This report presents the results of the 2007 baseflow condition surveys of the four major streams flowing through Santa Lucia Preserve- Las Garzas, Portrero, San Jose, and San Clemente Creeks. This report has been prepared for the Santa Lucia Conservancy and is primarily intended for the staff of Monterey County and California Department of Fish and Game, in accordance with the baseflow monitoring and reporting requirements outlined in County Conditions 14 and 15. The scope of this report is limited to the presentation and evaluation of existing baseflow conditions as required by Conditions 14 and 15, and is not intended as a comprehensive analysis. However, data presented here are an important part of the long term data set that will be used for future in depth watershed analyses. (Document contains 13 pages & 14 figs

Creation of Eco-Terrorism: A History of Actions by the Earth Frist!, Earth Liberation and Animal Liberation Front from the 1980s-2000s

From the nineteen eighties to the early two thousands, the United States saw a raise in awareness and activity from ecological activist groups. The United States government labeled ecological activist groups as the one domestic terrorist group that was the largest threat to the safety and well-being of the American public. Given the current environmental crisis facing the world, there should be encouragement and rise of green activism not an active dismissal. How did these activists become the number one on the United States government list? The groups that are primarily responsible for this claim are Earth First!, Earth Liberation Front and Animal Front Liberation. The historical context of these groups is important in understanding how the United States formed the idea of Eco-Terrorism. Little historical research has been done on eco-terrorism, even though many laws have been created and the impact of them is far reaching. To research into these groups is difficult given their lack of formal membership and disorganization. Scholars must rely on newspapers, magazines, zines and police reports to create an understanding of the history of eco-terrorism. Creating an understanding of eco-terrorism provides a modern historical understanding how the United States has approached the green movement and more radical groups

Analytical Treatment of the Power Transfer Relationships for a Coupled, Current-Fed, Multi-Port Dual Active Bridge Converter

    Get PDF
Existing research has demonstrated that mutual inductors within the load ports of a Dual Active Bridge (DAB)-based converter enable fault tolerant operation. Similar research efforts with the DAB converter have also proven that incorporating a multi-winding transformer in the design can result in an interconnection of multiple DC buses with isolation and reduced switching losses. Therefore, a current-fed, multi-port DAB converter is proposed with the intention of capturing the benefits of both features. The performance of the proposed converter is evaluated against the traditional multi-port DAB. In particular, the potentially non-ideal square waveforms at load port voltages are mathematically described. The converter characteristic equations are then verified with PLECS simulations. Finally, the effects of inductor size on port voltages and power transfer are explored. The results of the analyses provide the conditions in which simplification to power flow equations for voltage-fed multi-port converters is applicable
