Racial and Sexual Politics of Their Eyes are Watching God from a Spatial Perspective
Critics hold quite controversial ideas concerning the racial politics and sexual politics of Hurston’s Their Eyes are Watching God. Through analyzing Janie’s stubborn ignorance of the inevitable racial spatial division, Janie’s spatial movements and space images in the novel, this paper points out that Janie’s black identification is ambivalent due to the damages racism does to her and her feminist consciousness very weak which shows that the systematic brainwash of patriarchy is both successful and hard to eliminate. Janie therefore becomes to be more representative and universal than those protesting heroes and heroines. The harm and control that racism and patriarchy make to African-Americans and women are exposed from a different angle, exposing the racial and sexual politics of the novel
Using GIS and CRM to Develop Intermediary Portal E-Business Model: The Case of Automobile Industry
As Internet-based and other virtual technologies are being used more and more for procurement, supply chain management, product development, customer relations, and other business functions, and as they are proving to be efficacious, e-business has undoubtedly become an integral element in the business and engineering strategies of many automakers and suppliers. What e-business can provide to an automotive cooperation has been well stated for improving product quality, reducing costs, and shortening time-to-market cycles.
In this paper, Renault Australia is used as an example of where the automobile industry is currently positioned in relation to E-Business. Online WebGIS-based Marketing Support System, developed as a portal e-business model, is designed to assistant information and knowledge exchange between the market analysis business and decision makers (and sales people) in auto industry. Incorporating marketing information gives rise to a better understanding of the potential of particular market areas or target markets, and helps identify the strengths and weaknesses of the competition in particular market areas or among particular target market segments. Such market analysis strategies obviously provide competitive advantages. Sharing information and obtaining market analysis outcomes through the Web will provide business decision makers with up to date information and knowledge. This solution will not only reduce costs for business planning, but also help to avoid the cost of wrong decisions
The impact of green transformational leadership, green HRM, green innovation and organizational support on the sustainable business performance: evidence from China
Currently, sustainable business performance has become the global
requirement due to the recent economic disaster, and green
measures have been considered the leading solution for it. This
situation has gained the attention of recent literature and regulators;
thus, the present study examined the green transformational
leadership (GTL), human resource management (HRM), and innovation
on the sustainable business performance of the manufacturing
organizations in China. The moderating impact of perceived
organizational support among the association of GTL, green HRM,
green innovation, and sustainable business performance of the
manufacturing organizations in China was also investigated. The
questionnaires method was adopted to collect data, and the
smart-PLS was used to test the hypotheses. The results indicated
that GTL, green HRM, and green innovation have a significant
and direct association with the sustainable business performance
of the manufacturing organizations in China. The outcomes also
revealed that organizational support significantly moderates
among the nexus of GTL, green HRM, green innovation, and sustainable
business performance of the manufacturing organizations
in China. The current research provides help to the regulators
while formulating policies and guides the new researchers while
examining this topic in the future
Integrating analog and digital modes of gene expression at <i>Arabidopsis FLC</i>
Quantitative gene regulation at the cell population level can be achieved by two fundamentally different modes of regulation at individual gene copies. A 'digital' mode involves binary ON/OFF expression states, with population-level variation arising from the proportion of gene copies in each state, while an 'analog' mode involves graded expression levels at each gene copy. At the Arabidopsis floral repressor FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC), 'digital' Polycomb silencing is known to facilitate quantitative epigenetic memory in response to cold. However, whether FLC regulation before cold involves analog or digital modes is unknown. Using quantitative fluorescent imaging of FLC mRNA and protein, together with mathematical modeling, we find that FLC expression before cold is regulated by both analog and digital modes. We observe a temporal separation between the two modes, with analog preceding digital. The analog mode can maintain intermediate expression levels at individual FLC gene copies, before subsequent digital silencing, consistent with the copies switching OFF stochastically and heritably without cold. This switch leads to a slow reduction in FLC expression at the cell population level. These data present a new paradigm for gradual repression, elucidating how analog transcriptional and digital epigenetic memory pathways can be integrated
Designing And Implementing An Online WebGIS-Based Decision Support System
This paper focuses on providing a market analysis solution through designing and implementing an online decision-support system (DSS) for businesses decision makers in Tobacco industry in China. The procedure makes use of data, information and software from Web based Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to generate online analysis, mapping and visualisation systems. These procedures are integrated and synchronised with market analysis techniques and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
By integrating these two techniques, a webGIS-based tobacco market information system is presented to demonstrate the significance of WebGIS in market analysis field. Specifically, to meet the needs of market practitioners (retailer, distributor and industry authority) in understanding the current market and sales performance, the system is designed and mainly consisted of four functional components: Communication and administration, Current market analysis, CRM (Client Relationship Management) and Sales/customer analysis, and Operational issues. From the system design and system usage perspectives, the illustration on the system architecture and the process of marketing information transmission reveals the benefits raised from this E-commerce tool to both the system users and service provider in marketing analysis. Based on this, the fusion of technology enhancement and marketing strategy in business process are called for and discussed

Soft phototactic swimmer based on self-sustained hydrogel oscillator.
Oscillations are widely found in living organisms to generate propulsion-based locomotion often driven by constant ambient conditions, such as phototactic movements. Such environment-powered and environment-directed locomotions may advance fully autonomous remotely steered robots. However, most man-made oscillations require nonconstant energy input and cannot perform environment-dictated movement. Here, we report a self-sustained soft oscillator that exhibits perpetual and untethered locomotion as a phototactic soft swimming robot, remotely fueled and steered by constant visible light. This particular out-of-equilibrium actuation arises from a self-shadowing-enabled negative feedback loop inherent in the dynamic light-material interactions, promoted by the fast and substantial volume change of the photoresponsive hydrogel. Our analytical model and governing equation unveil the oscillation mechanism and design principle with key parameters identified to tune the dynamics. On this autonomous oscillator platform, we establish a broadly applicable principle for converting a continuous input into a discontinuous output. The modular design can be customized to accommodate various forms of input energy and to generate diverse oscillatory behaviors. The hydrogel oscillator showcases agile life-like omnidirectional motion in the entire three-dimensional space with near-infinite degrees of freedom. The large force generated by the powerful and long-lasting oscillation can sufficiently overcome water damping and effectively self-propel away from a light source. Such a hydrogel oscillator-based all-soft swimming robot, named OsciBot, demonstrated high-speed and controllable phototactic locomotion. This autonomous robot is battery free, deployable, scalable, and integratable. Artificial phototaxis opens broad opportunities in maneuverable marine automated systems, miniaturized transportation, and solar sails
Preliminary Study on Deterministic Chaotic System From Physical Approach
Chaotic phenomenon widely exists in the nonlinear dynamic systems. Such phenomenon is described to be highly related the initial conditions and intrinsic system properties. Traditionally, large effort has been put on evaluation of the existence of chaos, such as Lyapunov exponent or power spectrum methods. In addition, iteration methods are usually employed to explore the states of system. In this work, we will study the chaotic system in a different point of view. The system properties of physics quantities will be considered firstly. Starting from these physics quantities, it is expected to potentially determine the final states of the system. Then a relationship between the initial conditions and final states will be established. The objective of this work is to preliminary study the feasibility of employing such method for predetermine the final state of reappear initial conditions. The main approach is building a strong relationship between each initial conditions and final states within limited computation. Once the relationship is established, we could know the system states distribution and achieve the exploitation on the system. In this work, we will focus on the deterministic chaotic systems that the final states are deterministic and non-periodic.
In order to perform the proof-of-concept, a typical chaotic system, the magnetic pendulum system, will be employed for demonstration. A program written in Java will display the pendulum movement in real-time and also the basin diagram that shows the relationship between initial conditions and final states. All of code for this program are constructed from scratch.
After the implementation of our program, we will compare results from it and that of the separate numerical simulation of the same system. The numerical simulation will be performed through the commercially available software Mathematica. Further investigation will also be discussed with the results from numerical simulation.
Three conclusions could draw from this work. The first is a proof-of-concept has been established for the opportunity to develop a new approach to study the deterministic chaotic system based on the physical properties methods. The second is the relationship between the initial condition and final states are proved to be work in states predetermination. The third is that relationship between the intrinsic system parameter and the final system states distributions has been found, which could be a guiding line for the similar deterministic chaotic system study in the future. It is also worthy to mention that herein the magnetic pendulum is only an example to testify our approach. And this approach should also be valid for other general deterministic chaotic systems.
In this work, we only perform the preliminary study on this approach. In the future, our study will be extended to more systems and even the system in real world. It is expected such approach would build a new viewpoint on understanding the chaotic system, and a potentially new method to understand data
