The present study investigates the approach and insight of librarians towards the marketing of library sources and services in academic libraries of Balochistan. A quantitative research design and survey research method were used to determine the appropriateness of the chosen population. The population comprises library professionals e.g. Librarians, assistant Librarians, and the same grade of library staff. A structured questionnaire was designed to collect data from the chosen population. There were 90 questionnaires were distributed among the chosen population but 73 were returned back with full responses. The response ratio was 81%. the findings of the study revealed that the majority of the respondents were male 70 (95.9%) and only 3(4.1%) were female. Most of the respondents have done MLIS with 26(35.6%) and least were M.Phil. 2(2.7%). The ages of the respondents were 28(38.4%) were a range from 31 to 40years. the respondents were answered about “awareness” 53 (72.6%) and “to great extent” with 40(54.8%). The respondents were replied all the sources and services are available. The respondents showed their agreement about the benefit where most of them answered with “to achieve customer satisfaction” with (m: 1.1351) and showed their attitude about issues where most of them replied, “lack of authority support” (m: 2.3425). According to the findings of the study some of the suggestions have been posted for future concern e.g. higher authority should support library staff to launch this method and bring their customers to one place as well as improve their library images

The importance of Social media in academic libraries cannot be denied and overstated. The rapidly growing need for social media and its associated tool are creating problems and comfort for both uses and producers. The academic libraries have accepted the changes due to the demand, need, and expectation of library users. The prime objectives of the study were to find out the perception, use, issues, factors and marketing among the library professional in academic libraries of Balochistan, the descriptive survey method were used to complete this paper. The sample size was comprised of 67 library professionals. The data has been collected through structured questionnaires. The collection has been analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study revealed that Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and LinkedIn were the top using social media among academic library staff. The library staff uses these media to disseminate library services. The findings expressed that social media also used for the marking of library services. On the other hand some of the issues that were creating problems for the library staff to prevent using social media such as poor internet, authority support too many social media to learn, and so on. On the basis of these findings, some recommendations have been forwarded that the higher authority should incorporate internet facilities that enable library staff to use social media. The authority should exceed the library budget to make things possible for them

FedLion: Faster Adaptive Federated Optimization with Fewer Communication

In Federated Learning (FL), a framework to train machine learning models across distributed data, well-known algorithms like FedAvg tend to have slow convergence rates, resulting in high communication costs during training. To address this challenge, we introduce FedLion, an adaptive federated optimization algorithm that seamlessly incorporates key elements from the recently proposed centralized adaptive algorithm, Lion (Chen et al. 2o23), into the FL framework. Through comprehensive evaluations on two widely adopted FL benchmarks, we demonstrate that FedLion outperforms previous state-of-the-art adaptive algorithms, including FAFED (Wu et al. 2023) and FedDA. Moreover, thanks to the use of signed gradients in local training, FedLion substantially reduces data transmission requirements during uplink communication when compared to existing adaptive algorithms, further reducing communication costs. Last but not least, this work also includes a novel theoretical analysis, showcasing that FedLion attains faster convergence rate than established FL algorithms like FedAvg.Comment: ICASSP 202

The prime purpose of the study is to investigate the concept of social media; the impact of social media, the importance of social media, and the issues of using social media in libraries. The present study was based on a qualitative research method. The relevant data has been accessed and retrieved from google.com and Google scholars. The data has been reviewed according to the set of research questions. The research findings revealed that there is a massive impact of social media on library sources and services. Social media are very important for libraries to promote their services and sources. On the other hand, the libraries are facing too many issues which are creating problems in the adoption of social media in the libraries. It is obvious that social media have great potential to reach library customers and it helps libraries to provide up to date and timing information to their customers. It would be better to resolve all the issues before launching social media in the libraries

Purpose: the prime purpose of this research study is to investigate the application of social media in the marketing of library sources and Services in the university libraries of Pakistan. Research Design/Methodology/approach: Data were gathered using a survey method and a quantitative research methodology. The Pakistani university librarians were the source of the data, which was gathered both offline and online. With the aid of SPSS and other analysis software, 100 valid responses in all have been examined. Findings: the Research findings revealed that university librarians of Pakistan are well aware of the very application of social media in the marketing of library sources and services. The result shows that majority of the university libraries are using social media for the marketing of library sources and services. However, the librarians have identified that Facebook is a more suitable tool for the marketing of library sources and services. The research result has confirmed that university librarians are well aware of the needed skills and knowledge how to implement social networking sites to market the library sources and services. The results also described that university librarians use some of the tools/methods to analyze the marketing feasibility at the country level Practical Implications: This research helps library and information workers at the international and national levels understand how social networks might be used to provide library resources. Limitation: the present Research is purely consisted to the university librarian four provinces and twin cities of Pakistan. Originality/value: This research demonstrates the value of social networking sites platforms for the marketing of library resources and services and makes a contribution to the fields of library and information science and information management. Flexible marketing platform should be created by the university libraries using social networks sites in order to promote their resources and services. The higher authority should support this effort

Universities have gathered abundant innovation resources, which are important carriers for innovation implementation and an important component of the national innovation system. Studying how to achieve high innovation performance in universities is of great significance. Based on the innovation ecological systems theory, this paper examines how the combination of intellectual resources, financial support, evaluation system, collaboration system, talent attraction, and peer pressure can lead to high innovation performance of universities. This paper constructs an analytical framework of “factor-system-space” and uses necessary condition analysis (NCA) methods and Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to empirically analyze the data of 40 universities in China. This article finds that at a lower level of funding and intellectual resources, intellectual resources and financial support are necessary for high talent innovation performance, and different levels of innovation performance have different requirements for conditions. There are three types of configurations that generate high innovation performance, namely institutional boosting under spatial dependence, institutional boosting under factor dependence, and factor-spatial dual drive

Background:Methamphetamine induces neuronal N-acetyl-aspartate synthesis in preclinical studies. In a preliminary human proton magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging investigation, we also observed that N-acetyl-aspartate+N-acetyl-aspartyl-glutamate in right inferior frontal cortex correlated with years of heavy methamphetamine abuse. In the same brain region, glutamate+glutamine is lower in methamphetamine users than in controls and is negatively correlated with depression. N-acetyl and glutamatergic neurochemistries therefore merit further investigation in methamphetamine abuse and the associated mood symptoms. Methods:Magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging was used to measure N-acetyl-aspartate+N-acetyl-aspartyl-glutamate and glutamate+glutamine in bilateral inferior frontal cortex and insula, a neighboring perisylvian region affected by methamphetamine, of 45 abstinent methamphetamine-dependent and 45 healthy control participants. Regional neurometabolite levels were tested for group differences and associations with duration of heavy methamphetamine use, depressive symptoms, and state anxiety. Results:In right inferior frontal cortex, N-acetyl-aspartate+N-acetyl-aspartyl-glutamate correlated with years of heavy methamphetamine use (r = +0.45); glutamate+glutamine was lower in methamphetamine users than in controls (9.3%) and correlated negatively with depressive symptoms (r = -0.44). In left insula, N-acetyl-aspartate+N-acetyl-aspartyl-glutamate was 9.1% higher in methamphetamine users than controls. In right insula, glutamate+glutamine was 12.3% lower in methamphetamine users than controls and correlated negatively with depressive symptoms (r = -0.51) and state anxiety (r = -0.47). Conclusions:The inferior frontal cortex and insula show methamphetamine-related abnormalities, consistent with prior observations of increased cortical N-acetyl-aspartate in methamphetamine-exposed animal models and associations between cortical glutamate and mood in human methamphetamine users
