    Penelitian ini menguak kekerasan bahasa, khususnya kekerasan simbolik dalam konstruksikonsep Islam Modern pada buku Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dan Budi Pekerti untuk kelassebelas SMA terbitan Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud). Analisis dilakukan untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana praktik kekerasan simbolik yang terjadi dan bagaimana bahasa serta kuasa simbolik yang membentuk pemahaman mengenai konsep IslamModern dalam buku mata pelajaran tersebut. Landasan teoretis yang digunakan dalam tulisanini adalah kekerasan simbolik dalam pandangan Pierre Bourdieu yang berhubungan dengan konsep habitus, ranah dan modal. Analisis Wacana Kritis yang dikembangkan oleh Van Dijkmenjadi teori yang digunakan untuk membedah permasalahan dalam penelitian. Penelitian inimenggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Data penelitan berasal dari uraian buku tersebutpada halaman 168-169 mengenai Islam Modern. Hasil telaah yang dilakukan menunjukkanbahwa Peneliti menemukan beberapa strategi yang digunakan oleh penulis buku PAI dan BudiPekerti dalam mengkonstruksi konsep Islam Modern, antara lain: 1). Dominasi partisipan dan aktor; 2) Aktor tersembunyi; 3) Klausa aktif dan pasif; 4) Klausa postif dan negatif; 5)Nominalisasi 6) Modalitas; 7) Konjungsi. Strategi tersebut kemudian direpresentasikan secarasosial untuk melakukan kekerasan simbolik yang terjadi melalui produksi doksa, baik heterodoksa maupun ortodoksa

Establishing literacy model of santri with a good scientific tradition and the contextual dialectic of thought is must be developed. Through the model developed as an effort to reinvent literature of pesantren with religious moderation values is able to become a reference for the design of santri writing training and its application in realizing Wasatiyyah Islam.     This research reveals the tradition of Islamic preaching and the contribution of the Tamil language at the Chulia Mosque in building Singapore's religious life. The concept of da'wah and the use of the Tamil language can be used as an example for other mosques in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all worshippers.Mosques play a significant role in making Singapore a friendly country for all ethnicities and religions. This research is qualitative in nature with a descriptive qualitative approach through observation and documentation methods. The results of this study focus on two important things; First, the contribution of the mosque in strengthening the tradition of inclusive Islamic da'wah.     KITAB KUNING AND JAVANESE LANGUAGE MAINTENANCE IN PONDOK PESANTREN AL-FALAH SALAFI BREBES

    This study reveals the role of Pesantren and Kitab Kuning in maintaining Javanese Language. This focus on how the Javanese language maintenance process through the transmission of cultural values ​​and learning at the Pesantren Al-Falah Salafi Brebes and other supporting factors of the Javanese language maintenance process. This qualitative research uses a sociolinguistic approach. The type of data is the form of socio-cultural words and expressions, learning curricula, and Javanese language maintenance programs in Pesantren. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and document study. Data analysis technique is done by identifying, classifying and interpreting the data. The results showed that the process of maintaining Javanese language takes place on several ways: 1) Learning Kitab Kuning through Sorogan, Bandongan, Pasaran methods. 2) Tradition of dialogue through Khitobahan, Majlis Orda and Bahtsul Masail. 3) Personification of Kiai with the necessity to use Javanese language, and 4) Formal and informal communication. All these activities make Javanese language be maintained in Pesantren

    CDA for Symbolic Violence Analysis: Constructing Theories of Symbolic Violence and Critical Discourse Analysis in the Study of Educational Textbook

    This research formulates a new construction of symbolic violence analysis in educational textbooks. Analysis of symbolic violence through critical sociological theory is still limited to generalizing linguistic evidence. The integration of two important theories, cultural reproduction through symbolic violence by Pierre Bourideu and Critical Discourse Analysis by Teun A van Dijk, became the main study formulated. The study focused on reconstructing the concept of CDA for Symbolic Violence Analysis as a combination of these two theories in the study of educational textbooks. A qualitative approach with a library research as the research method was carried out. The reconceptualization of these two theories is able to present an analytical model to dismantle the ideological structures hiding behind educational texts. Symbolic violence that occurs through the process of cultural reproduction and gives rise to forced doxa can be dismantled through analysis of habitus, capital and arena which is enhanced by textual analysis, social cognition and social context

    REVEALING THE CULTURE OF SYMBOLIC VIOLENCE IN LANGUAGE LEARNING PRACTICES: LEARNING FROM KI HADJAR DEWANTARA

    This study investigates the phenomenon of symbolic violence within the framework of language learning. Pierre Boudieu's notion of symbolic violence exposes the exercise of linguistic authority and ideology in educational activities. The ideas, doctrines, religious rulings, and educational principles formulated by Ki Hadjar Dewantara are fundamentally opposed to views that reject the use of symbolic violence. This research employs a qualitative approach, specifically focusing on a literature study. The research data is derived from an analysis of the current state of symbolic violence in language learning methods, as well as Ki Hadjar's perspectives on education. The data analysis process had three main stages: firstly, comprehending the text inside the book under examination; secondly, recognising the presence of symbolic violence within the culture; and finally, developing the notion of child-friendly language teaching. The research findings demonstrate that the ideas of Ki Hadjar Dewantara can be effectively applied to challenge the culture of power and violence in language learning. Specifically, the concepts of Trisaksi Jiwa, Tri Nga, and the pamomong pattern have the potential to transform the culture of language learning that perpetuates symbolic violence

    Eco-literacy menunjukan kesadaran tentang pentingnya lingkungan hidup. Kesadaran betapa pentingnya menjaga dan merawat bumi, ekosistem, alam sebagai tempat tinggal dan berkembangnya kehidupan. Pendidikan merupakan piranti paling ideal dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran tersebut, salah satunya melalui ilmu biologi. Bidang ilmu yang begitu dekat dengan fenomena keseharian manusia dan relasinya dengan lingkungan hidup. Namun, proses pembelajarannya sejauh ini hanya dibebankan dan terbatas pada institusi formal. Masyarakat sebagai bagian dari sistem sosial anak tidak saling terhubung dengan sekolah. Praktik pembelajaran biologi di sekolah menjadi terbatas pada konseptual-hafalan bukan kontekstual-penerapan. Sekolah Alternatif Qaryah Thayyibah adalah sekolah yang menerapkan sistem pendidikan berbasis pada masyarakat (Community Based Education). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah sekaligus pendiri sekolah, pendamping belajar, warga belajar, orang tua dan masyarakat desa setempat. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi pendidikan berbasis masyarakat di sekolah alternatif Qaryah Thayyibah diwujudkan melalui akses, kontrol, partisipasi aktif dan keberterimaan manfaat masyarakat Desa Kalibening.     Maintaining Local Languages in the Elementary Schools in Indonesia through Pierre Bourdieu’s Cultural Reproduction Strategies

    AbstractThis research examines cultural reproduction strategies for maintaining local languages in elementary schools in Indonesia. The academic struggle for local language maintenance programs needs to be refined with alternative thinking and solutions. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach and a library research and outlines various findings regarding local language maintenance programs in elementary schools. Maintaining local languages in the management of elementary schools in Indonesia can be done through Pierre Bourdieu’s cultural reproduction strategies through programs orientated towards strengthening aspects of 1) Habitus, which focuses on externalizing awareness of the importance of preserving local languages; 2) capital, which focuses on resources and supporting capacity for local language preservation; and 3) arena, which focuses on educational and learning activities. The design of strengthening local language preservation through habitus is carried out in several steps: 1) applying linguistic knowledge; 2) promoting language loyalty, pride, and awareness of norms; 3) engaging in literature on language preservation and authenticity; and 4) fostering a positive language attitude. Meanwhile, the capital strengthening program through resources and carrying capacity is carried out: 1) the implementation of the Indonesian Language Policy; 2) the promotion of family, neighborhood, and religious values; 3) linguistic diversity. The strengthening program implemented through the arena includes: 1) strategies that include formal learning, extracurricular activities, and mandatory activities; and 2) technology, documentation, and revitalization.Keywords: habitus, capital, arena, cultural reproduction.AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji strategi reproduksi budaya dalam pemertahanan bahasa daerah pada sekolah dasar di Indonesia. Perjuangan akademik terhadap program pemertahanan bahasa daerah perlu disempurnakan dengan pemikiran dan solusi alternatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan telaah pustaka untuk menguraikan berbagai temuan mengenai program pemertahanan bahasa daerah di sekolah dasar. Pemertahanan bahasa daerah dalam pengelolaan sekolah dasar di Indonesia dapat dilakukan melalui strategi reproduksi budaya Pierre Bourdieu melalui program yang berorientasi pada penguatan aspek 1) habitus, yang fokus pada eksternalisasi kesadaran akan pentingnya pelestarian bahasa daerah; 2) kapital, yang fokus pada sumber daya dan daya dukung pelestarian bahasa daerah; dan 3) arena, yang fokus pada kegiatan pendidikan dan pembelajaran. Rancangan penguatan pelestarian bahasa daerah melalui habitus dilakukan dengan beberapa langkah: 1) penerapan pengetahuan linguistik; 2) mempromosikan kesetiaan berbahasa, kebanggaan, dan kesadaran terhadap norma; 3) menggeluti kepustakaan tentang pelestarian dan keaslian bahasa; dan 4) menumbuhkan sikap berbahasa yang positif. Sedangkan program penguatan kapital melalui sumber daya dan daya dukung dilakukan: 1) kebijakan Bahasa Indonesia; 2) keluarga, lingkungan sekitar, dan agama; 3) keberagaman bahasa. Program penguatan melalui arena tersebut adalah: 1) strategi meliputi pembelajaran formal, ekstrakurikuler, dan wajib; 2) teknologi, dokumentasi dan revitalisasi.Kata kunci: habitus, kapital, arena, reproduksi budaya

    What Does It Take to Be 4.0 EFL Learners?

    In Industry 4.0, the use of technology in second and foreign language learning and acquisition is predominant. This study closely examined how successful EFL learners use the technologies available in Industry 4.0 to enhance their English proficiency, whether through conscious or subconscious efforts. One-to-one, semistructured interviews were employed to collect data from four non-native English speakers (all Indonesian) aged 15 to 18 years old with upper intermediate level of English. It was found out that the respondents make the most of digital devices and internet technologies to improve their English proficiency by (1) using digital devices and accessing Internet content that is mostly in the English language, and (2) developing personal interests such as playing online games involving multiple players from various countries, watching foreign movies with English subtitles, and participating in international fandom communities. This finding suggests that technologies available in Industry 4.0 provide numerous opportunities for respondents to use English in authentic environments
