    Nuclear physics for geo-neutrino studies

Geo-neutrino studies are based on theoretical estimates of geo-neutrino spectra. We propose a method for a direct measurement of the energy distribution of antineutrinos from decays of long-lived radioactive isotopes. We present preliminary results for the geo-neutrinos from Bi-214 decay, a process which accounts for about one half of the total geo-neutrino signal. The feeding probability of the lowest state of Bi-214 - the most important for geo-neutrino signal - is found to be p_0 = 0.177 \pm 0.004 (stat) ^{+0.003}_{-0.001} (sys), under the hypothesis of Universal Neutrino Spectrum Shape (UNSS). This value is consistent with the (indirect) estimate of the Table of Isotopes (ToI). We show that achievable larger statistics and reduction of systematics should allow to test possible distortions of the neutrino spectrum from that predicted using the UNSS hypothesis. Implications on the geo-neutrino signal are discussed.Comment: 8 pages RevTex format, 8 figures and 2 tables. Submitted to PR

Chinese current institution and political system are different from the Western developed countries. Under this system, many executives of private listed companies are relevant to politics. Therefore the study of political influence of private companies related to this issue in China is more realistic instructive. This paper focuses on whether the company has the political connection, which measu...学位:管理学硕士院系专业:管理学院财务学系_财务学学号:1762007115174

Spectroscopy of geoneutrinos from 2056 days of Borexino data

    No full text
We report an improved geo-neutrino measurement with Borexino from 2056 days of data taking. The present exposure is (5.5±0.3)×1031 proton×yr. Assuming a chondritic Th/U mass ratio of 3.9, we obtain 23.7+6.5−5.7(stat)+0.9−0.6(sys) geo-neutrino events. The null observation of geo-neutrinos with Borexino alone has a probability of 3.6×10−9 (5.9σ). A geo-neutrino signal from the mantle is obtained at 98\% C.L. The radiogenic heat production for U and Th from the present best-fit result is restricted to the range 23-36 TW, taking into account the uncertainty on the distribution of heat producing elements inside the Earth

Double-hit signature of millicharged particles in 3D segmented neutrino detector

    No full text
International audienceWe calculate the production of hypothetical millicharged particles (MCPs) of sub-GeV masses by the J-PARC proton beam in the framework of T2K and future T2HK neutrino oscillation experiments. Concentrating on the region of model parameter space, where an MCP can hit the near neutrino detector twice, we adopt this background-free signature to estimate the sensitivity of T2K and T2HK experiments to MCPs. We find that a previously inaccessible in direct searches region of charges 5×10−4-10−2e for MCP masses 0.1-0.5 GeV can be probed

Heavy Neutral Leptons from kaon decays in the SHiP experiment

    No full text
International audienceWe calculate the signal rate of hypothetical heavy neutral leptons (HNL or sterile neutrinos) from kaon decays expected in the framework of the SHiP experiment. The kaons are produced in the hadronic shower initiated in the beam-dump mode by 400 GeV protons from CERN SPS. For a sufficiently light HNL (when the decays are kinematically allowed) we find kaon decays to be a noticeably richer source of HNL as compared to D -meson decays adopted in previous studies of the HNL phenomenology at SHiP. In particular, SHiP is capable of fully exploring the central part of the kinematically allowed region of the HNL mass and mixing with electron and muon neutrinos down to the lower cosmological bound. The latter is associated with HNL decays in the early Universe to energetic products rescattering off and thus destroying light nuclei produced at the primordial nucleosynthesis. A consistency of the HNL model with smaller mixing would require either a hierarchy – much larger mixing of all the HNL with tau neutrino – or non-standard cosmology and new ingredients in the HNL sector, closing the room for the minimal non-seesaw type I model with sterile neutrinos lighter than kaons

Analysis of a severe beyond design basis accident for the EGP-6 reactor of the Bilibino NPP. Radioactive source term determination

    No full text
Analysis was performed of dynamic phase of severe accident of the EGP-6 reactor of the Bilibino NPP, due to uncontrolled reactivity insertion initiated by withdrawal of two pare of automatic control rods with followed by full failure of reactor emergency protection system. This initial event leads to promt increasing of reactor core power up to 450% of nominal value with short period, coupled with rise of temperature of fuel, pressure and temperature of coolant. These factors lead to crisis of heat exchange with subsequent ruptures tubes of fuel assemblies and coolant blow down into graphite stack. All its lead to rise of pressure in reactor shell and damage of it, outflow of steam-water mixture through up-reactor area to ventilation system, communication corridors and reactor hall and further – to atmospheric release. Transient processes were calculated using code RELAP5/Mod3.2. It was considered stages of processes of fuel damage and evaluated dynamic of a number and degree of damaged fuel assembles. They were grouped on burn-up and for each group it was performed analysis of dynamic of damage values. Further it was considered processes of yield of fission products from damaged fuel with models, based on experimental data on yield of fission products from fuel material, used in assembles of Bilibino NPP fuel type (fuel tubes with steel cladding, where fuel material is grits of uranium dioxide in magnesium), under condition of severe accident, especially performed in SSC IPPE. Transport of fission products with steam and air up to release points was evaluated with models, based on experimental data of fission product transport through graphite stack under conditions of severe accident, also especially performed in SSC IPPE. Evaluation of source term was performed in accordance with accident dynamic and assumed modes of release for conservative and most possible approaches. It was noted good self-protection property of EGP-6 reactor under severe beyond design basis accident condition
