"Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay" at a Neutrino Factory
We examine the prospects of detecting an analogous process of neutrinoless
double beta decay at a neutrino factory from a high energy muon storage ring.
Limits from LEP experiments, neutrinoless double beta decay as well as from
global fits have to be incorporated and severely restrict the results. We
investigate what limits on light and heavy effective Majorana neutrino masses
can be obtained and compare them with existing ones. Discussed are also
contributions from right-handed neutrinos and purely right-handed interactions.
Other ``new physics'' contributions to the same final state might produce large
event numbers.Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures, Section 4.3 revise
A simple connection between neutrino oscillation and leptogenesis
The usual see-saw formula is modified by the presence of two Higgs triplets
in left-right symmetric theories. The contribution from the left-handed Higgs
triplet to the see-saw formula can dominate over the conventional one when the
neutrino Dirac mass matrix is identified with the charged lepton or down quark
mass matrix. In this case an analytic calculation of the lepton asymmetry,
generated by the decay of the lightest right-handed Majorana neutrino, is
possible. For typical parameters, the out-of-equilibrium condition for the
decay is automatically fulfilled. The baryon asymmetry has the correct order of
magnitude, as long as the lightest mass eigenstate is not much lighter then
10^{-6} to 10^{-8} eV, depending on the solution of the solar neutrino problem.
A sizable signal in neutrinoless double beta decay can be expected, as long as
the smallest mass eigenstate is not much lighter than 10^{-3} eV and the Dirac
mass matrix is identified with the charged lepton mass matrix.Comment: 16 pages, 3 figures. One paragraph and some references added, typos

Signatures of Extra Dimensional Sterile Neutrinos
We study a large extra dimension model with active and sterile Dirac neutrinos. The sterile neutrino masses stem from compactification of an extra dimension with radius and are chosen to have masses around eV or keV, in order to explain short-baseline anomalies or act as warm dark matter candidates. We study the effect of the sterile neutrino Kaluza-Klein tower in short-baseline oscillation experiments and in the beta spectrum as measurable by KATRIN-like experiments
Bounds on effective Majorana neutrino masses at HERA
The lepton-number violating process e p \to nu_e l l' X mediated by Majorana
neutrinos is studied for the HERA collider for (l l') = (e tau), (mu tau), (mu
mu) and (tau tau). Only the muonic decay of the tau is considered. The direct
limit on the effective muon Majorana mass, is improved
significantly to 4.0 times 10^3 GeV and for the first time direct limits on the
analogous effective masses connected with the tau sector are given, namely 4.2
times 10^3 GeV for , 4.4 times 10^3 GeV for and 2.0
times 10^4 GeV for . We find that a more general analysis for an
upgraded HERA could improve this values by a factor of up to 40, yet still
being orders of magnitude worse than indirect limits.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures, revised versio
