    Revisiting Friendship Networks

We extend the model of friendship networks developed by Brueck- ner (2006) in two ways. First, we extend the level of indirect benefits by incorporating benefits from up to three links and explore its impli- cation for the socially optimal and individual e¤ort levels. Next, we generalize the magnetic agent problem by allowing for more than 3 players by restricting ourselves to regular networks that include pay- o¤s from the magnetic agent.

A Novel Solution to the Dynamic Routing and Wavelength Assignment Problem in Transparent Optical Networks

We present an evolutionary programming algorithm for solving the dynamic routing and wavelength assignment (DRWA) problem in optical wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networks under wavelength continuity constraint. We assume an ideal physical channel and therefore neglect the blocking of connection requests due to the physical impairments. The problem formulation includes suitable constraints that enable the algorithm to balance the load among the individuals and thus results in a lower blocking probability and lower mean execution time than the existing bio-inspired algorithms available in the literature for the DRWA problems. Three types of wavelength assignment techniques, such as First fit, Random, and Round Robin wavelength assignment techniques have been investigated here. The ability to guarantee both low blocking probability without any wavelength converters and small delay makes the improved algorithm very attractive for current optical switching networks.Comment: 12 Pages, IJCNC Journal 201

This internship report is submitted in a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration,2014.Cataloged from PDF version of Internship report.Includes bibliographical references (page 26).The purpose of this paper is to study the customer awareness and attitude towards choosing the Islamic Banking. In developing countries Islamic banking has gained an immense popularity and importance which has also led a growth in Islamic financial sector. This paper has mainly tried to identify the actual factors which influences the customers to choose Islamic banking rather than convention banking system. Whether the customers prefer Islamic banking because of religious beliefs or economic factors. A descriptive study has been carried out after analyzing few factors like Demographic Characteristics and Consumer Attitudes, Service attributes Religious belief. This paper also indicates the opportunities and chances of Islamic banking to develop as a main stream banking system in the financial market. As our overall findings show that in developing countries there are greater opportunities for development and growth of Islamic financial system as the Muslim community is willing to take financial products and spend their lives according to Shariah. However Islamic Banking institutes still need to work hard for their endurance with conventional banking system. Also a qualitative research has been conducted to observe and analyze the overall knowledge or awareness level of customers regarding Islamic banking system in Bangladesh. So ten in-depth interviews have been undertaken on issues related Islamic banking system. Then directed a thematic analysis depending on finding from the in-depth interviews and at end have come up with some recommendation and suggestions concerning Islamic banking. The overall research findings suggest that in Bangladesh Islamic banking system has a great potential to grow as the customers have an attraction towards Islamic banking because of religious sentiments. Moreover, the Islamic banking organizations need to concern more about their service qualities and customer satisfactionsSudipta RoyB. Business Administratio

Investigating Citation Linkage as a Sentence Similarity Measurement Task using Deep Learning

Research publications reflect advancements in the corresponding research domain. In these research publications, scientists often use citations to bolster the presented research findings and portray the improvements that come with these findings, at the same time, to make the contents more understandable to the audience by navigating the flow of information. In the science domain, a citation refers to the document from where this information originates but doesn\u27t specify the text span that is actually being cited. A more precise reference would indicate the text being referenced. This thesis develops a framework which can create a linkage between the citing sentences from the ongoing research article and the related cited sentences from the corresponding referenced documents. This citation linkage problem has been modeled as a semantic relatedness task where given a citing sentence the framework pairs this citing sentence with each sentence from the reference document and then tries to determine which sentence pair is semantically similar and which pair is not. Construction of the citation linkage framework involves corpus creation and utilizing deep-learning models for semantic similarity measurement
