Women Working in the Shadows: The Informal Economy and Export Processing Zones
A publication providing a description of women’s work in the world economy and the manner by which their rights are systematically violated. Suggests that the ILO Agenda for Decent Work and the recommendations of the UN Development Fund for Women be used as guidelines to ensure womens’ rights in the workplace
Results on Charm Baryon Spectroscopy from Tevatron
Due to an excellent mass resolution and a large amount of available data, the
CDF experiment, located at the Tevatron proton-antiproton accelerator, allows
the precise measurement of spectroscopic properties, like mass and decay width,
of a variety of states. This was exploited to examine the first orbital
excitations of the Lambda_c baryon, the resonances Lambda_c(2595) and
Lambda_c(2625), in the decay channel Lambda_c^+ pi^+ pi^-, as well as the
Lambda_c spin excitations Sigma_c(2455) and Sigma_c(2520) in its decays to
Lambda_c^+ pi^- and Lambda_c^+ pi^+ final states in a data sample corresponding
to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 invfb. We present measurements of the mass
differences with respect to the Lambda_c and the decay widths of these states,
using significantly higher statistics than previous experiments.Comment: submitted to Proceedings of the International Workshop on Charm

Labour and Women’s Rights in the Discount Business: Aldi’s special bargains from China
Based on surveys of 80 workers in the Pearl River Delta region of China, this report uncovers extensive labor violations in factories that supply Aldi, the top German discount retailer. The study is part of an ongoing CCC effort to push retailers to take responsibility for conditions in their garment supply chain. The report also promotes cross-sector initiatives to strengthen the movement towards corporate global accountability
Probing New Physics with b to s l l and b to s nu nu transitions
The rare decay B to K* (to K pi) mu+ mu- is regarded as one of the crucial
channels for B physics since its angular distribution gives access to many
observables that offer new important tests of the Standard Model and its
extensions. We point out a number of correlations among various observables
which will allow a clear distinction between different New Physics (NP)
scenarios. Furthermore, we discuss the decay B to K* nu anti-nu which allows
for a transparent study of Z penguin effects in NP frameworks in the absence of
dipole operator contributions and Higgs penguin contributions. We study all
possible observables in B to K* nu anti-nu and the related b to s transitions B
to K nu anti-nu and B to X_s nu anti-nu in the context of the SM and various NP
models.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, to appear in the proceedings of SUSY 09, 6-10

Stabilization in
In this paper we prove the following theorem: Suppose that f_1,f_2\in
H^\infty_\R(\D), with \norm{f_1}_\infty,\norm{f_2}_{\infty}\leq 1, with
\inf_{z\in\D}(\abs{f_1(z)}+\abs{f_2(z)})=\delta>0. Assume for some
and small, is positive on the set of where
\abs{f_2(x)}0 sufficiently small. Then there
exists g_1, g_1^{-1}, g_2\in H^\infty_\R(\D) with
\norm{g_1}_\infty,\norm{g_2}_\infty,\norm{g_1^{-1}}_\infty\leq
C(\delta,\epsilon) and f_1(z)g_1(z)+f_2(z)g_2(z)=1\quad\forall z\in\D. Comment: v1: 22 pages, 2 figures, to appear in Pub. Mat; v2: 32 pages, 5

pointed out by R. Mortini. A key hypothesis was strengthened with the main
result remaining the sam
Screening for Food Insecurity, Accessing Healthy Foods, and Resources for Patients
Food Insecurity and access to healthy food is a large health care issue in the United States, Vermont, and Chittenden County. This project aimed to educate health care providers at Colchester Family Practice about food insecurity to increase the amount of patients screened for food insecurity. The project also investigated local resources for people with food insecurity and made this information available to providers so they are better able to help people struggling with food insecurity.https://scholarworks.uvm.edu/fmclerk/1427/thumbnail.jp
