Detecting Multipartite Classical States and their Resemblances
We study various types of multipartite states lying near the
quantum-classical boundary. The class of so-called classical states are
precisely those in which each party can perform a projective measurement to
identify a locally held state without disturbing the global state, a task known
as non-disruptive local state identification (NDLID). We introduce a new class
of states called generalized-classical states which allow for NDLID when the
most general quantum measurements are permitted. A simple analytic method as
well as a physical criterion are presented for detecting whether a multipartite
state is classical. To decide whether a state is generalized-classical, we
provide a semi-definite programming algorithm which can be adapted for use in
other unrelated contexts such as signal processing

A Case Study: Third Party Performance-Based Navigation Instrument Flight Procedure Design Regulations at the Federal Aviation Administration, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia, and the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand
The Instrument Flight Procedure (IFP) [A listing of all acronyms and definitions is provided in Appendix A] is an essential component to the aviation system. Every day and during every flight, thousands of aircraft around the world are flying instrument departure, arrival, or approach procedures (International Civil Aviation Organization, 2008). Historically, Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) have relied on internal resources to produce and implement (develop, publish, flight inspect, perform quality assurance functions, and maintain) IFPs (Federal Aviation Administration, 2009). Today safety, access, environmental and capacity concerns have, in some cases, driven the demand for Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) IFPs beyond the capability or production capacity of many CAAs. Accordingly, commercial entities, referred to as Third Party Instrument Flight Procedure Designers (TPIFPD), have responded to the demand with service and product offerings to fill the need. Because of the potential entry for multiple TPIFPDs in the short-term, there is concern that the production of high-performance PBN IFPs by TPIFPDs is sensitive to the need for definitive regulatory guidance and oversight (Hughes, FAA OKs Outsourcing of RNP Design, 2007).
The introduction of TPIFPD products and services into the aviation system will bring both new opportunities and demands to PBN IFP production and implementation. Applying what the industry has learned from the past, an explicit, clear, and authoritative set of regulatory material must be identified to ensure an orderly and safe transition for TPIFPDs. The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAANZ), the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have all endeavored to create regulatory material to address this need. Unfortunately for TPIFPDs this regulatory material has not been harmonized or standardized to ensure consistency and means of compliance.
This paper presents a preliminary qualitative case study of TPIFPD operations and oversight requirements as defined by FAA Draft Advisory Circular 90-TPA, CASA CAR Part 173, and CAANZ CAR Part 173. While each of the aforementioned CAAs have established regulatory material on the subject it was the goal of this study to compare and contrast existing requirements to support the harmonization and fortification of future regulatory material on the subject

How smart is the Italian domestic environment? A quantitative study
The market for smart home products in Italy appears to be growing quicker than in other European countries. Continuous technological advances have lowered the price for entry products, allowing more families to acquire smart solutions. Meanwhile, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the importance of the domestic environment as a hybrid space where to conduct different activities that require smart and connected appliances has significantly grown. Ultimately, economic and social instability has produced a higher awareness of energy consumption, bringing many users to question their lifestyle choices and look for smarter and greener solutions. The evolution of living conditions through the growth of smart technology in houses and apartments must be explored by interaction designers, to provide effective user experiences of smart artifacts, that need to seamlessly connect with one another and function together, within a complex, multimodal environment. Considering this, the paper presents the results of a quantitative study carried out at the end of 2021, through an online survey that was completed by 135 respondents. Data are analysed by grouping the respondents in 3 categories: single tenants, couples or roommates (unrelated to each other), and families (at least one parent with their offspring). Different visualizations highlight which rooms are "smarter"-although Italian households appear to be less technological than expected. The main findings concern the relationship between wider technological ecosystems and larger groups of tenants living together, and how the ownership of a smart product leads to the acquisition of other products-thus building a complex network of non-human players
Land Loss and Garifuna Women’s Activism on Honduras’ North Coast
This paper reports on the gendered impacts of Honduras’ neoliberal agrarian legislation within the context of tourism development. It draws on ethnographic research with the Afro-indigenous Garifuna to demonstrate how women have been most affected by land privatization on the north coast of Honduras. Garifuna communities are matrifocal and land had historically been passed through matrilineal lines. As the coastal land market expands, Garifuna women have lost their territorial control. The paper also treats Garifuna women’s activism as they resist coastal development strategies and shifts in landholding. While women have been key figures in the Garifuna movement to title and reclaim lost ancestral land, the movement as a whole has yet to make explicit the gendered dimensions of the land struggle. The neglect may be attributed to the activists’ adoption of an indigenous rights discourse
X-ray tracing using Geant4
We describe an extension to the Geant4 software package that allows it to be
used as a general purpose X-ray tracing package. We demonstrate its use by
building a model of the X-ray optics of the XMM-Newton, calculating its
effective area, and comparing the results with the published calibration
