QGIS and Epigraphy: In Situ and Extra Situm Inscriptions

    No full text
The use of georeferenced relational databases for the localisation of epigraphic findings is widely attested with important examples. However, in order to propose an increasingly accurate representation of information related to inscriptions, some methodological issues need to be highlighted and, if possible, solved. This paper will address the problem of the place of discovery of the inscription, which could be in situ or extra situm

In the epigraphic documentation concerning municipia and Roman colonies there are several attestations of magistrates defined as designati. This contribution will focus on the analysis of inscriptions, found in the Iberian peninsula and in Roman Italy, concerning duoviri designati. The particularity of these testimonies is given not only by the reference to the duovirate but also to evergetic donations or dedications, which took place in a presumably extremely short period of time.In the epigraphic documentation concerning municipia and Roman colonies there are several attestations of magistrates defined as designati. The particularity of these testimonies is given not only by the reference to the duovirate but also to evergetic donations or dedications, which took place in a presumably extremely short period of time. &nbsp

Marble Wall Decorations from the Imperial Mausoleum (4th C.) and the Basilica of San Lorenzo (5th C.) in Milan: an Update on Colored Marbles in Late Antique Milan

    No full text
The unpublished remains of marble crustae from late Antique Milan are here presented. They covered the walls of two buildings of imperial commission in Milan: the Imperial Mausoleum and the Basilica of San Lorenzo (4th–5th C. AD). The comparison between the two buildings allows the formulation of hypotheses on the supply, reuse and use of this type of decoration for two buildings that were designed less than one century apart, but in two definitely different political contexts

Propane, propene and naphthalene combustion reactions were studied in presence of catalysts containing cobalt species both on Alumina-Zirconia (AlZ) and Alumina (Al) supports. Catalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, SEM-EDAX, TPR and Raman spectroscopy. Measurements of catalytic activity were performed in fixed bed micro-reactors. All catalysts containing cobalt species (Co3O4) exhibit a good activity for propane combustion reaction. The catalytic activity depends on the metal loading, the catalysts with higher cobalt loading (10 and 15 wt.%) and easily reducible Co3O4 particles being the most active. The catalysts supported on the modified alumina present highest activity. In addition, the presence of NO increases slightly the activity of the Co(m)AlZ catalysts, which is a very important fact because this contaminant is present in gaseous emissions. In addition, it is shown that these formulations are very active for the combustion of propene and naphthalene.Trabajo publicado en Álvarez, María E., Sandra G. Casuscelli, Mónica E. Promoting effect of rhodium on Co/ZnAl2O4 catalysts for the catalytic combustion of hydrocarbons

    No full text
Zinc aluminate (ZnAl) was used as support to obtain a series of rhodium-modified Co-ZnAl catalysts for the catalytic oxidation of propane and naphthalene. The catalysts were characterized by various techniques including N2 adsorption (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), FTIR and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), to correlate chemical and physical characteristics with catalytic properties. TPR and XPS techniques show the presence of segregated cobalt compounds, as well as cobalt species interacting with the support. Segregated cobalt species are considered responsible for the catalytic activity, due to their high reducibility. The addition of Rh promotes the reducibility of the cobalt compounds yielding to an increase in the surface content of Co2+. For propane oxidation, the best activity shown by the Rh(0.5)Co(5)-ZnAl sample could be associated with a synergic effect between rhodium and cobalt species. No specific effects were revealed due to the addition rhodium for the naphthalene oxidation.Fil: Leguizamón Aparicio, María Silvia del Valle.
