Increasing Chinese Tourist Gamblers in Macao: Crucial Player Characteristics to Identify and Exploit

Casinos are today considered major tourist attractions and are a strategic component in the development of a tourism destination. Tourist gamblers are an important market segment providing a reliable source of revenue for casinos. It is necessary to understand the characteristics of these gamblers and to design services and products that cater for their needs. Design and Experiments with a Low-Cost Single-Motor Modular Aquatic Robot

We present a novel design for a low-cost robotic boat powered by a single actuator, useful for both modular and swarming applications. The boat uses the conservation of angular momentum and passive flippers to convert the motion of a single motor into an adjustable paddling motion for propulsion and steering. We develop design criteria for modularity and swarming and present a prototype implementing these criteria. A study of occupational health : disclosing homosexuality in the workplace

In this study, the associations among disclosing homosexuality, discrimination and occupational health was examined, as well as the associations among disclosing homosexuality, workplace sexual identity management strategies and occupational health. It is aimed to investigating whether discrimination serves as a moderator between disclosing homosexuality and occupational health, plus whether workplace sexual identity management strategies serves as a mediator between disclosing homosexuality and occupational health. In total, 225 gays and lesbians full-time workers in Hong Kong were participated in this study through completing an online questionnaire. Results showed that discrimination serves as a moderator between disclosure and job satisfaction, and workplace sexual identity management strategies serves as a mediator between disclosure and emotional exhaustion as well as depressive symptoms. A comparison of corporate distress prediction models in Brazil: hybrid neural networks, logit models and discriminant analysis

This paper looks at the ability of a relatively new technique, hybrid ANN's, to predict corporate distress in Brazil. These models are compared with traditional statistical techniques and conventional ANN models. The results suggest that hybrid neural networks outperform all other models in predicting firms in financial distress one year prior to the event. This suggests that for researchers, policymakers and others interested in early warning systems, hybrid networks may be a useful tool for predicting firm failure.hybrid neural networks, corporate failures

Star Formation and Gas Accretion in Nearby Galaxies

In order to quantify the relationship between gas accretion and star formation, we analyse a sample of 29 nearby galaxies from the WHISP survey which contains galaxies with and without evidence for recent gas accretion. We compare combined radial profiles of FUV (GALEX) and IR 24 {\mu}m (Spitzer) characterizing distributions of recent star formation with radial profiles of CO (IRAM, BIMA, or CARMA) and HI (WSRT) tracing molecular and atomic gas contents to examine star formation efficiencies in symmetric (quiescent), asymmetric (accreting), and interacting (tidally disturbed) galaxies. In addition, we investigate the relationship between star formation rate and HI in the outer discs for the three groups of galaxies. Growth dynamics of C60 thin films: effect of molecular structure

The surface morphology and growth behavior of fullerene thin films have been studied by atomic force microscopy and height difference correlation function analysis. In contrast to the large growth exponents (beta) previously reported for other organic semiconductor thin-film materials, a relatively small beta value of 0.39±0.10 was determined. Simulations of (1+1)-dimensional surface lateral diffusion models indicate that the evolution of deep grain boundaries leads to a rapid increase in beta. We suggest that the commonly observed large beta values for organic thin films are due to their intrinsically anisotropic molecular structures and hence different stacking directions between crystallite domains
