Fugitive dust is a major part of atmospheric aerosols, increased attention is given to it due to its significant impact on climate change, air quality and human health, and ecosystems. The main part is focused on the study of the vertical distribution of PM1 of up to 500 m a. s. l. which was monitored at selected locations during spring and summer seasons of 2014 using the balloon measuring method. Attention was given to influence of meteorological parameters on PM1 concentrations. Furthermore, distribution of organic matter in the vertical profiles of the atmosphere in the most exposed places was studied using the Py-GC/MS and, using the mathematical methods, contributions of the sources of pollution were identified.Prezen─Źn├ş546 - Institut environment├íln├şho in┼żen├Żrstv├şv├Żborn

Mutations in FUS are the most frequent genetic cause in juvenile sporadic ALS patients of Chinese origin

    No full text
<p>Juvenile onset ALS is a very rare form of motor neuron disease, with the first symptoms of motor neuron degeneration manifested before 25 years of age. Mutations in the alsin (<i>ALS2</i>), senataxin (<i>SETX</i>), and spatacsin (<i>SPG11</i>) genes have been associated with familial ALS with juvenile onset and slow progression, whereas the genetic architecture of sporadic juvenile ALS remains unclear. We screened mutations in <i>C9orf72</i>, <i>SOD1</i>, <i>FUS</i>, <i>TARDBP</i>, <i>ANG</i>, <i>VCP</i> and <i>PFN1</i> in 16 juvenile sporadic ALS patients. Four cases (25%) carrying FUS mutations and one individual (6%) harbouring a SOD1 mutation were identified. All cases had an aggressive disease course. Our results suggest that FUS mutations are the most frequent genetic cause in early-onset sporadic ALS patients of Chinese origin. Genetic testing of FUS should be performed in early-onset ALS patients especially those with an aggressive disease course.</p

<p>Microglia in the cortex of 4- and 14-month-old SD rats (A), 3- and 12-month-old C57BL/6 mice (D) were immunostained by Iba1, a marker of microglia (Scale barÔÇŐ=ÔÇŐ100 ┬Ám). The fractal dimension value analysis was used to evaluate the activation of microglia in the brains of different group of animals. Lower fractal dimension value indicates higher activity of microglia. We divided the fractal dimension value of the microglia into four grades (>1.3, 1.2ÔÇô1.3, 1.1ÔÇô1.2, <1.1), and the percentages of microglia with different grades were shown in B and E, the differences of the same grade between the different age of animals were shown in C and F (n>43 cells/group). Data were presented as means ┬▒ S.D.. * <i>p</i><0.05, ** <i>p</i><0.01 versus 4-month-old SD rats/3-month-old C57BL/6 mice.</p

Additional file 1: of Central blockade of NLRP3 reduces blood pressure via regulating inflammation microenvironment and neurohormonal excitation in salt-induced prehypertensive rats

Figure S1. Salt-induced prehypertension is partly due to the role of NLRP3 in PVN, via an inflammatory mechanism. Blockade of brain NLRP3 attenuates prehypertensive response, possibly via downregulating the cascade reaction triggered by inflammation and restoring the balance of neurotransmitters (PPTX 203 kb

<p>In cultured rat microglia, the plasmid of human tau40-EGFP or vector-EGFP was transfected for 24 h. Then <i>in vitro</i> scratch assay was performed and the images of migration were captured at 0 h, 6 h, 12 h and 24 h after scratching with confocal microscope (A) (Scale barÔÇŐ=ÔÇŐ100 ┬Ám). The migration rate of microglia was quantified by the distance that the EGFP positive cells moved from the edge of the scratch towards the center per hour. The average migration rates of the EGFP positive microglia in 0ÔÇô6 h, 6ÔÇô12 h and 12ÔÇô24 h were calculated from three independent experiments (B). Data were presented as means ┬▒ S.D.. * <i>p</i><0.05, ** <i>p</i><0.01 versus vector-transfected cells.</p

<p>Microglia in the brain slices were co-immunostained with Iba1 (green) and Tau46 (an antibody recognizing total tau) or AT8 (an antibody recognizing phosphorylated tau at Ser202/Thr205) (red). In contrast with the ramified microglia (arrow heads), ameboid microglia (arrows) showed increased total tau (A, C) and the phosphorylated tau (E, G) (Scale barÔÇŐ=ÔÇŐ20 ┬Ám). The relative levels of integrated optical density (IOD) of Tau46/AT8 in microglia with different grades of fractal dimension value were shown in B, D, F, H. Data were presented as means ┬▒ S.D.. ** <i>p</i><0.01 versus microglia with fractal dimension value <1.1.</p

We report the epitaxial growth of oxygen deficient titanium dioxide thin films on 0.7Pb┬ş(Mg1/3Nb2/3)┬şO3-0.3PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) single crystals and realized highly effective in situ electrostatic manipulation of electrotransport and magnetism of TiO2Ôłĺ╬┤ films via gate voltages. Upon the polarization switching in the PMN-PT, the carrier density of the TiO2Ôłĺ╬┤ film could be reversibly modified, resulting in a large nonvolatile resistivity modulation by Ôł╝51% at <i>T</i> = 300 K, approximately 4ÔÇô12 times larger than that of other transition-metal oxide film/PMN-PT structures. By taking advantage of in situ manipulation of the carrier density via gate voltages, we found that competition between the trap of electrons by the Ti3+-<i>V</i>O pairs and that by the positive polarization charges at the interface results in a significant resistivity relaxation upon the polarization switching, and revealed that magnetization is inversely correlated with the carrier density of the TiO2Ôłĺ╬┤ film. Such hybrid structures combining materials with dissimilar functionalities may have potential applications in multifunctional devices which can take advantage of the useful and unique properties of both materials
