Prioritizing the Intangibles among Management Graduates of an Educational Supply Chain; An AHP Approach
Soon after the introduction of liberalization and privatization in India around 1991, people started paying more attention towards management education (Gupta Satapathy, 2012). If one looks at the statistics, one will be surprised to see that earlier, there were only a handful of public and private sector universities and institutions offering degrees in management/business administration and related field. However, in the past one decade or so, the educational supply chain is flooded with new institutions coming forward with diverse specializations (Saha, 2012). It resulted in the waning down of those necessary intangibles which are considered indispensable prerequisites to enter the professional arena. Such intangibles would include the good communication skills, good knowledge of the world economy and its happenings, good command over subjects, good analytical skills, reasonable technical skills, disciplined and a pleasant personality etc. In the view of this problem, this research paper attempts a) to identify those broad intangibles desired by the job market and then, b) to establish priorities among them based on academicians perception. The first objective related to the identification of broad intangibles was met by extensive literature review and for the second one, the primary data were collected from four academicians and priorities were established using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Besides enriching the literature, the outcome of this study will help the aspiring management graduates understand a clear-cut hierarchy of the several desired attributes in terms of their perceived importance given
Construction of Bengali Muslim Identity in Colonial Bengal, c. 1870-1920
This thesis explores the various discourses on the formation of Bengali Muslim identity in colonial Bengal until 1920s before it becomes hardened and used in various politically mobilizable forms. For the purpose of this thesis, I engage multiple articulations of the Bengali Muslim identity to show the fluctuating representations of what and who qualifies as Bengali Muslim in the period from 1870 to 1920. I critically engage with new knowledge production that the colonial census undertook, the different forms of non-fictional Bengali literature produced by the vibrant vernacular print industry, and the views of the English-educated Urdu speaking elites of Bengal from which can be read the ensemble of forces acting upon the formation of a Bengali Muslim identity. I argue that while print played an important role in developing an incipient awareness among Bengali Muslims, the developments and processes of identity formulations varied in different sites thereby producing new nuances on Bengali Muslim identity
Role of banking structure for achievement of monetary policy targets in Pakistan
Thesis(Master) --KDI School:Master of Public Policy,2016In case of Pakistan, empirical findings suggest that the conventional tool of monetary policy i.e. interest rate has not been successful to motivate the banking sector to play pivotal role to keep the inflation at desirable level for sustainable economic growth through lending to private sector. Only banks having foreign back with less than 10% share in overall banking industry shows their timely responsiveness to monitory policy shocks. Rest of the banking structure does not support the channel of transforming the monetary policy through bank lending to private sector.I. Introduction

The effect of performance based grant on research and development at Pakistani Public Universities
Higher education sector of every country has a significant contribution in the development of the society. Similarly, it plays a vital role in the research and development for the prosperity and improvement in social and educational settings. Furthermore, R&D lies under the higher education sector of education system. Government and universities are usually responsible to provide funds and opportunities to facilitate the research progress. But, the education system cannot run if the aforementioned authorities fail to provide sufficient funding. However, since the last few years government of Pakistan has deducted and reduced the performance grant and development budget, which were allocated for higher education institutions. Therefore, this study focused on the performance based grant which is allocated on the base of research outcome of the universities. This research has been conducted to analyze the effect of performance based grant in Pakistani public universities and its impact on research and development performance. Meanwhile, it’s also determined the relationships between performance based grant and R&D performance through the mediating role of goal conflict and information asymmetry. Agency theory is used to support this research as a theoretical framework which aids to analyze the relationship between government (Principal) and the universities (agents) in the context of higher education. In this study both qualitative and quantitative research approaches have been adopted, by implying an exploratory sequential design. Firstly, the qualitative data have been collected through semi-structured interviews from head of departments and treasury officers of Pakistani public universities. On the other hand, the survey questionnaire for quantitative data collection was designed based on the results which acquired through the qualitative approach and from the previous research. The quantitative data was analyzed by using statistical Package for social science (SPSS) version 23 and Smart PLS 3.2.7, Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling software. This research study facilitates the HEC office (policy makers, finance officers etc.) regarding the validity, effectiveness and utilization of performance based grant to examine the effects on R&D performance in higher education sectors. The Effect of Foreign Bank Presence on Domestic Banks Performance: An Evidence from a Developing Economy
This study examines the effect of foreign bank presence on the behaviour of domestic banks by using the annual data of 37 commercial banks comprising of 7 foreign and 30 domestic banks for the time period of 2007 to 2011, to investigate the effect of foreign bank presence five banking ratios, net interest margin, return on assets, overhead, cost to income and nonperforming loans using panel regression analysis employing bank specific fixed effect model. As a developing country case, the results suggest that the increase in foreign bank share effects the interest margins and profitability of domestic banks in a decreasing manner. It wouldn't be erroneous to express that foreign banks have a positive effect on the competitive environment of domestic banks increasing overall banking standard in Pakistan, the licensing policies should be further liberalized to let new entrants further improve the domestic financial intermediation system.
