    This paper describes discrete and integrated approach and the implication on language teaching learning management. Discrete approach emphasizes on the teaching and learning a language discretely, whereas integrated approach emphasizes on the whole language, namely speaking, writing, listening, reading, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. In fact, both are interrelated since discrete learning is the basis for integrated learning. Both should be implemented in the teaching learning process in the classroom so that students are able to use the language well. Therefore, the curriculum or the syllabus, teaching materials, teachers’ qualification, and classroom management should be prepared well

    Teachers’ Beliefs in Developing English Materials for Vocational Schools

    This report is part of a larger study concerning teachers’ belief towards materials development and their effectiveness in professional development (PD) in Indonesia. This case study attempted to explore how the Indonesian teachers’ beliefs towards materials development for vocational school students in Indonesia. Seven out of thirteen English teachers of vocational schools in Indonesia are involved in this project and were interviewed and observed. They are developing materials for vocational schools. Findings show that teachers believed that they had some considerations to check what has contained the textbook's development. Their beliefs were influenced by some factors such as experience, needs, situation, students’ interest, students’ ability, workshop, and references. Also, the teachers' deficient time and different views were two major problems faced by the teachers when conducting materials selection and analysis—implications for how teachers’ perception toward English materials development in vocational schools

    Motivasi belajar memberikan kemudahan siswa dalam memahami materi terutama kelas VI dalam menjelang ujian akhir. Banyak  cara yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Salah satunya penggunakan media pembelajaran berbasis quizizz.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh media pembelajaran quizizz terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas VI menjelang ujian akhir sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan 2 Siklus. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah diskripsi kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari lembar  kuesioner, wawancara dan observasi. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh hasil penggunaan media pembelajaran quizizz  mempengaruhi motivasi belajar, terbukti nilai rata-rata motivasi belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan dari kondisi awal siswa sebesar 67 masuk dalam kategori  rendah meningkat pada siklus I menjadi 77 masuk dalam kategori sedang dan siklus II menjadi 85 masuk dalam kategori tinggi

    The family environment consisting of father and mother is the first educator for children. The formation of a child\u27s personality is obtained from an early age from family environmental education. Parents\u27 behavior will be seen and implemented in their lives so that parenting styles affect the growth of children\u27s character. This study aims to describe the influence of parenting style given to children in shaping their personality. The subjects of this study were fifth grade students in elementary schools with an age range of 11-12 years. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained by interviewing the parents of research subjects and observational data using a random sampling technique consisting of 8 students. In the results of this study it was concluded that there was a significant relationship between parenting style and the formation of the character of their children. Good parenting will form a good personality and be liked by the environment. While the wrong parenting style will shape the character of the child who is not good. Parents are expected to be able to apply good parenting in order to create good children\u27s character for themselves and their environment

    Pada penelitian ini guru tidak hanya menyuasai materi saja tetapi harus mampu memahami dan mengetahui metode yang akan digunakan pada saat proses kegiatan belajar mengajar (KBM) berlangsung guna meningkatkan tingkat keterpahaman peserta didiknya. Adapaun tujuan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: (1) untuk mengetahui informasi mengenai keterampilan guru dalam menerakan langkah-langkah metode demonstrasi, (2) untuk mengetahui informasi Pengetahuan dan pemahaman guru  SDN Inpres Tawali terhadap metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan pada saat proses belajar mengajar berlangsung, (3) untuk mengetahui informasi mengenai perkambangan siswa dan siswi setelah penerapan metode demonstrasi. Jenis penelitian ini, menggunakan Pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi yang diperoleh dari data tentang nama-nama narasumber di sekolah. Instrument penelitian ini berupa data alat pedoman observasi dan pedoman wawancara berdasakan Tanya jawab mendalam kepada sasasaran dalam penelitian ini. Teknik analisis data kualitatif diperoleh dari reduksi data, penyajian data (display data) kesimpulan data (verifikasi data). pengujian keabsahan data diperoleh dari trianggulasi sumber, trianggulasi pengumpulan data, dan trianggulasi waktu. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan metode demonstrasi dapat mudah meningkatkan pemahaman atau pengetahuan siswa dan siswi secara cepat dan rasional. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya data peningkatan hasil belajar siswa setelah penerapan metode demonstrasi dilakukan

    Learning independence is an attitude that students must have in blended learning. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of online crossword puzzle media in increasing student learning independence. This research is an experiment using an experimental class and a control class. The subjects in this research were 6th grade students at SD Negeri Karangduwur, while the media used was an online crossword puzzle. The results of this study showed that the experimental class experienced an increase in the posttest with a score of 80 while the control class did not experience an increase in score. The learning independence questionnaire resulted in 80% of students agreeing that online crossword puzzle media provides a high level of learning independence. The results of this research can be concluded that online crossword puzzle media is effective in increasing student learning independence

    This study aims to improve understanding of mathematical concepts through a jigsaw cooperative learning model. The research was conducted on sixth grade students of Elementary school  Karangwuluh, Kapanewon Temon, Kulon Progo Regency. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects were 11 students on sixth grade students at Elementary school of  Karangwuluh, Temon, Kulon Progo. The object of this research is the understanding of mathematical concepts. Data collection techniques used were observation, cognitive tests of mathematical concepts, field notes, and documentation. The research instrument used was a rating scale observation sheet and mathematical concept cognitive test questions. The use of the jigsaw cooperative model in the process of learning mathematics can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts in class VI students of Elementary school Karangwuluh. The impact of this process is the increased understanding of mathematical concepts, students of class VI at Elementary school of Karangwuluh. This is evidenced by the average score of the first cycle of 56.2, in the second cycle it increased to 81.1. Based on these results it can be concluded that the jigsaw cooperative model can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts in class VI students of Elementary school Karangwuluh

    Preliminary Study on the Development of Sigil E-Book Media in Improving Language Skills with Character Education

    The development of the Sigil e-book media which is used in language learning for fourth grade elementary school students is expected to increase motivation and language skills. This article will explain some of the findings of a preliminary study conducted for the development of the Sigil e-book media used in students’ language learning in fourth grade elementary school. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D). The field studies carried out included: obtaining information about the needs for developing Indonesian language learning resources. The results of this study are expected to serve as the basis for the development of Sigil e-book media used in language learning for fourth grade of elementary school to increase students' motivation and language skills. E-books are preferred over printed books on the grounds that they are more practical and economical so that they can attract students' interest in reading and can be used as a medium used to improve language skills. Character values can be inserted in the Sigil e-book media.
