Invariant states and rates of Convergence for a critical fluid model of a processor sharing queue
This paper contains an asymptotic analysis of a fluid model for a heavily
loaded processor sharing queue. Specifically, we consider the behavior of
solutions of critical fluid models as time approaches \infty. The main theorems
of the paper provide sufficient conditions for a fluid model solution to
converge to an invariant state and, under slightly more restrictive
assumptions, provide a rate of convergence. These results are used in a related
work by Gromoll for establishing a heavy traffic diffusion approximation for a
processor sharing queue
An economic study of an advanced technology supersonic cruise vehicle
A description is given of the methods used and the results of an economic study of an advanced technology supersonic cruise vehicle. This vehicle was designed for a maximum range of 4000 n.mi. at a cruise speed of Mach 2.7 and carrying 292 passengers. The economic study includes the estimation of aircraft unit cost, operating cost, and idealized cash flow and discounted cash flow return on investment. In addition, it includes a sensitivity study on the effects of unit cost, manufacturing cost, production quantity, average trip length, fuel cost, load factor, and fare on the aircraft's economic feasibility

Survey of projected growth and problems facing air transportation, 1975 - 1985
Results are presented of a survey conducted to determine the current opinion of people working in air transportation demand forecasting on the future of air transportation over the next ten years. In particular, the survey included questions on future demand growth, load factor, fuel prices, introduction date for the next new aircraft, the priorities of problems facing air transportation, and the probability of a substantial change in air transportation regulation. The survey participants included: airlines, manufacturers, universities, government agencies, and other organizations (financial institutions, private research companies, etc.). The results are shown for the average responses within the organization represented as well as the overall averages
A method for the analysis of the benefits and costs for aeronautical research and technology
A relatively simple, consistent, and reasonable methodology for performing cost-benefit analyses which can be used to guide, justify, and explain investments in aeronautical research and technology is presented. The elements of this methodology (labeled ABC-ART for the Analysis of the Benefits and Costs of Aeronautical Research and Technology) include estimation of aircraft markets; manufacturer costs and return on investment versus aircraft price; airline costs and return on investment versus aircraft price and passenger yield; and potential system benefits--fuel savings, cost savings, and noise reduction. The application of this methodology is explained using the introduction of an advanced turboprop powered transport aircraft in the medium range market in 1978 as an example
