam terminologi kegiatan dan dampak yang diakibatkan. Oleh karena itu, melalui Tugas Akhir ini, penulis berusaha menganalisis praktik Tanggung Jawab Sosial Perusahaan subsektor industri energi di Indonesia dengan menggunakan pendekatan system thinking. Sehingga dapat terlihat apakah Tanggung Jawab Sosial di subsektor industri tersebut bisa mencapai target three-bottom-line. Kata Kunci: Tanggung Jawab Sosial; Causal Loop Diagram (CLD), Pendekatan System Thinking, Keberlangsungan; Ekonomi-Sosial-Lingkungan. Despite already have national policies about CSR, the organizations in Indonesia has different CSR practices that not particularly similar nor close in the activities and impact term. Thus, by this research, the writer tried to analyze the CSR practices by subsector energy industry companies in Indonesia using the system thinking approach. Thus, we would see whether the CSR in this subsector really could achieve the triple-bottom-line target. Pengaruh Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), dan Kualitas Produk terhadap, Citra Bank dan Keputusan Menabung di BNI Syariah Kota Kediri
This research talked about the client decision to save on BNI Sharia in Kediri Town ofEast Java. This study was focused on bank image improvement model and Saving Decisionbased on CSR, and Product Quality. From the testing results on the model in this research,by using random sampling, structural equation model (SEM) analysis, and the assistancesoftware Amos 20, on 150 respondents, it was able to explain the relationship betweenCSR, Product Quality, and Bank Image on the Saving Decision at Bank BNI Sharia inKediri Town of East Java. In this research, it was obtained a strong influence of CSR onBank Image, amounting to 0.286, and a strong influence of the bank image on the clientsaving decision, that is of 0.780, this case showed that, with the rise of CSR, it will raisethe Bank Image, which in turn raised the Decision Saving of clients. In this research, italso obtained a strong influence of product quality on the Bank Image, amounting to 0.327,this case showed that, with good product quality, it will raise the Saving Decisions ofclients, through Bank Image. While the correlation between CSR and saving decision wasinsignificant
Peranan Corporate Social Responsibility dalam Memoderasi Pengaruh Profitabilitas, Leverage dan Ukuran Perusahaan terhadap Nilai Perusahaan
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan Corporate Social Responsibility dalam memoderasi pengaruh profitabilitas, leverage dan ukuran Perusahaan terhadap nilai Perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI pada tahun 2011-2015. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 128 Perusahaan dan setelah melalui metode purposive sampling, jumlah sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menjadi 37 Perusahaan dengan 185 total pengamatan. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data sekunder berupa data annual report yang diunduh dari website BEI. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa leverage dan ukuran Perusahaan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap nilai Perusahaan sedangkan profitabilitas berpengaruh negatif tidak signifikan terhadap nilai Perusahaan. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) sebagai variabel pemoderasi mampu memoderasi pengaruh profitabilitas dan leverage terhadap nilai Perusahaan tetapi tidak mampu memoderasi pengaruh ukuran Perusahaan terhadap nilai Perusahaan
Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure and Firm Financial Performance in Mining and Natural Resources Industry
Business operations nowadays should not only pursue profits, but also contribute positively to the society as well as environment. This is because people currently have become more critical to the need of social control over the business. Business then has to respond this through the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and disclose the activities related to it into the form of CSR disclosure. In line with this phenomenon, the purpose of this research is to examine the influence of CSR disclosure to firm financial performance. The legitimacy theory, the stakeholder theory as well as the agency theory are used in building the research framework in relation to CSR disclosure and its effect to firm financial performance. The study is conducted quantitatively by using natural resources and mining corporations listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2010-2012 as the samples. Meanwhile, the independent variable is CSR disclosure proxied by Corporate Social Disclosure Index (CSDI) and the control variables are firm financial performance represented by Return on Equity (ROE) and Cumulative Abnormal Return (CAR). Leverage, growth opportunities, firm size, and stock beta are used as control variables. To find out the relationship between the variables, the multiple regression test was applied. Finally, the results indicate that the sign of the relationships are positive but not significant. This means that although the perspective that socially responsible firm may be associated with a set of economic benefits, it is now still emerging but now yet settled in the Indonesian context
Pengaruh Corporate Social Responsibility, Ukuran Perusahaan, Profitabilitas, Leverage dan Capital Intensity terhadap Agresivitas Pajak (Studi Empiris pada Perusahaan Non Keuangan yang Terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia 2012-2013)
The aim of this study are to examine the effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR), size of firm, profitability, leverage and capital intensity to tax aggresiveness. The independent variables are used in this study are corporate sosial responsibility disclosure, size of firm, profitability, leverage and capital intensity. While the dependent in this study is tax aggresiveness tahe measured using two kind of effective tax rates (ETR).Population taken as the object of observation amounted 794 non-financial companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2012-2013 period. Determination of the sample was made by applying purposive sampling method and obtaining a sample of 240 manufacturing companies based on certain criteria.The result showed tat the CSR and leverage significant effect on the tax aggresiveness. While size, profitability and capital intensity does not significantly influence the tax aggresiveness

This paper presents a study case on innovative corporate social responsibility as a very important aspect of management planning and, in the process, explores some trends and new ideas pertaining to corporate social responsibility in mining industries. Pengaruh Corporate Social Responsibility terhadap Earning Response Coefficient (Studi Empiris pada Perusahaan Manufaktur yang Terdaftar di BEI 2010 - 2012)
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh informasi Corporate Social Responsibility dalam laporan tahunan Perusahaan terhadap Earning Response Coefficient. Hipotesa dalam penelitian ini memprediksi pengungkapan CSR memiliki pengaruh terhadap nilai ERC. Selain itu penelitian ini juga menggunakan 3 variabel kontrol yaitu Price to Book Value (PBV), Debt Equity Ratio (DER), dan Beta. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Perusahaan-Perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di BEI Tahun 2010 sampai 2012 yang menjadi sampel Perusahaan sebanyak 11 Perusahaan manufaktur. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif, pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis regresi berganda untuk mengetahui pengaruh di antara variabel-variabel yang ada. Hasil pengujian secara simultan dalam penelitian ini sebelum menggunakan variabel control menunjukkan tidak terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara Corporate Social Responsibility terhadap Earning Response Coefficient namun saat di masukkan variabel control hasil pengujian menunjukkan sebaliknya yaitu terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara Corporate Social Responsibility terhadap Earning Response Coefficien

This reseach has title the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility disclosure to firm value with management ownership as the moderating variable. The reseach purpose to know the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility disclosure to firm value and to know management ownership would be get strong relations Corporate Sosial Responsibility disclosure with firm value. Hipotesis of this reseach though Corporate Social Responsibility disclosure can be influence to firm value and management ownership would be get strong relations between Corporate Social Responsibility disclosure with firm value. Sample of this reseach is the high profile company with natural resources of Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) listing in 2008. There are 34 company of 68 population fulfilling criterian by using purposive sampling methode. The methode analysis of this research used multiple regression analysis. The result of study show that nothing influence of Corporate Social Responsibility disclosure to firm value. And management ownership wouldn’t be get strong relations between Corporate Socioal Responsibility disclosure with firm value
