    Teknik pembelajaran di kalangan pelajar dewasa di Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia

    Teknik pembelajaran yang bersesuaian di kalangan pelajar dewasa dalam proses pembelajaran akan mewujudkan satu suasana pembelajaran yang aktif dan kondusif. Tujuan kajian ini bagi mengenal pasti teknik pembelajaran yang dominan di kalangan pelajar dewasa dan tahap pencapaian akademik pelajar dewasa berdasarkan Nilai Gred Kumulatif (CGPA). Selain itu kajian ini untuk mengenal pasti sekiranya terdapat hubungan antara teknik pembelajaran dengan pencapaian akademik. Seterusnya kajian ini juga untuk mengenal pasti perbezaan teknik pembelajaran antara pelajar lelaki dewasa dengan pelajar wanita. Kajian ini memfokuskan kepada pelajar dewasa Program Khas Pengsiswazahan Guru Besar (PKPGB) di UTHM yang berumur dalam lingkungan 45 tahun sehingga 50 tahun. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 81 orang pelajar yang merupakan guru besar sekolah. Kajian dilakukan secara kaedah tinjauan melalui pengedaran borang selidik dan temu bual sokongan sebagai alat instrumen. Data-data dianalisis menggunakan pakej perisian Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) versi 12.0 bagi mendapatkan min skor, peratusan dan sisihan piawai. Korelasi Spearman Rho's digunakan untuk menentukan hubungan antara teknik pembelajaran dengan pencapaian akademik manakala ujian-T tidak bersandar pula digunakan untuk menentukan perbezaan dari segi teknik pembelajaran di kalangan pelajar dewasa mengikut jantina. Hasil kajian mendapati teknik pembelajaran yang dominan digunakan oleh pelajar dewasa ialah teknik berkumpulan dan teknik mendengar. Manakala terdapat hubungan antara teknik pembelajaran dengan pencapaian akademik walaupun pada tahap yang lemah. Walau bagaimanapun terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan dari segi teknik pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh pelajar dewasa mengikut jantina

    Kemahiran Menvisualisasi Ruang Dalam Kalangan Pelajar Bagi Mata Pelajaran Pendidikan Seni Visual

    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melihat tahap keupayaan menvisualisasi ruang atau spatial visualisation bagi pelajar yang mengambil mata pelajaran Pendidikan Seni Visual. Aspek-aspek yang dikaji adalah untuk melihat tahap kemahiran menvisualisasi ruang berdasarkan imej mental, proses menvisualisasi dan keupayaan menvisualisasi. Selain itu, hubungan di antara pencapaian kemahiran menvisualisasi ruang dengan pencapaian Peperiksaan Pertengahan Tahun Pendidikan Seni Visual dan perbezaan antara pelajar lelaki dan pelajar perempuan terhadap tahap pencapaian kemahiran menvisualisasi ruang. Reka bentuk kajian yang digunakan dalam penyelidikan ini ialah kajian kuantitatif. Ujian Kemahiran Menvisualisasi Ruang atau Spatial Visualisation Ability Test Instrument (SVATI) serta pencapaian Peperiksaan Pertengahan Tahun Pendidikan Seni Visual merupakan instrumen yang telah digunakan. Kajian ini melibatkan 145 orang pelajar tingkatan 4 SMK Datin Onn Jaafar, Batu Pahat, Johor yang mengambil mata pelajaran Pendidikan Seni Visual. Seterusnya dapatan kajian telah dianalisis dengan menggunakan Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) versi 20 untuk menganalisis skor min, Kolerasi Pearson dan juga kaedah ujian-T (independent-sample-t-test). Daripada hasil kajian mendapati bahawa tahap keupayaan menvisualisasi ruang imej mental, proses menvisualisasi dan keupayaan menvisualisasi bagi keseluruhan responden berada pada tahap baik dan terdapat hubungan positif yang sederhana di antara tahap kemahiran menvisualisasi ruang dengan tahap pencapaian Peperiksaan Pertengahan Tahun Pendidikan Seni Visual. Di samping itu, dapatan kajian juga menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan antara kemahiran menvisualisasi ruang antara pelajar lelaki dan pelajar perempuan.     Leadership Skills among Technical and Vocational Educators

    The purpose of leadership skills among technical and vocational educator are to prepare them towards effective organization. Effective leadership is widely accepted as being a key constituent in achieving organization improvement and to examine. This study aimed to gauge the leadership skills among technical and vocational educators effectiveness by using Katzenmeyer and Moller dimensions which are developmental focus, recognition, autonomy, collegiality, participation, open communication and positive environment. This study also indicated the difference between leadership skills and technical and vocational educator experience. A quantitative study using survey exploration was carried out on 30 vocational and technical educators. The respondent was selected by using random sampling technique among technical and vocational educators and the analysis using SPSS 16.0 through descriptive statistic and t-test. The result indicated that the level of leadership skills were at highest in the collegiality dimension and this analysis show that the data variation is not equal and the analysis show there are no significant relationship between effective leadership of educator and gender. This study is hoped to be used by organization as to increase leadership skill among educators and could increase critical thinking skills, insight, intuition and interpersonal communication including listening and positive impact for an improvement in an organization.     PERSEPSI PELAJAR DALAM KEMAHIRAN PSIKOMOTOR PEMASANGAN KIT MODEL KERETA MENGGUNAKAN CD INTERKATIF

    The Learning of living skills in schools becoming more challenging nowadays. It triggers competition as the world approaching globalism in this 21st century. The modernisation of technology helps in overcoming the gap of difficulties and challenging that humans have to face. This study was conducted in order to determine the students' perception psychomotor skills installation kit car model with the usage of interactive CD. The sample of this study consists of 92 respondent of gender dissimilarity from different schools around Mersing. The questionare of 32 items is used as an instrument in this study. The pilot study was conducted at Sekolah Rendah Agama Bersepadu Mersing with the number of 30 respondents. The mean value of the result based on the item of interest is 4.60 and mean value of the attitude is 4.67 using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (Version 22.0) the perform data analysis. The analysis of data includes the mean score percentage and correlation. This study found the usage of an interactive CD in psychomotor skills model car kit installation is on the higher level. This result shows that the utilization of interactive CD is highly recommended to be implemented in schools since it is attractive useful and helpful in shaping the behaviour and attitude of the students in achieving a topic

    Implementation of Communication in Organization Leadership Administration College of Islamic Studies Johor (MARSAH)

    Communication practices in an organization is important in forming a good relationship between employers and employees subordinate. This research uses qualitative research methods through in-depth interviews with participants consisting of three subordinate management participants working in this college. This study was conducted to identify, understand and explain the implementation of communication in the organization's leadership in the administration of College of Islamic Studies Johor (MARSAH). Exploration undertaken covering such aspects as practiced in the form of communication and organization techniques and styles will be studied to establish bilateral relations between superior and subordinate leaders. Set of interview questions used in this method. Data was analyzed using NVIVO 10. The findings will be used to describe in more detail about the theme of the research questions that have been designated as the type of communication and strategy and leadership style practiced in the administration of the College of Islamic Studies Johor.     The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia has been striving to introduce a new education system in Polytechnics to ensure our education system to achieve a commendable level. Education system have just introduced is known as Work-Based Learning (WBL). The learning aims to provide students who are highly skilled. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the level of WBL outcome and dominant domain of WBL outcome against WBL Polytechnic students Diploma Electronic Engineering (Medical). This study has used quantitative methods involving descriptively questionnaire as an instrument. The respondent consists of 52 people cooperating industrial Advance Pact Sdn.Bhd which manage medical electronic machine at government hospitals around Johor. Quantitative data was analysed descriptively using score mean and standard deviation to see WBL outcome and also dominant domain of WBL outcome against WBL Polytechnic students Diploma Electronic Engineering (Medical). The results of the study found the level of WBL outcome is high and dominant domain of WBL outcome is the domain of professionalism. Overall, Polytechnic students need to have domain of WBL outcome according to the programmes provided at Polytechnic in order to working in the industry later

    Student’s attendance system using QR code

    The purpose of this project is to develop a system that can record the presence of students using QR code. Previously, teachers needed to use paper to record student attendance. There are many problems that arise when teachers use paper as a record of student attendance such as a loss of attendance record and have been taken a long time. The objective of the study is to design a prototype interface of student attendance system using QR code and casing of QR code scanner, to build up the design the prototype interface of student attendance system using QR code and casing of QR code scanner and test the functionality the prototype of interface student attendance system using QR code and casing of QR code scanner. The interface for this system will be integrated with the LabVIEW Software to develop a database. This system can record the attendance of the student to school and a warning letter will be automatically generated when the student does not come to school in 2 days repeatedly. The development process of the Student Attendance System Using QR Code is based on the Prototype Development Model that consists of a five-phase model, that is planning, analysis, design, Prototype development, and testing. The design of casing for QR code scanner was developed using Sketchup software. LabVIEW Software is used to generate interface displays and built-in databases using Microsoft Excel. Overall, the system that has been developed can work well and achieves the objectives set

    CAREER MANAGEMENT COMPETENCY AMONG TECHNICAL STUDENTS: IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COURSE FIELD AND UNIVERSITY

    Purpose of Study: Challenge to place themselves in jobs, require graduate that have high competency in career manage- ment to compete and fulfill the human resource demand. Thus, this research is to find the different technical student in their career management competency between courses field and university. Samples are final year students from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka(UTeM), with sample size (n), are 581. A questionnaire was used as the instruments to measure the career management competency among students. The data were analyzed using an independent t-test and One Way ANOVA to answer the research questions. The finding revealed there is a significant difference in career management competency between students’ courses field, p < .05 and university, p < .05, with mean difference value =0.13. The implication of this study can give a positive picture to the student how to manage their career own then right path. Methodology: This study uses a quantitative approach by using survey method to answer the question of the study. The purpose of this study was to involve the views and perceptions of respondents about the career management competencies to identify the difference career management competency based on the course fields and among the final year of Engineering Technical University students. Results: The data obtained through this study were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)  version 20.0. Table 1 shows the total distribution of 581 students by the university. Table 2 shows the mean score of career management competency based on seven-course fields namely FKMP, FKEE, FKAAS, FKE, FKEKK, FKP, and FKM. Implications/Applications: This research was conducted based on the need to review the competency to manage a career in technical university engineering students. The need to review the career management competency by identifying the differences based on career fields and universities among final year students of Engineering Technical University is based on the lack of research in the relevant field

    Career management competency among vocational skilled military retirees

    The purpose of transition skills training for military retirees are to prepare them towards their retirement plan. Ability to be employed with ease after retirement indicates that the retiree is competent in planning and implementing his plan on employment post military service. This study aimed to gauge the effectiveness of the skills training attended by military retirees and to examine whether there is any difference in the career management competencies of the military retirees if they are trained by different training centres and /or if they enrolled into different training areas. A quantitative study using survey exploration was carried out on 380 low-ranking military retirees. This study used a set of questionnaire adapted from Career Competencies Indicator by Haase and Francis-Smythe (2007). The results indicated that the level of competencies among military retirees were at moderate or middle level. Further, the study revealed that there were variation in competency results obtained by retirees training in different training centres as well as in different areas of skills. This study is hoped to be used by training centers and department of military retiree welfare to prepare for a more effective program to assist military retirees boost up their competence and confidence in acquiring skills for post retirement employment
