CONTESTATION BEHIND TOLERANCE: BETWEEN COMPETITION AND TOLERANCE IN THE DISCOURSE OF MULTICULTURALISM IN SALATIGA
Tolerance must be close to pluralism and multiculturalism which is not a new thing in academic studies. Many studies and research generalize about respect and appreciation for the diversity of ethnicity, religion, language and other cultures. For Javanese people who tend to be homogeneous in ethnicity but not too many long conflicts arise. Truth, the proof, One of the results of research in Salatiga which is one of the student cities in Central Java received the title of the second most tolerant city in Indonesia in 2018. But behind the award, there was contestation in the fields of education and religion. This paper will look again at tolerance in the Salatiga community after the award was obtained. Besides that, it also discussed competition in academia at IAIN Salatiga and Satya Wacana Kristen University (UKSW). Both educational institutions are based on religion, in which multiculturalism. Both educational institutions are based on religion, which is multicultural so that it impacts on the contestation of institutional policies, facilities and theological expansion. The results of this study are obtained from social phenomena which are understood by the phenomenology paradigm from reality understood in consciousness. In addition, during activities in Salatiga, there were also some social realities about tolerance and competition in the field of education. Finally, tolerance that has gone well does not mean without contestation. Contestation in this case is one of the social and cultural dynamics. Even to achieve social integration, sometimes conflict with good management is needed. This means that contestation or conflict does not always lead to division, but rather one of the paths to integration
Reexamining Salatiga as a Tolerant City in Java: An Exposure of Lesser-Known Facts
Salatiga has been known as one of the most tolerant cities in Java and Indonesia. Such an achievement refers to the 2021 Tolerant City Index (Indeks Kota Toleran) report released by the SETARA Institute that provides a baseline or assessment of the city government's performance in managing harmony, tolerance, Indonesian national insight, and social inclusion. This article wants to reexamine whether Salatiga is truly a tolerant city and fully implements freedom of religion and belief. The study uses a qualitative approach to interpret interactions between various religious followers in Salatiga. It employs Bielefeldt's analysis and human rights perspectives to reveal the events that actually happened. This study found that the people of Salatiga claim to live in harmony and maintain religious freedom, even though conflicts still occur occasionally. Such conflicts, for example, are seen in disputes about the IAIN Salatigaâ choir team performing at the church and in several social conflicts between Muslims and Christians. Besides, the existence of several religion-based comÂmunities, such as Muslim cemeteries, Muslim housing, and Muslim campuses, also justifies the fact of social disharmony in Salatiga because they are not in accordance with the principle of freedom of religion
Between the Elite Power and Women Subordination: Formulation of "Dana Desa" in Java Village Context
Dana Desa is one of the new policies to realize development based on the needs of rural communities. In its implementation there is a role that is often overlooked, it is women. This paper discusses the process of formulating dana desa policies in Pengalusan Village. In addition, the main focus is on the role of women when formulating these policies. Applying gender approach this study found that the planning process for the formulation of dana desa policies is carried out with the musrenbangdes which is carried out before the APBDes decision is agreed. But from the planning through evaluation processes there is no specific discussion related to the ideas, interest, and the role of women in the development processes in the village. The elite as decision makers are men, and village development policies are more masculine, one of which is demonstrated through physical development. Women's ideas have not received enough attention
JAVANESE ISLAM AND GLOBALIZATION: A STUDY ON THE SUSTAINABILITY THE ABOGE ISLAM COMMUNITY IN INDONESIA
The indigenous religion of Java has a longer historical existence compared to the currently recognized state religions. Similarly, Javanese Islam has evolved through religious syncretism with Javanese culture. Javanese Islam has served as a means to reconcile the two opposing poles of this entity, as well as a way to attract followers. Aboge Islam in Purbalingga, Central Java is one form of Javanese Islam. The existence of Aboge Islam is facing increasing threats, particularly in the era of globalization. This article will provide an overview of the current reality, obstacles, and threats faced by the Aboge Islamic community, and discuss their future. This research is conducted using the qualitative ethnographic method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with members of the Aboge Muslim community, as well as observations and document studies. The findings revealed that the Aboge Muslim community has undertaken various adaptation processes as a survival strategy to maintain its existence amidst the challenges posed by globalization. This form of adaptation is the inheritance of community values by passing down their traditional values to the younger generation, which includes 'ngormati leluhur' (the practices of ancestor worship), "melu gawe" (a Javanese term for working together), and "Turki" (Tuturan Kaki, oral transmission of knowledge and advice from parents or elders). Through this process, they hope their community will survive in the future.

Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) for Indonesian Homograph Word Meaning Determination by LESK Algorithm Application
Indonesian has several words which are commonly known as ambiguous words, confusing the meaning of a sentence or a statement to be less understood or even not delivered. It is different to a human perception which has linguistic ability to determine the meaning of ambiguity or more than a word meaning. Word Sense Disambiguation is one of a topic from natural language processing (NLP) which deals with ambiguity handling. Word Sense Disambiguation is a linguistic computational process which aims to identify the proper meaning of words based on the context. This current study is designed as a system to handle the ambiguous words. It is conducted by looking up and defining the meaning of ambiguous words by using LESK algorithm. The test is performed towards the functionality from a system in which the result system test is in line with test data from KBBI. The result presents accuracy level of 78.6% for one of an ambiguous word and 62.5 % for two of ambiguous words in determining the meaning appropriately
