The tour will be fully mobile compatible so anyone, anywhere can take advantage of all features to gain a better understanding of what makes Cedarville so special
Experts Discuss Religious Freedom at Cedarville Summit
Cedarville University, in partnership with the Chuck Colson Center for Religious Worldview, will host a two-day Religious Freedom Summit Oct. 9-10, 2014, in the Dixon Ministry Center. National experts will discuss the assault on religious freedom as well as ways of preserving religious freedom.
The headlining speaker is Steve Green, president of Hobby Lobby. The arts and crafts retailer made national news this year when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the company’s favor, finding that it didn’t have to fully comply with the Affordable Care Act based on its religious beliefs. Green will speak October 9 at 7 p.m. He will also lead a breakout session on business at 2 p.m. on the same day.
Joining Green at the Summit will be Russell D. Moore, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission; John Stonestreet, fellow at the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview; and Jennifer Marshall, vice president for the Institute for Family, Community, and Opportunity at the Heritage Foundation
John Hart Named “Kentucky Colonel”
Cedarville University’s general counsel, John E. Hart, Esq., has been awarded the “Kentucky Colonel” recognition for his work to preserve religious liberty amongst legal issues in the context of Christian higher education.
Being named a Kentucky Colonel is the highest award given by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Recipients are commissioned for their contributions to their community. The governor recognizes Kentucky Colonels by their service and accomplishments on the behalf of others
Students Meeting Needs of Underserved in Dayton
Students at Cedarville University will support two local organizations for the 2015-16 Student Government Association’s (SGA) philanthropy project.
“The 937” is an SGA initiative to support Target Dayton and Shoes for the Shoeless. Both organizations reside in the 937 area code, the reason behind the project’s name. Target Dayton and Shoes for the Shoeless provide for individuals living in poverty, which includes 34.7 percent of the population of the city of Dayton, according to the U.S. Censes Bureau. The state of Ohio’s poverty index is 15.8 percent
Not Even a Deer Stops Cedarville Women from Winning National Championship
It was a successful weekend for Cedarville University (Ohio) this past weekend when both the men\u27s and women\u27s cross country teams won the National Christian College Athletic Association\u27s national cross country championships in Houghton, NY.
The women scored 44 points to win the 21-team meet, besting Oklahoma Baptist University by a single point. But, if it hadn\u27t been for a wayward deer on the course, the point differential could have been a little more comfortable for the Yellow Jackets.
According Kathryn Sill, who finished 16th in the race, Kayla Casaletto was running her race when a deer crossed her path and caused her to lose balance. She quickly recovered and finished in 18:41--the fourth best place for the Jackets
Make-a-Wish Dream Revealed to Dayton-Area Teenager
Dreams are meant to come true. At least that is the perspective of the Make-a-Wish Foundation that regularly grants wishes to people who are experiencing medical challenges. For 15-year-old Payton, a resident in the Dayton region, she will learn from Make-a-Wish about her the scope of her dream when she attends the Cedarville University baseball game Saturday, April 23 at noon. Her desire is to travel with her family to London, England, but members from Cedarville\u27s athletic department will add to the excitement on this special day. She knows her grant of traveling to London has been granted. What she will learn Saturday are the many activities she will experience on her trip
Model UN Team Earns Top Honor
Cedarville University\u27s 2016 Model United Nations (U.N.) team recently returned from the National Model U.N. Conference in New York City with the designation of Outstanding Delegation — the highest award given at the competition.
The honor is the second-straight for Cedarville, which also earned Outstanding Delegation at least year’s competition in New York. This year’s conference marked the sixth time that Cedarville students have participated in the event
Cedarville Theatre Cast Runs Clothing Drive
The cast of Cedarville University’s production of “The Music Man” is accepting donations of hats, scarves, gloves and mittens to be distributed to those in need. Donations will be accepted during the play’s two-week run, from Thursday, Feb. 2, through Feb. 12. Tickets can be purchased online at Cedarville.edu/ticketinfo
