Exact solution of N baryon problem in the Gross-Neveu model

Recently it was shown that kink baryons and kink-antikink scattering in the massless Gross-Neveu model are closely related to one- and two-soliton solutions of the sinh-Gordon equation. Here we generalize these findings to the case of n kinks and antikinks. Using the known n soliton solution of the sinh-Gordon equation, we solve the general n kink-antikink scattering problem in the large N Gross-Neveu model analytically, mapping the time-dependent Hartree-Fock approach onto inverse scattering theory.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures; v2: improved presentation, version accepted for publicatio

Competing mechanisms of chiral symmetry breaking in a generalized Gross-Neveu model

Chiral symmetry of the 2-dimensional chiral Gross-Neveu model is broken explicitly by a bare mass term as well as a splitting of scalar and pseudo-scalar coupling constants. The vacuum and light hadrons - mesons and baryons which become massless in the chiral limit - are explored analytically in leading order of the derivative expansion by means of a double sine-Gordon equation. Depending on the parameters, this model features new phenomena as compared to previously investigated 4-fermion models: spontaneous breaking of parity, a non-trivial chiral vacuum angle, twisted kink-like baryons whose baryon number reflects the vacuum angle, crystals with alternating baryons, and appearance of a false vacuum.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures; v2: typos correcte

Tricritical behavior of the massive chiral Gross-Neveu model

The phase diagram of the massive chiral Gross-Neveu model (the 1+1-dimensional Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model at large N) is investigated in the vicinity of the tricritical point. Using the derivative expansion, the grand canonical potential is cast into the form of a Ginzburg-Landau effective action. Minimization of this action by variational and numerical methods reveals both 1st and 2nd order phase transitions to a chiral crystal phase, separated by a tricritical line. These findings are contrasted to the massive Gross-Neveu model with discrete chiral symmetry where only 2nd order transitions have been observed.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures; v2: More details about perturbation theory given, cf Eqs. HeadOn: Real-time Reenactment of Human Portrait Videos

We propose HeadOn, the first real-time source-to-target reenactment approach for complete human portrait videos that enables transfer of torso and head motion, face expression, and eye gaze. Given a short RGB-D video of the target actor, we automatically construct a personalized geometry proxy that embeds a parametric head, eye, and kinematic torso model. A novel real-time reenactment algorithm employs this proxy to photo-realistically map the captured motion from the source actor to the target actor. On top of the coarse geometric proxy, we propose a video-based rendering technique that composites the modified target portrait video via view- and pose-dependent texturing, and creates photo-realistic imagery of the target actor under novel torso and head poses, facial expressions, and gaze directions. To this end, we propose a robust tracking of the face and torso of the source actor. We extensively evaluate our approach and show significant improvements in enabling much greater flexibility in creating realistic reenacted output videos.Comment: Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dg49wv2c_g Presented at Siggraph'1
