Each bubble represents a term. The height of the bubbles stands for the significance of enrichment. The horizontal distance stands for the similarity of term subtrees. Bubble size stands for term size (gene counts). The X-axis represents the group of functional terms and coloured by data sources, and the Y-axis lays out adjusted p-value in negative log10 scale

The perceived and objectively measured effects of clinical pathways' implementation on medical care in China

    No full text
<div><p>Introduction</p><p>Substantial resources have been expended on clinical pathways (CPs), but the reported effects of CPs on medical care vary considerably. This study sought to determine the effects of CPs on medical care in Chinese hospitals, including the perceived effects of CPs on medical care and the objectively measured patient outcomes.</p><p>Methods</p><p>Study data were obtained from 54 public hospitals in three provinces of China in 2015. Hospital questionnaires, employee surveys, and chart reviews were used to collect data related to hospital characteristics, the implementation of CPs and compliance status, perceived effects of CPs, and objectively measured patient outcomes. Logistic regression models and linear regression models were adopted in this study.</p><p>Results</p><p>The effects of CPs were not highly perceived by the hospitals or by the managers and physicians in China. The relatively low involvement in the implementation of and adherence to CPs resulted in CPs having no significant effects on hospital medical care as a whole. However, a chart review of 5 conditions in Chinese hospitals demonstrated that compliance with national CPs reduced the length of stay (LOS) and inpatient medical costs.</p><p>Conclusions</p><p>CPs should be implemented widely and followed closely to improve hospital medical care as a whole, and further studies should be conducted to identify the key elements of the effects of CPs on patient clinical outcomes.</p></div

BH3-Catalyzed Oligomerization of Ethyl Diazoacetate:  The Role of <i>C</i>-Boron Enolates

    No full text
In contrast to trialkyl boranes, the reaction of borane (BH3) and ethyl diazoacetate (EDA) generates dimer, trimer, and oligomers of EDA. The products arise from double, triple, and multiple insertions of CHCO2Et groups in B−C bonds. On the basis of NMR spectroscopic data, trapping experiments, and computational studies, a novel C-boron enolate has been identified as a key intermediate in this reaction. This C-boron enolate species is calculated to be 7.1 kcal/mol (gas phase) more stable than its isomeric O-boron enolate form. Both spectroscopic data and trapping results also reveal the formation of a doubly borylated enolate generated as a side product by a proton transfer between the C- and O-boron monoenolates

Table_2_Multiomics analysis revealed miRNAs as potential regulators of the immune response in Carassius auratus gills to Aeromonas hydrophila infection.xlsx

The gill of fish is an important immune organ for pathogen defense, but its microRNA (miRNA) expression and regulatory mechanism remain unclear. In this study, we report on the histopathological and immunohistochemical features of the gills of the crucian carp Carassius auratus challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila. Small RNA libraries of the gills were constructed and sequenced on the Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform. A total of 1,165 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) were identified in gills, of which 539 known and 7 unknown DEMs were significantly screened (p < 0.05). Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses revealed that the potential target genes/proteins were primarily involved in 33 immune-related pathways, in which the inflammatory responses were focused on the Toll-like receptor (TLR), mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathways. Moreover, the expression levels of 14 key miRNAs (e.g., miR-10, miR-17, miR-26a, miR-144, miR-145, and miR-146a) and their target genes (e.g., TNFα, TLR4, NF-κB, TAB1, PI3K, and IRAK1) were verified. In addition, the protein levels based on isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) were significantly associated with the results of the quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis (p < 0.01). miR-17/pre-miR-17 were identified in the regulation expression of the NF-κB target gene, and the phylogenetic tree analysis showed that the pre-miR-17 of C. auratus with the closest similarity to the zebrafish Danio rerio is highly conserved in teleosts. This is the first report of the multi-omics analysis of the miRNAs and proteins in the gills of C. auratus infected with A. hydrophila, thus enriching knowledge on the regulation mechanism of the local immune response in Cyprinidae fish.</p

MnO2 Nanosheets Grown on Multichannel Carbon Nanofibers Containing Amorphous Cobalt Oxide as a Flexible Electrode for Supercapacitors

    No full text
In this study, MnO2 nanosheets grown on the multichannel carbon nanofibers containing amorphous cobalt oxide (CoMCNFs@MnO2) are prepared via electrospinning technology followed by carbonization and a facile chemical bath deposition process. The as-obtained CoMCNFs@MnO2 shows flexible features, which could serve as freestanding electrodes applied in supercapacitors. As a result, [email protected] exhibits the specific capacitance of 265 F g–1 at 0.5 A g–1, which surpasses those of their individual counterparts (135 and 143 F g–1 at 0.5 A g–1 for MCNFs@MnO2 and CoMCNFs, respectively). Moreover, After 10000 cycles, the specific capacitance of [email protected] also maintained 98.7%. Most importantly, the asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) is assembled with [email protected] and the electrospinning carbon nanofibers (CNFs), which exhibit a high E of 19.27 Wh kg–1 with a P of 217.51 W kg–1 at 0.3 A g–1 and outstanding cycle ability of capacitance retention of 94.9% after 10000 cycles. This work paves a way to develop high-performance wearable asymmetric supercapacitors
