Design and Construction of Sheabutter Extraction Machine for Rural Areas In The Developing Countries
Both industrial and domestic applications of oils/fats have
necessitated lipids research and the best method of
extraction. The design and construction of the sheabutter
extractor was made with the view of improving the nutrients
in sheabutter. The construction was made within the
available local raw materials.· The extractor- which is
portable and manually operated, is meant to serve r-ur-al
areas in the developing countries.
The sheabutter extractor was tested and was found to be

The Daunting Challenges of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry
The future state of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) is seemingly beginning to look promising
amid the recent change in the country’s leadership and the increase in tariffs. Nevertheless, more still needs to be
done to ensure the quality, availability and reliability of electricity supply to the citizenry; thus restoring the
much-needed faith in the ongoing sector reforms as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) set
about implementing the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005. With the wide array of energy sources
available in the country such as biomass, large and small hydro, daily solar radiation of up to 7.5kWh/m2, coal,
lignite, wind, municipal solid waste (MSW), niobium, natural gas and crude oil, sufficient electricity generation
using all these available sources of energy should be a given but this is not the case. Hence this paper carefully
analyses each segment of the NESI and successfully identifies the root-causes of constant power outages in the
country which has led to a high unreliability of supply, with a view to proffering workable solution
Modelling and Analysis of Powerline Temperature Surveillance with Optisystem Simulation
A periodic variation of the index of refraction of a fiber optics is known as the Fiber Bragg Grating. It works on
the principle of wavelength shifts in response to the modulation of the light source as a result of change in
temperature above the reference point. This paper presents the design and analysis of Fiber Bragg Grating
Sensor to measure and monitor the temperature change in powerlines for a particular range of temperature.
Simulation was carried out on Optisystem to determine the peak reflectivity of the Bragg wavelength. It is seen
that a change in the reflected spectrum of light is proportional to the change in temperature as shown in the
FBG interrogator
