IT Skills for LIS Professionals in the Modern Context
This paper investigates the requisite IT skills and competencies for LIS personnel in the changing setting of the Information Society. Also, the key challenges for library staff handling information in an ICT setting include managing and understanding technological integration, interpreting issues, and delivering service to end users. The author suggest that all library professionals must be driven to stay current with trends and willing to accept changes that will have immediate implications on libraries and library professionals' jobs
A Survey on the Reading Habits among Degree Students
This study was conducted among the students who are pursuing their degree at at KLE's Lingaraj College in Belagavi, Karnataka, India using a simple random selection
method. The data was collected through Google
questionnaires and analyzed using the
Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS).
The study found that most of the students spend one to
two hours reading their textbooks daily for the purpose of gaining knowledge as well as to
prepare for comparison tests. Television and social
networking websites are the most popular sources of
distraction for students
Trends in the Field of Library and Information Science Doctoral Research at Karnataka University Dharwad
The paper aims to explore the research trends in Library and
Information Science (LIS) based on thesis submitted to Karnataka
University Dharwad, Karnataka. For this study thesis were accessed
through Shodhganga: a reservoir of Indian theses. In this article total
of 110 theses were reviewed. The study has identified twenty-two subtopic of research areas in Library and information science research.The
study shows that the largest numbers (13.63%) of theses were published
in the Scientometric/Bibliometric Study.The present study reveals the

This study investigates the Perception of the use of Social Networking Sites by UG and PG Students of BLDEA’s Commerce, BHS Arts, and TGP Science College, Jamkhandi, Karnataka. The main purpose of the study is to find out the purpose and use of Social Networking Sites by UG and PG students. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data from a student. The result shows that WhatsApp is the most popularly used social networking site. purpose of using Social Networking Sites by students is Connecting with Professors/Teachers, entertainment, interacting with family and friends, sharing department notices, etc. Though the students indicated that lack of data security and privacy are the main barriers to using social networking sites. More number of students agreed that Social Networking Sites are useful for academic activity
