DSCR1 deficiency ameliorates the A?? pathology of Alzheimer's disease by enhancing microglial activity
Microglial phagocytosis and clearance are important for the removal of amyloid-?? (A??) plaques in Alzheimer???s disease (AD). Chronic exposure of microglia to A?? plaques leads to microglial metabolic dysfunction, and dysregulation of microglia can accelerate the deposition of A?? plaques and cause learning and memory impairment. Thus, regulating microglial A?? clearance is crucial for the development of therapeutics for AD-related dementia. Here, Down syndrome critical region 1 (DSCR1) deficiency ameliorated A?? plaque deposition in the 5xFAD mouse model of AD by altering microglial activity; however, the A?? synthesis pathway was not affected. DSCR1 deficiency improved spatial learning and memory impairment in 5xFAD mice. Furthermore, DSCR1-deficient microglia exhibited accelerated lysosomal degradation of A?? after phagocytosis, and BV2 cells with stable knockdown of DSCR1 demonstrated enhanced lysosomal activity. RNA-sequencing analysis showed that the transcriptional signatures associated with responses to IFN-?? were significantly up-regulated in DSCR1-knockdown BV2 cells treated with A??. Our data strongly suggest that DSCR1 is a critical mediator of microglial degradation of amyloid plaques and a new potential microglial therapeutic target in AD

The Framework for Measuring Port Resilience in Korean Port Case
Port resilience has become a crucial topic to achieve port sustainability. To assist ports to successfully develop policies to improve resilience, this study aims to develop a framework for measuring port resilience. This paper conceptualizes the framework to assess port resilience based on relevant literature by conducting exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis using 199 samples collected from port stakeholders in South Korea. As a result, it is validated that the framework is a multi-hierarchical structure based on nine factors, i.e., robustness, redundancy, visibility, flexibility, collaboration, agility, information sharing, response, and recovery. Our findings would serve as a theoretical footstep for further studies on the relations between port resilience and sustainability and also contribute to implement policies to strengthen port resilience
COL6A3 regulates adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus by modulating cellular senescence within the neural stem cell niche
In the adult mammalian hippocampus, new neurons arise from neural stem and progenitor cells, a process known as adult neurogenesis. Adult neurogenesis plays a vital role in cognitive functions like learning and memory. Recent studies suggest that extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules are involved in the process of adult neurogenesis. In our research, we have identified Collagen Type VI Alpha 3 Chain (COL6A3) as a regulator of adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus. In COL6A3-deficient mice, we observed a significant increase in neuronal development within the dentate gyrus (DG) region of the hippocampus and senescence markers in neural stem cells of the same region were reduced. Additionally, COL6A3-deficient mice exhibited enhanced learning and memory abilities that rely on the hippocampus. Our results confirm that COL6A3 is a regulator of adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus by modulating the cellular senescence of neural stem cells. This suggests its potential as a therapeutic target for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD
Exploiting TTP Co-Occurrence via GloVe-Based Embedding With MITRE ATT&CK Framework
The digital transformation of various systems has brought great convenience to our daily lives, but it has also increased the level of cyberattacks. As the number of cyberattacks has increased, so has the number of reports analyzing them, MITRE publishes the ATT&CK Matrix which analyzes the tactics and techniques of attacks based on real-world examples. As the flow of attacks has become more understandable through TTP information, researchers have been using it with deep learning models to detect or predict attacks, which makes embedding essential to train the model. In previous studies on embedding TTPs, embedding is limited to simple statistical methods such as one-hot encoding and TF-IDF. Such methods do not consider the order of TTPs and the conceptual similarity between TTPs, therefore do not capture the rich information that TTPs contain. In this paper, we propose embedding TTP with GloVe, a method using a co-occurrence matrix. To properly evaluate the semantic embedding performance of TTP, we also propose a measurement called Tactic Match Rate (TMR). In the experimental results, 8 out of 14 tactics showed a TMR of more than 0.5. Especially the “TA0007 (Discovery)” tactic showed the highest TMR of 0.87. Through correlation analysis, the experimental result shows that the reason for the different embedding performances of the tactic is affected by the frequency of the technique in the same tactic, with at most a 0.96 score. We also experimentally demonstrated that the neutrality of TTP affects learning performance
An Efficient VM Scheduling Framework for Interactive Streaming Service
© 2021 IEEE.Cloud computing has become widely used to provide many services such as analyzing and streaming data to increase scalability and minimize up-front IT infrastructure costs. However, to make the best use of cloud infrastructures in terms of performance and cost, efficient virtual machine (VM) management is required. In this paper, we propose a VM scheduling framework for automatic and cost-effective management of VMs for streaming services. The framework controls and manages the life-cycle and status of multiple VMs in the cloud platform automatically. We implement the VM scheduling framework based on the google cloud platform (GCP). The experimental results show that the streaming services based on the proposed framework can provide lower costs with fewer performance overheads than the streaming services without the framework.N
Theoretical Calculations and Experimental Studies of Power Loss in Dual-Clutch Transmission of Agricultural Tractors
Recent carbon neutrality policies have led to active research in the agricultural tractor sector to replace internal combustion engines, making it imperative to minimize power losses to improve efficiency. Dual-clutch transmissions (DCTs) have been employed in agricultural tractors primarily due to their short shift time and smooth shift feel. However, DCTs have a relatively large number of components and complex structures owing to spatial constraints, making it challenging to predict power losses. Therefore, to predict DCT power losses, this study defined oil churning by considering the structural characteristics and oil circulation and comparing and analyzing the theoretical calculation and test results of power losses at different oil levels. Power loss was calculated based on ISO standards and fluid viscosity theory, and tests were performed to verify. We calculated power losses based on the defined oil churning of a DCT in agricultural tractors and confirmed that their consistency in test results improved when reflecting the lubrication state, considering the structural features and oil circulation. In addition, the factors contributing to power loss under low- and high-speed conditions were analyzed by calculating the power loss for each component
