    Dilema Keamanan dan Respons Kolektif ASEAN Terhadap Sengketa Laut Cina Selatan

    The article aims to explain two dimensions of political-security in the South China Sea. First, the collective response of ASEAN in an effort to maintain security stability in the South China Sea by looking the belief system of interested parties. Second, the configuration of extra-regional power within the sphere of influence in the disputed area. This article uses perception theory and the concept of security dilemma. The data and information of this article obtained from secondary sources which are interpreted to produce descriptive analytical explanations. The article indicates that some of the South China Sea interested parties which are ASEAN members has different belief systems in perceiving security threats that are increasingly complicated by the configuration of extra-regional power.Artikel ini bertujuan menjelaskan dua aspek politik keamanan di Laut Cina Selatan. Pertama, peran kolektif ASEAN dalam usaha memelihara stabilitas keamanan di Laut Cina Selatan dengan melihat pada aspek sistem keyakinan masing-masing negara yang berkepentingan. Kedua, konfigurasi kekuatan ekstra-regional dalam lingkup pengaruh pada kawasan yang dipersengketakan. Analisis dalam artikel ini menggunakan konsep Dilema Keamanan dan teori Persepsi. Data dan informasi dalam artikel ini diperoleh melalui telaah literatur dari sumber sekunder yang diinterpretasikan sehingga menghasilkan penjelasan yang bersifat analitis deskriptif. Artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian negara penuntut Laut Cina Selatan yang tergabung dalam ASEAN memiliki sistem keyakinan yang berbeda dalam mempersepsikan ancaman keamanan yang semakin diperumit oleh konfigurasi kekuatan ekstra-regional

    The Effectiveness of ASEAN Cooperation in Marine Environmental Protection (MEP) in South China Sea (SCS)

    This research aims to examine ASEAN cooperation in responding to issues related to marine environmental security due to the exploration of resources in the South China Sea (SCS) region. This research analyze two aspects of environmental security, consist of (1) ASEAN’s collective role in maintaining environmental security and production in the SCS to realize environmental and human security, and (2) the effectiveness of ASEAN cooperation in responding to environmental problems in the SCS through international regime effectiveness theory developed by Arild Underdal. This study utilized a qualitative method by comparing the development of ASEAN MEP cooperation and problem-solving capacity before and after the Declaration for a Decade of Coastal and Marine Environmental Protection in the South China Sea containing institutional setting, power distribution, instrumental leadership, and collaboration level between ASEAN, the epistemic community, and behavioral changes. Data and information obtained from primary sources such as ASEAN official documents and secondary sources consisted of scientific journals and web articles. The findings indicate that ASEAN MEP cooperation has developed towards effectiveness but has not reached the optimum point in solving maritime problems in the SCS.

    AbstrakMasalah terorisme adalah masalah yang signifikan setelah serangan World Trade Center pada 11 September 2012. Kasus ini mengancam negara-negara muslim di dunia. Meskipun begitu, ini tidak bisa menjadi dasar bahwa orang-orang Muslim di dunia adalah seorang teroris. Terorisme telah menjadi salah satu ancaman non-tradisional yang bisa membahayakan orang dalam skala besar. Oleh karena itu, persepsi pendekatan dan konsep keamanan non-tradisional menjadi salah satu cara yang akan digunakan dalam makalah ini. Untuk memandu jalannya penelitian ini, beberapa tujuan yang harus dicapai dalam penelitian ini telah dirumuskan. Tujuan tersebut adalah mengembangkan kajian akademik untuk menghadapi tantangan yang dihadapi oleh negara-negara di Asia Tenggara, untuk menganalisis paradoks keamanan kolektif ASEAN dalam memerangi terorisme.Kata-kata Kunci: terrorisme, keamanan kolektif, teori persepsi, kebijakan, Asia Tenggara. But this can’t be the basis that the people of the world's Muslim is a terrorist. Terrorism has become one of the non-traditional threats that could endanger other people on a large scale. Therefore, perceptions approaches and non-traditional security concept to be one way to be used in this paper. To guide the course of this research, several objectives that needs to be achieved in this study has been formulated.     Idea, Identity and Interesubjective Means of India Act East Foreign Policy towards Taiwan

    This article aims to examine the reason why India is continuing to maintain cooperation with Taiwan through the “Act East” policy, even though it has not provided high benefits for India? In order to answer the question, this article employed a constructivism perspective related to foreign policy analysis. In constructivism foreign policy analysis, ideas and identity are vital for the state. India's “Act East” towards Taiwan reflects some element of constructivism which encompass ideas, national identity and intersubjective means that influences preference, policy choice and state interest. The first, India’s “Act East” is an idea to revive strategic and historical relations with Taiwan. Second, the positive India-Taiwan intersubjective process formed a shared understanding based on the values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the norms. Third, the national identity as an emerging power puts India to coexist peacefully with Taiwan and maintain security as well as stability in the region

    This study compares the perceptions of foreign policy of the two South Korean leaders, Moon Jae In and Yoon Suk Yeol. The comparison of perceptions leads to the continuation of the defense alliance cooperation with the United States. The political transition is very visible in the two figures in building the progress of cooperation. Moon is known as a liberal-leaning political figure with a humanist style, so he is careful to establish two-way cooperation with the United States and North Korea to avoid threats to security stability in the region. Meanwhile, Yoon Suk Yeol is better known as a leader who represents conservatives as his political principle. Yoon is showing more aggressiveness to increase military strength with the United States in the face of North Korea's possession of nuclear weapons. This study uses the theory of Ole R. Holsti to understand the foreign policy perceptions of each figure which leads to output as foreign policy. There are three components to form a perception scheme in foreign policy, namely information, belief system, and perception. This study found that there are party interests and paradigm values in the belief system that have a strong influence in shaping the perceptions of Moon Jae In and Yoon Suk Yeol. This analysis also shows the contrast between regime shifts which show that both of them have a closed image and there is resistance to the continuation of policies in the previous regime so that the alliance cooperation with the United States experiences dynamics

    This community service entitled Enhancement Knowledge of Sustainable Development with Pictorial Story at Elementary School was carried out to strengthen the knowledge capacity and attitude related to groundwater resources in Bronggang Baru, Cangkringan District, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The method of implementing community service was conducted by three steps, consist of 1) literature review and problem analysis, 2) interviews and analysis of partner needs, and 3) developing and delivering the media of pictorial story about sustainable development and its relation to groundwater. The result of the activity shows that 80% of the total 25 Siswa/i s who attended knew more about the insights of sustainable development, particularly regarding geographical conditions and water resources of local area

    The phenomenon of the rise of far-right populism and the strengthening of identity politics in some Europe countries has received considerable academic and practical attention in the last decade. The rise of far-right populists in the electoral political process and the increasing public support in Hungary and Poland marked a new chapter of political contestation in the region. This article aims to examine how economic and cultural factors influence the rise of far-right populism in those countries. This study employs a qualitative approach with literary analysis and web-based research to obtain complex interplay between political-economy, cultural, and populist-far-right identity politics.     The rise of China reflects the reality of international politics today. Even though its emergence has only been sequenced since at least the economic reforms in 1987, the commitment of the Chinese nation was able to bring it to its position as a dynamist and shaping the global political economy order. Economic leaps, technology, research, and even the military outperformed many European countries and is even said to have matched the United States. How the economic strategy and the implications of China's rise to global politics are the focus of the study in this paper. In order to answer this question, the author examines the approach of capitalism with Chinese characteristics and long cycle in world politics using qualitative methods that utilize interpretive analysis techniques and literature review. Based on the authors argue that China's economic revival cannot be separated from the international trade strategy and financial policies adopted by the country. Meanwhile, China's rise sparked a reaction from the guarantor of hegemonic stability, namely the United States. The dynamics of the relationship between the two major countries is still the center of debate in the study of the global political economy today.
