    Retrieval-Practice for Enhancing Students’ Memory in Learning Vocabulary of Preschool Period

    The purpose of the research is applying retrieval practice for enhancing students’ memory in learning vocabulary of preschool period. The data is collected by the data from PAUD Sakura Swadiri in Jakarta in 2017/2018 academic year in four times from 20 students. The instrument that used is direct vocabulary pretest and post test oraly. It is used to find out the progress of each students. The ages of students started from 3 up to 5 years old. The result showed that retrieval practice is effective for enhancing students’ memory in learning vocabulary of preschool period. In this case, retrieval practice improve students memories

    Improving Students\u27 Of Non-english Department Perspective In Learning Vocabulary Through Website

    The research purposes to improve students\u27 of non English department perspective in learning vocabulary through ESP syllabus which implemented in website that suitable with visual design communication program. The research uses qualitative data to find out credible data which have been confirmed by the writers. Then, the writers analyze the data which have been taken . The research is conducted in visual design communication program of UNINDRA in first grade students that consisted by 45 students. The procedure of collecting the data:1) Writers observed by taking Mid Term Scores, 2) Writers checked the syllabus designed, 3) Writers found out the need analysis of using ESP materials by using questionare, 4) Writers analyzed the data, 5) Writers grouped the data, 6) Writers designed syllabus and the course, 7) The writer developed the material which students need, 8) The writer evaluated the students\u27 result. The result of this research is writers got evaluation from the students for knowing their concerning in learning English through website by doing interview. There are five questions and the students can answer it directly refers to their satisfaction, their interest, their need, their achievement, and their suggestions. Based on the students\u27 answers, 80 percents of students enjoy this course and can increase their vocabulary naturally

    MODEL PEMBELAJARAN MEMBACA INTERAKTIF BERBASIS TUGAS MELALUI FLIPPED CLASSROOM (Penelitian Pengembangan di Universitas Indraprasta PGRI, Jakarta)

    Model pembelajaran membaca versi terbaru dibutuhkan oleh mahasiswa dan dosen untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca mahasiswa melalui pembelajaran daring selama pandemi (Covid-19). Dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris, membaca merupakan keterampilan yang sangat penting dalam mengakses berbagai informasi dan memperluas pengetahuan. Namun, faktanya banyak mahasiswa mengalami penurunan keterampilan membaca selama pandemi karena sebagian besar dari mereka terkendala pada penutupan sumber informasi, tidak meratanya akses selama pembelajaran membaca daring, dan adanya jarak sosial selama masa karantina. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran membaca interaktif untuk memfasilitasi dan melibatkan peran mahasiswa membaca dalam konteks sinkronous dan asinkronous. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan di salah satu perguruan tinggi swasta di Jakarta sejak November 2019. Model pembelajaran ini dikembangkan berbasis tugas melalui flipped classroom dengan metode research and development yang diadaptasi dari model Dick and Carey. Model ini dikembangkan melalui empat tahap yaitu analisis kebutuhan, desain pembelajaran, pengembangan model, dan evaluasi. Analisis kebutuhan mahasiswa dan dosen dikumpulkan melalui telaah dokumen, angket dosen dan mahasiswa, wawancara dosen, dan observasi. Model tersebut lalu dirumuskan pada tahap desain. Kemudian, kelayakan model diuji oleh pakar dan diujicobakan one to one, kelompok kecil, dan kelompok besar mahasiswa. Tahap pengembangan model terdiri dari building prior knowledge, doing interactive processes, assessing student’s processes, dan sharing communicatively yang diintegrasikan pada Moodle sebagai platform. Model ini memfasilitasi sumber belajar daring, pembelajaran daring, dan kelas virtual jarak jauh di sebuah platform. Model Bians sudah teruji memiliki efektivitas yang tinggi pada skor N-Gain 0,78. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa model Bians terbukti dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca mahasiswa secara lisan dan tertulis. The new version of a reading model is needed by students and lecturers to increase students’ reading skills through online learning, especially during the pandemic (covid-19). In English, reading is a vital role of skill to access various information and broaden knowledge. However, many students have suffered drops in reading skills during the pandemic because most of them got closures of resources, had uneven access to reading online instruction, and had social distancing in quarantine periods. Therefore, this study aims to develop an interactive reading model to facilitate and engage students’ reading in synchronous and asynchronous contexts. The study has been carried out at a private university in Jakarta since November 2019. It has been developed in task-based through flipped classroom context using research and development by Dick and Carey. Four main stages had been completed namely need analysis, design, development of the product, and revising-testing. In analyzing the students’ and lecturers’ needs in teaching reading, the data were collected through document reviews, lecturers’ and students’ questionnaires, lecturers’ interviews, and observations. Then, the model was formulated. Next, it was tested by experts, one-to-one evaluation, a small group evaluation, and a bigger group of students’ evaluation to obtain its feasibility. The revised version of the model named The Bians model consists of building prior knowledge, doing interactive processes, assessing students' processes, and sharing communicatively that are integrated into Moodle as a platform. This model facilitates online learning sources, online learning, and virtual classes in a platform. This model was tested and resulted in high effectiveness in 0.78 N-Gain Scores.     PEMBELAJARAN TINDAK TUTUR MEMINTA MAAF PADA KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA BAHASA INGGRIS SISWA KELAS VII

    The purpose of this research is to increase students’ speaking skill in seventh grade by analyze speech act that common be found in apologizing and their meanings. It use descriptive qualitative method. The sample of this research is VII grade students in 159 Junior High School. The researcher used Triangulasi method for getting the data, they are: 1) design the lesson plan, 2) decide material, 3) apply at classroom, 4) analyze the data which related to theories, 5) conclude the results. The data which taken there are four dialogues of four group in role play that applied apologizing. The results are: 2  speech act to show other’s attention, 2 speech act of realizing that have done something that shouldn’t have done and regret it, 2 speech act of someone’s expression that he/she has done something wrong stronger,  1 speech act of asking forgiveness to upset others, 1 speech act of someone’s awareness in doing fault and want to take responsibility for something, 4 speech act of politeness in starting and closing conversation.  Keyword : English Speech Act, Speaking, Apologizing Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keteraampilan berbicara siswa dengan menganalisis tindak tutur yang umumnya ditemui di dalam ekspresi meminta maaf dan makna yang terkandung di dalamnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sampel yang diambil merupakan siswa kelas VII di SMP 159 Jakarta. Teknik pengambilan data yang digunakan menggunakan Trianggulasi data, dimulai dari : 1)Mendesain rencana pembelajaran, 2) menentukan materi pembelajaran, 3) menjalankan pembelajaran di kelas sesuai renvcana, 4) menganalisis data berdasarkan teori, 5) menyimpulkan hasil yang diperoleh. Data yang diambil terdiri dari 4 tugas transkrip dialog dari 4 kelompok yang bermain peran dalam mengekspresikan meminta maaf. Hasil yang diperoleh antara lain: 2 tindak tutur untuk meminta atensi orang lain, 2 tindak tutur dalam merealisasikan sudah melakukan sesuatu yang tidak boleh dilakukan dan menyesalinya, 2 tindak tutur ekspresi seseorang yang sudah melakukan kesalahan dengan lebih dalam, 1 tindak tutur yang menunjukkan permintaan untuk dimaafkan karena mengecewakan orang lain, 1 tindak tutur yang menunjukkan kesadaran seseorang melakukan kesalahan dan bertanggung jawab untuk melakukan sesuatu, 4 tindak tutur yang menunjukkan kesantunan embuka dan mengakhiri percakapan.  Kata Kunci : Tindak tutur Bahasa Inggris, Berbicara, Permintaan Maa

    President’s Speech Act In Vlog

    This paper is a research report on the analysis of utterances of Mr. Joko Widodo as President of Indonesia and vloggers in vloggers’ vlogs. This study analyzes the rules of Mr. Joko Widodo as President conducting his utterances at vlog as social media. He realized that nowadays people of Indonesia always tuning in digitalization. In this media, people can see directly his activities as a president. Both the vlogs showed the interactions with Mr. Joko Widodo in different purposes and styles. The vlogs taken from Skinnyindonesia24 which has 66.000 subscribers and Arif Muhammad which has 92.000 subscribers. The data taken and analyzed both qualitative and quantitative data . The result of this research imply both of the vlogs Mr. Joko Widodo applies politeness strategies even in informal situation both vlogs. He acts extraordinary pragmatic forces and high politeness. So that, the audience gets the emotion, sympathy and persuasion of those who watches of them at vlog.Keywords: president, politeness, speech acts, vlo

    ABSTRACT The aim of the research is analyzing the utterances of Mr. Joko Widodo as president of Indonesia with vloggers. In this study, the writer analyzes the rules of president conducting his utterances at vloggers’ vlogs. The vlogs taken from skinnyindonesian24 which has 1.3M subscribers and Arif Muhammad which has 1.5M subscribers (data per November 25, 2018). The data taken and analyzed both qualitative and quantitative data. The elaboration of the methods used to measure language politeness, to count the data whether politenes or not. The data taken from Arif Muhammad’s vlog (1.596.033 subscribers) which entitle  Ngevlog bareng Presiden and SkinnyIndonesian24 were created by brothers Andovi da Lopez and Jovial da Lopez’s vlogwho have 1.344.548 subscribers entitleHow to Become a President.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar mata kuliah Pembinaan Keterampilan Mengajar (Micro Teaching) yang sesuai dengan substansi dan konsep CPL mahasiswa program studi pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini penting dikarenakan perlunya bahan ajar yang akan digunakan untuk mengampu mata kuliah Pembinaan Keterampilan Mengajar (Micro Teaching) yang Capaian Pembelajaran Lulusannya sudah disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan program studi pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Indraprasta PGRI. Output dari penelitian ini menghasilkan bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan Capaian Pembelajaran Lulusannya sudah disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan program studi pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Indraprasta PGRI.
