    Operational Trans-Resistance Amplifier Based Tunable Wave Active Filter

    In this paper, Operational Trans-Resistance Amplifier (OTRA) based wave active filter structures are presented. They are flexible and modular, making them suitable to implement higher order filters. The circuits implement the resistors using matched transistors, operating in linear region, making them well suited for IC fabrication. They are insensitive to parasitic input capacitances and input resistances due to the internally grounded input terminals of OTRA. As an application, a doubly terminated third order Butterworth low pass filter has been implemented, by substituting OTRA based wave equivalents of passive elements. PSPICE simulations are given to verify the theoretical analysis

    Effect of boundary scattering on spin-hall effect

    The spin dependent reflection in quasi-two-dimensional electron gas from an impenetrable barrier in presence of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling is analyzed in detail. It is shown that due to spin-orbit effects the reflected beam split in two beams gives rise to multiple reflection analogous to phenomena birefringence. The interplay between Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling gives rise to anisotropy in Fermi energy surface and a non-zero net spin-polarized current oscillating with two frequencies for all the values of incident angle except at 45o45^{o} when averaged over all components of reflected beam. It is also shown that in over critical region, all the three polarization components as well as net polarization has non-zero values and are exponentially decaying as distance from the barrier increases which in turns spin-accumulation near the barrier is an important consequence of spin-hall effect.Comment: 6 pages, 8 figure

    Intrinsic Shapes of Very Flat Elliptical Galaxies

    Photometric data from the literature is combined with triaxial mass models to derive variation in the intrinsic shapes of the light distribution of elliptical galaxies NGC 720, 2768 and 3605. The inferred shape variation in given by a Bayesian probability distribution, assuming a uniform prior. The likelihood of obtaining the data is calculated by using ensemble of triaxial models. We apply the method to infer the shape variation of a galaxy, using the ellipticities and the difference in the position angles at two suitably chosen points from the profiles of the photometric data. Best constrained shape parameters are found to be the short to long axial ratios at small and large radii, and the absolute values of the triaxiallity difference between these radii.Comment: Accepted in MNRA
