Note: An object detection method for active camera
To solve the problems caused by a changing background during object detection in active camera, this paper proposes a new method based on SURF (speeded up robust features) and data clustering. The SURF feature points of each image are extracted, and each cluster center is calculated by processing the data clustering of k adjacent frames. Templates for each class are obtained by calculating the histograms within the regions around the center points of the clustering classes. The window of the moving object can be located by finding the region that satisfies the histogram matching result between adjacent frames. Dynamics of Vesicle Formation from Lipid Droplet: Mechanism and Controllability
A coarse-grained model developed by Marrink et al. [J. Phys. Chem. B 111,
7812 (2007)] is applied to investigate vesiculation of lipid
[dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC)] droplets in water. Three kinds of
morphologies of micelles are found with increasing lipid droplet size. When the
initial lipid droplet is smaller, the equilibrium structure of the droplet is a
spherical micelle. When the initial lipid droplet is larger, the lipid ball
starts to transform into a disk micelle or vesicle. The mechanism of vesicle
formation from a lipid ball is analyzed from the self-assembly of DPPC on the
molecular level, and the morphological transition from disk to vesicle with
increasing droplet size is demonstrated. Importantly, we discover that the
transition point is not very sharp, and for a fixed-size lipid ball, the disk
and vesicle appear with certain probabilities. The splitting phenomenon, i.e.,
the formation of a disk/vesicle structure from a lipid droplet, is explained by
applying a hybrid model of the Helfrich membrane theory. The elastic module of
the DPPC bilayer and the smallest size of a lipid droplet for certain formation

Koszul differential graded algebras and BGG correspondence
The concept of Koszul differential graded algebra (Koszul DG algebra) is
introduced. Koszul DG algebras exist extensively, and have nice properties
similar to the classic Koszul algebras. A DG version of the Koszul duality is
proved. When the Koszul DG algebra is AS-regular, the Ext-algebra of
is Frobenius. In this case, similar to the classical BGG correspondence,
there is an equivalence between the stable category of finitely generated left
-modules, and the quotient triangulated category of the full triangulated
subcategory of the derived category of right DG -modules consisting of all
compact DG modules modulo the full triangulated subcategory consisting of all
the right DG modules with finite dimensional cohomology. The classical BGG

An extensible product structure model for product lifecycle management in the make-to-order environment
This paper presents a product structure model with a semantic representation technique that make the product structure extensible for developing product lifecycle management (PLM) systems that is flexible for make-to-order environment. In the make-to-order business context, each product could have a number of variants with slightly different constitutions to fulfill different customer requirements. All the variants of a family have common characteristics and each variant has its specific features. A master-variant pattern is proposed for building the product structure model to explicitly represent common characteristics and specific features of individual variants. The model is capable of enforcing the consistency of a family structure and its variant structure, supporting multiple product views, and facilitating the business processes. A semantic representation technique is developed that enables entity attributes to be defined and entities to be categorized in a neutral and semantic format. As a result, entity attributes and entity categorization can be redefined easily with its configurable capability for different requirements of the PLM systems. An XML-based language is developed for semantically representing entities and entity categories. A prototype as a proof-of-concept system is presented to illustrate the capability of the proposed extensible product structure model
A Note on the DQ Analysis of Anisotropic Plates
Recently, Bert, Wang and Striz [1, 2] applied the differential quadrature
(DQ) and harmonic differential quadrature (HDQ) methods to analyze static and
dynamic behaviors of anisotropic plates. Their studies showed that the methods
were conceptually simple and computationally efficient in comparison to other
numerical techniques. Based on some recent work by the present author [3, 4],
the purpose of this note is to further simplify the formulation effort and
improve computing efficiency in applying the DQ and HDQ methods for these
