Impact of DG and D-STATCOM Placement on Improving the Reactive Loading Capability of Mesh Distribution System
AbstractIn this paper, Distribution Generation (DG) and Distribution STATic COMpensator (D-STATCOM) are optimally placed in mesh distribution systems using sensitivity approaches. The objective of this paper is to improve the reactive loading capability of the network with maintaining voltage profile in an acceptable limit. Optimal locations of DG and D-STATCOM are determined using Voltage Stability Index and Combined Power Loss Sensitivity approaches respectively. The size of DG and D-STATCOM are determined by variational algorithm subjected to minimization of total power loss. In order to quantitatively analyze the impact of DG and D-STATCOM on voltage stability margin, Q-V curves are drawn using continuation power flow method. In this study the impact of simultaneous placement of DG and D-STATCOM is investigated separately for large industrial motor load as well as industrial load. Also, load growth scenario is considered for better planning of the system. The results are obtained on standard IEEE-33 and 69-bus mesh distribution systems to check the feasibility of proposed methodology
Construction of capital procurement decision making model to optimize supplier selection using Fuzzy Delphi and AHP-DEMATEL
Purpose â Supplier selection for capital procurement is a major strategic decision for any automobile company. The decision determines the success of the company and must be taken systematically with the utmost transparency. Therefore, the aim of this study is the construction of capital procurement decision making models to optimize supplier selection in the Indian automobile industry. Design/methodology/approach â To achieve the stated objective, a combined approach of fuzzy theory and AHP-DEMATEL is applied. Evaluation parameters are identified through an extensive literature review and criteria validation has been introduced through a Fuzzy Delphi method by using fuzzy linguistic scales to handle the vagueness of information. AHP is employed to find the priority weight of criteria although an inter-relationship map among criteria is not possible through AHP alone since it considers all criteria as independent. To overcome this, DEMATEL is used to establish cause-effect relationships among criteria. Findings â The results show that the total cost of ownership is the first weighted criterion in supplier selection for capital procurement, followed by manufacturing flexibility and maintainability, then conformity with requirement. The cause-effect model shows that supplier profile, total cost of ownership, service support and conformity with requirement are in the cause group and are considered to be the most critical factors in selecting the supplier. Originality/value â The studyâs outcome can help the automobile industry to optimize their selection process in selecting their suppliers for capital procurement; the proposed model can provide guidelines and direction in this regard.N
TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF PAPAYA - TANKAN KSHAR SUTRA IN RECURRENT PILONIDAL SINUS
Shalya Tantra is a branch of Ayurveda which deals with surgical as well as parasurgical procedures like Kshar karma, Agnikarma & Raktamokshana. This study elicits a case report of a recurrent Pilonidal sinus treated by the intervention of Papaya-Tankan Kshar Sutra, which cured and demolished the symptoms. The incidence of Pilonidal sinus is approximately 26 / 100,000; it is a benign disease that occurs in young adults in the age group of 15 - 30 years after puberty when sex hormones are known to affect pilosebaceous glands & change healthy body hair growth. The etiology and pathogenesis of Pilonidal sinus are not clear although the disease is thought to be related to the accumulation of weak and lifeless hair in the intergluteal region. Over time, foreign body reaction occurs, causing abscess and sinus formation. Pilonidal sinus can be correlated with Nadivrana in Ayurveda. Acharya Sushruta the father of surgery has described Nadivrana first time in detail including etiological factors, classifications, symptomatology, pathology, complications & its management in a most scientific manner
Impact of TCSC Installation on ATC in a System Incorporating Wind and Hydro Generations
AbstractThis paper examines the impact of installing Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) on Available Transfer Capability (ATC) in a system with wind and hydro generations. Wind resource is modelled as an active power generation, wind power being decided by average wind velocity values over 24 hour duration. Hydro power output is represented as a polynomial in two variables, water discharge and volume of water in the reservoir. The variation in ATC is first observed with varying wind and hydro generations over 24hours and then a steady state model for TCSC is used to bring out its effect on ATC. The ATC values with TCSC are obtained by varying the location of the device through different lines. The site which gives the maximum values for ATC is chosen as the optimal placement of TCSC. Modified IEEE 24 bus reliability test system (RTS) is used for the study
Monitoring effects of atenolol versus olmesartan medoxomil on metabolic parameters
Background: The increase in CVS morbidity and mortality could be significantly reduced by control of SBP and DBP, as well as reduction in Hyperlipidemia. Methods: The patients of stage-1 HTN with either sex according to JNC VII criteria were included and were followed up every 2 weeks from baseline upto 12 weeks. The randomized patients were divided into two groups to receive beta blocker viz. Atenolol 50 mg (group A, N=50) and ARB Olmesartan medoxomil 40 mg (group B, N=50).Results: The average Total cholesterol measured among Group A subjects was significantly increased by 1.8% by the end of 12th week whereas the average cholesterol measured among Group B subjects at baseline period was reduced by 7.9% after 12 weeks therapy. The average HDL measured among Group A subjects at baseline period significantly reduces by 5.9% by the end of 12th week whereas the HDL levels measured among Group B subjects at baseline period was significantly increased by after 12 weeks therapy. The average Triglyceride (TG) levels measured among Group A subjects at baseline period was significantly increased by 12.4% by the end of 12th week whereas the Triglyceride (TG) levels measured among Group B subjects at baseline period was significantly reduced by 9.5% after 12 weeks therapy. The average LDL levels measured among Group A subjects at baseline period was significantly increased by 1.5% by the end of 12thweek whereas the average LDL measured among Group B subjects at baseline period was significantly reduced by 11.2% to after 12 weeks therapy. The average VLDL levels measured among Group A subjects at baseline period was significantly increased by 12.4% by the end of 12th week whereas the average VLDL measured among Group B subjects at baseline period was significantly reduced by 9.5% after 12 weeks therapy. Conclusions: ARB- Olmesartan medoxomil is a better drug than beta blocker-Atenolol as it leads to greater deduction in lipid profile
Spin-polarized DFT calculations for physical properties of novel KVSb half-Heusler compound for spintronic and thermodynamic applicability
In the reported study we have investigated the robust phase stability,
elasto-mechanical, thermophysical and magnetic properties of KVSb half Heusler
compound by implementing density functional theory models in Wien2k simulation
package. The dynamic phase stability is computed in phase type I, II & III
phase configurations by optimising their energy. It is observed that given
compound is more stable in spin-polarised state of phase type I. To explore the
electronic band structure, we apply the generalised gradient approximation. The
electronic band profile of the Heusler alloy display a half-metallic nature.
Moreover, the calculated second-order elastic parameters divulge the ductile
nature. To understand the thermodynamical and thermoelectric stability of the
alloy at various temperature and pressures ranges we have utilised the
Quasi-Harmonic Debye model. The computed value of magnetic moment found in good
agreement with Slater-Pauling rule. Our findings confirms that the predicted
half Heusler alloy can be used in various spintronics and thermoelectric
applications
DIABETES MELLITUS: A REVIEW WITH EDGE OF SGLT2 INHIBITORS
The relative (Type 2 DM) or absolute (Type 1 DM) deficiency of insulin hormone could result into hyperglycemia, which is a characteristic feature of diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality because of its associated complications viz. Neuropathy, Nephropathy, Retinopathy, Cardiovascular disorders. The feature which has to be noted down is the death of individuals before the age of 70 y, which is attributable to high blood glucose levels. According to WHO diabetes mellitus will be the seventh leading cause of deaths till 2030.The induction of glycosuria as meant for glyÃÂcaemiac control in patients with DM is an extension of the physiological role of renal TmG to curb the menace of hyperglycemia. The first biologically derived SGLT2 inhibitor phlorizin, isolated in 1835 from the root bark of apple tree, was not developed as an antihyperglycaemic drug because of rapid degradation by lactase-phlorizin hydrolase and poor absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Other glycoside moieties derived from phlorizin strucÃÂture have subsequently been developed recently
First-principles investigation of multifaceted properties; lattice dynamic, structural stability, mechanical, electronic, magnetic and thermodynamic response of Alkali metals-based semi Heusler alloys
Taking into considerations the wide compositional stretch of Heusler alloys,
the first principles density functional theory based calculations are
excellently suitable for estimating the multifaceted properties of alkali metal
based LiVSb and NaVSb Heusler alloys. We calculated ground state stability by
optimizing the energy in alpha, beta and gamma phase configurations. The
materials are dynamically stable in spin polarised phase type alpha. To explore
the electronic structure, we successfully employed the generalized gradient
approximation potential. The electronic band structures indicate a
half-metallic nature featuring a wide indirect band gap of 1.40eV and 1.45eV.
We computed the second-order elastic parameters at different pressure levels.
The Pugh ratio less than 0.25 assessed that both alloys are brittle in nature
and mechanically stable. The obtained magnetic moment is consistent with the
Slater-Pauling rule. By executing the Quasi-Harmonic Debye model and Boltzmann
theory we assessed the various thermodynamic parameters and transport
coefficients of both alloys at different temperatures and pressures. All
positive frequencies in lattice dynamic study confirmed their stability. Our
findings highlight the potential of these alloys in modern semiconductor
technology, and thermoelectric applications
