This paper introduces several Big Data processing techniques from system and application aspects. First, from the view of cloud data management and Big Data processing mechanisms, we present the key issues of Big Data. Following, we present the cloud computing for Big Data and related work. Furthermore, we also discuss, Big Data moving to the cloud. Finally, we present the conclusion and future work
An Enhanced Simulation Model for Complex Human Pedestrian Movement System using Hybrid Discrete Event and Agent Based Simulation
Agent Based Simulation (ABS) and Discrete Event Simulation (DES) are two well-known simulation techniques for modelling human behaviours. ABS is found suitable to model autonomous, responsive and interactive behavior due to its agent structure but it still impossible to model human queueing behavior using purely ABS. Meanwhile, DES is found suitable to model human queue and priority sorting due to its event scheduler structure. Therefore, combining DES inside ABS is significant in modelling the diversity of human behaviors as realistic as possible such as modelling pedestrian traffic flow. Pedestrian traffic flow is important for construction or redesign projects such as shopping centers, airport or railways stations. Simulation analyses can be used by architects in the design stage or by civil authorities to simulate evacuations for a good design of buildings and pathway projects. Addressing the aforementioned issue, the main objective is to enhance the capability of ABS and DES for modelling human behaviors by combining the DES approach inside ABS model. The actors inside the ABS model are presented as agents in a process-oriented DES model. The expected outcome of this research is to produce an enhanced simulation model for complex Human Pedestrian Movement System using Hybrid Discrete Event and Agent Based Simulation called as Agent Oriented Discrete Event Pedestrian Model (AoDEPM). This research is significantly useful to overcome the ABS and DES accuracy problem in modelling various prediction systems that consists of complex human behaviours
Efficient Algorithms to Index, Store and Query XML Documents
Mapping XML documents into relational database is a promising solution because relational databases are mature and scale very well and they have the advantages that in a relational database XML data and structured data can coexist making it possible to build application that involve both kinds of data with little extra effort. In this paper, we propose two algorithms (XRD, XRS) that maps XML documents into relational database. The algorithm steps are given in details to describe how to map the XML documents into relational database. Then we report our experimental results on a real database to show the performance of our method in some features
Improving Web Color using Color Scheme Assessment Tool (COSAT)
Nowadays, usability of a user interface becomes extraordinary important. We cannot underestimate the measuring of usability because it can reveal the qualities of the product in term of its functionality, which usually arises during the design phase. Therefore, usability is crucial to be considered when developing a system. Color has an important role to increase the usability of a web page. The use of proper color on interface design can greatly enhance the user attention which will help to enhance the usability of software. According to the existing web design guidelines, color combination, color contrast and color position are the three main features to be considered in web color design. From the existing usability tools on web color checking, we found a research gap on the usability tools which reflect to the three main features of color consideration in web page. Until now, there is no tool exists that combined these main features. Thus, this paper is aimed to develop a usability tool namely Color Scheme Assessment Tool (COSAT) that follows the guidelines of color combination, color contrast and color position
Big Data and Learning Analytics: A Big Potential to Improve E-Learning
The learning management systems (LMS) in education sector is widely used and it evolved nowadays. It led to enormous and several of data from the students' activities using online content. It generates a large amount of wasted and unused data these issues cannot be wasted and unused data these issues cannot be processed and supported by the traditional learning analytics. The sophisticated technology of Big Data and also became a recent trend now is vastly evolved relates to data-driven dicision making. It is known as big data analytics and appropriate to apply fpr e-Learning in higher education institution. This paper reviews and explores the impact of Big Data in e-Learning. Big Data Analytics has been proved as an effective approach for education data mining and learning analytics
XML Digital Watermarking
Due to the widespread and population of internet, digital data is copied and reproduced easily, which generate the high demand for copyright protection. Digital watermarking is one of the most efficient methods to protect the digital data. Digital watermarking is the process of hiding digital signal into digital document. The digital signal is called watermark. This paper covers the basic concepts of digital and XML watermarkin
Cloud Computing Model for MyGRANTs Project
Abstract. Key management is the most complex part of any security system dealing with encryption of data. Using cloud computing reduces not only pressure on IT cost but it provides satisfactory performance. However, a very fundamental issue on cloud computing is the loss of hands-on control of system, application, and data security. In viewing of current cloud-computing environment, there is an issue of a comprehensive key management scheme. This paper analyzes the special security requirements of key management under the cloud-computing environment. The study involves analyzing a cloud-computing key management framework based on the XML key management specification and designs the cloud-computing key management framework and module function for MyGRANTs. XML key management specification establishes an abstraction layer between the application program and PKI, which solves the interoperability problem between different PKI systems. As a result, the improved interoperabilty of cloud computing key management with three working modules based on different trust relationship for MyGRANTs is outlined

Modelling A Complex Human Centre Queuing System for Enhancing The Capability of Agent Based Simulation
Agent Based Simulation (ABS) is a simulation technique that emerged after Discrete Event Simulation (DES). The design of ABS is based on artificial intelligence using the concept of robotics and multi-agent systems (MAS). The agent based model consists of a set of interacting active objects that reflect objects and relationships in the real world. Technically, every agent has its own thread of execution to represent its own histories, intentions, desires, individual properties, and complex relationships. ABS is found suitable to model people centric systems as compared to traditional DES. People centric systems are systems that involve with many human interactions and where the actors work with some degree of autonomy. However due to the MAS structure, agents in ABS are decentralized. As such, modeling people centric system’s features such as people queuing in ABS is found difficult. Addressing the aforementioned issue, we propose to enhance the capability of ABS for modelling human centric queuing system by combining DES approach in ABS model called hybrid ABS/DES model
