Fault identification technology for gear tooth surface wear based on MPE method by MI and improved FNN algorithm
Multiscale Permutation Entropy (MPE) is a presented nonlinear dynamic technology for measuring the randomness and detecting the nonlinear dynamic change of time sequences and can be used effectively to extract the nonlinear dynamic wear fault feature of gear tooth surface from vibration signals of gear set. To solve the subjectivity drawback of threshold parameter selection process in MPE method, a joint calculation method based on the Mutual Information (MI) and improved False Nearest Neighbor (FNN) principle for calculating threshold parameters for MPE method was presented in this article. Then, the influence of threshold parameters on the identification accuracy of fault features with the MPE was studied by analyzing simulation data. Through the simulation analysis, the effectiveness of the proposed MPE method is validated. Finally, the wear failure test of spur gear was carried out, and the proposed method was applied to analyze the experimental data of fault signal. Meanwhile, the vibration characteristics of the fault signal are acquired. The analysis results show that the proposed method can effectively realize the fault diagnosis of gear box and has higher fault identification accuracy than the existing methods
Genome-Wide Association Study and Transcriptome Differential Expression Analysis of the Feather Rate in Shouguang Chickens
The feather rate phenotype in chicks, including early-feathering and late-feathering phenotypes, are widely used as a sexing system in the poultry industry. The objective of this study was to obtain candidate genes associated with the feather rate in Shouguang chickens. In the present study, we collected 56 blood samples and 12 hair follicle samples of flight feathers from female Shouguang chickens. Then we identified the chromosome region associated with the feather rate by genome-wide association analysis (GWAS). We also performed RNA sequencing and analyzed differentially expressed genes between the early-feathering and late-feathering phenotypes using HISAT2, StringTie, and DESeq2. We identified a genomic region of 10.0–13.0 Mb of chromosome Z, which is statistically associated with the feather rate of Shouguang chickens at one-day old. After RNA sequencing analysis, 342 differentially expressed known genes between the early-feathering (EF) and late-feathering (LF) phenotypes were screened out, which were involved in epithelial cell differentiation, intermediate filament organization, protein serine kinase activity, peptidyl-serine phosphorylation, retinoic acid binding, and so on. The sperm flagellar 2 gene (SPEF2) and prolactin receptor (PRLR) gene were the only two overlapping genes between the results of GWAS and differential expression analysis, which implies that SPEF2 and PRLR are possible candidate genes for the formation of the chicken feathering phenotype in the present study. Our findings help to elucidate the molecular mechanism of the feather rate in chicks.</p
Influence of characteristic parameters of signal on fault feature extraction of singular value method
The detection of mechanical fault signals by singular value decomposition is a commonly used method in fault diagnosis. The delay time of the fault signal time series and the rationality of the value of the phase space embedding dimension, as well as the fluctuation of the characteristic parameters of the fault signal, will cause the singular value decomposition method to have a greater impact on the accuracy of fault feature identification and diagnosis. In this article, the simulation model of the similarity signal is established by the combination of the autocorrelation function method and the Cao’s algorithm. Then, the delay time of the signal sequence and the optimal value of the embedded dimension are obtained through simulation. Next, using this method to study the fluctuation of the characteristic parameters such as the frequency, amplitude and initial phase of the signal, the relationship between the characteristic parameters of the signal and the singular value of the signal is obtained. Finally, through the experimental study of the pitting corrosion of the gear tooth surface, the vibration of the fault feature is obtained. The research shows that the combination of autocorrelation function method and Cao's algorithm can calculate the optimal characteristic parameters for the singular value decomposition method and improve the ability of the method to identify fault features
An Investigation for the Friction Torque of a Tapered Roller Bearing Considering the Geometric Homogeneity of Rollers
The geometric homogeneity of rollers, namely the dimension and shape deviations among rollers in a roller bearing, is one of the most important manufacturing errors. However, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, no specified investigation has been carried out on the effects of the geometric homogeneity of rollers on the friction torque of tapered roller bearings (TRBs). By introducing the diameter deviation of rollers and the distribution form of rollers with a diameter deviation, this study presents a mathematic model to reveal the effects of the geometric homogeneity of rollers on the friction torque of TRBs. The geometric homogeneity of the rollers, although having only a minimal influence on the overall friction torque acting on rings, can lead to a significant increase in the slide friction force between the individual rollers and the inner raceway. By comparing the distribution form of rollers with a diameter deviation, the diameter deviation value of the roller shows a significant influence on the maximum sliding friction between the roller and the inner raceway. The impact of the geometric homogeneity of rollers on the sliding friction between the roller and the inner raceway is more pronounced under light load conditions. The above-mentioned comparisons and conclusions can be used in formulating machining error criteria for TRB rollers

Identifying Candidate Genes for Hypoxia Adaptation of Tibet Chicken Embryos by Selection Signature Analyses and RNA Sequencing
The Tibet chicken (Gallus gallus) lives on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau and adapts to the hypoxic environment very well. The objectives of this study was to obtain candidate genes associated with hypoxia adaptation in the Tibet chicken embryos. In the present study, we used the fixation index (Fst) and cross population extended haplotype homozygosity (XPEHH) statistical methods to detect signatures of positive selection of the Tibet chicken, and analyzed the RNA sequencing data from the embryonic liver and heart with HISAT, StringTie and Ballgown for differentially expressed genes between the Tibet chicken and White leghorn (Gallus gallus, a kind of lowland chicken) embryos hatched under hypoxia condition. Genes which were screened out by both selection signature analysis and RNA sequencing analysis could be regarded as candidate genes for hypoxia adaptation of chicken embryos. We screened out 1772 genes by XPEHH and 601 genes by Fst, and obtained 384 and 353 differentially expressed genes in embryonic liver and heart, respectively. Among these genes, 89 genes were considered as candidate genes for hypoxia adaptation in chicken embryos. ARNT, AHR, GSTK1 and FGFR1 could be considered the most important candidate genes. Our findings provide references to elucidate the molecular mechanism of hypoxia adaptation in Tibet chicken embryos
Down-Regulation of MiR-1294 is Related to Dismal Prognosis of Patients with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma through Elevating C-MYC Expression
Aims: Changes in the expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) have been found in many cancers. This study aimed to investigate the expression of miR-1294 in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and its effect on prognosis. The underlying mechanism was explored as well. Methods: We examined the expression of miRNA in human ESCC cancer tissues and adjacent non-tumor controls using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). And the relationship between expressions of miR-1294 and ESCC prognosis was analyzed in this study. Over-expression and knock-down methods were used to investigate the biological functions of miRNA-1294. The effect of miRNA-1294 on cell proliferation was evaluated by MTT. Besides, the function of miR-1294 on cell migration and invasion were evaluated by transwell assays. Results: MiR-1294 was significantly down-regulated in human ESCC tissues compared with the non-tumor controls tissues (P=0.014). And patients with low miR-1294 expression had a significantly poorer prognosis than those with a high miR-1294 expression (P=0.040). Negative association was defined between the expression of miR-1294 and the c-MYC expression in ESCC patients (Pearson correlation, r=-0.299, P=0.0079). Additionally, it was found that miR-1294 suppress esophageal cancer cells proliferation, migration and invasion capacity through targeting c-MYC in vitro. Conclusions: Down-regulation of miR-1294 correlates with poor prognosis of ESCC. It's partially due to the reduced function of c-MYC. This study may give insight into the understanding of pathogenesis of esophageal cancer and provide evidence for diagnosis and treatment of esophageal cancer
Discrepancy in Response of Complete Ammonia Oxidizers and Ammonia-Oxidizing Bacteria and Archaea in the Lhasa River to High-Elevation Conditions
Nitrogen cycle in rivers is significantly
influenced
by ammonia
oxidation, which is driven by ammonia-oxidizing archaea/bacteria (AOA/AOB)
and complete ammonia oxidizers (comammox). However, the performance
of different ammonia oxidizers in high-elevation rivers is poorly
documented. Activity, abundance, diversity, and community composition
of ammonia oxidizers in the Lhasa River were investigated. Unamended
nitrification rates (UNRs) greatly changed and showed remarkable seasonality
and were significantly correlated with solar radiation, dissolved
oxygen (DO), and ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N).
AOB abundance and solar radiation had the strongest direct and indirect
effects on UNR. Comammox amoA gene abundance exceeded
that of AOA and AOB in 96% of the samples. Most comammox sequences
were grouped into clade B, and dominant comammox species were strongly
affected by latitude, water NH4+-N, and total
organic carbon. Temperature and total suspended solids were key factors
explaining the dominance of the AOA species. Nitrosospira and Nitrosovibrio clusters were found
in large proportions in the AOB communities. The co-occurrence pattern
of ammonia oxidizers in the Lhasa River was mainly attributed to interspecific
symbiosis, even though more modules were found in AOB communities.
This provides a comprehensive understanding of the adaptation mechanisms
of ammonia oxidizers and their roles in the nitrogen cycle of plateau
rivers under global climate warming
Protruding Nanostructured Surfaces for Antimicrobial and Osteogenic Titanium Implants
Protruding nanostructured surfaces have gained increasing interest due to their unique wetting behaviours and more recently their antimicrobial and osteogenic properties. Rapid development in nanofabrication techniques that offer high throughput and versatility on titanium substrate open up the possibility for better orthopaedic and dental implants that deter bacterial colonisation while promoting osteointegration. In this review we present a brief overview of current problems associated with bacterial infection of titanium implants and of efforts to fabricate titanium implants that have both bactericidal and osteogenic properties. All of the proposed mechano-bactericidal mechanisms of protruding nanostructured surfaces are then considered so as to explore the potential advantages and disadvantages of adopting such novel technologies for use in future implant applications. Different nanofabrication methods that can be utilised to fabricate such nanostructured surfaces on titanium substrate are briefly discussed.Other UBCNon UBCReviewedFacult
