Many-body Lattice Wavefunctions From Conformal Blocks
We introduce a general framework to construct many-body lattice wavefunctions
starting from the conformal blocks (CBs) of rational conformal field theories
(RCFTs). We discuss the different ways of encoding the physical degrees of
freedom of the lattice system using both the internal symmetries of the theory
and the fusion channels of the CBs. We illustrate this construction both by
revisiting the known Haldane-Shastry model and by providing a novel
implementation for the Ising RCFT. In the latter case, we find a connection to
the Ising transverse field (ITF) spin chain via the Kramers-Wannier duality and
the Temperley-Lieb-Jones algebra. We also find evidence that the ground state
of the finite-size critical ITF Hamiltonian corresponds exactly to the
wavefunction obtained from CBs of spin fields

Based on Norberto Bobbio’s proposal in El problema de la guerra y las vías de la paz, this article presents an approach to the antithetical relationship between war and law—that is, one in which war is considered the antithesis of law—in the historical context of the civil war from 1859 to 1862 in the Grenadian Confederation. The proposed theoretical analysis, which refers to the state and modern vision of the civil war, is complemented with a historical component by tracing the meanings of the aforementioned antithetical relationship in the letters that President Mariano Ospina and General Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera exchanged about some events of the civil war.
Agent-Based Model for Studying Diabetes under the Influence of Relationships
Diabetes is a disease which affects levels of blood insulin and recently has turned into a public health threat. This disease presents a huge risk for the individual, as it can reduce life expectancy. Furthermore, many models of diabetes just focus on biological or eating habits, without taking into account social or cultural factors. In this work, an agent-based model is proposed for the diabetic population taking into account interpersonal relationships and body mass index. The model is implemented in NetLogo and validated by results under extreme conditions. Then, it is simulated to test the influence that marriage has on the diabetic population. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is mad
Polytopes are combinatorial objects in several branches of mathematics. In this work we study the structure of transportation polytopes underling in the ring of multisymmetric functions, in particular, we study the product rule of that functions. The main results have been obtained when we study a set of matrices in that rule thinking them as transportation polytopes. The first result says that those matrices can be written as disjoint union of elements of classic 2-way transportation polytopes, the second result gives us an upper bound for that set of matrices with fix margins and variable size and the last result show that each element of the decomposition appearing in the first result can be obtained as the solutions of a system of linear equations. Finally, we provide several applications of those objects and we propose open problems to work in the future.Matemático (a)Pregrad
Improving customer waiting time for medicine-retrieval center
Neuromedica is a Colombian pharmacy which provides treatment for people with neurological diseases. Recently, Neuromedica started attending patients from other pharmacy which led to a significant increase in the waiting time. In this pharmacy, people are classified and attended due to certain priorities. The data,
given by Neuromedica, is analyzed using boxplots, Kruskal-Wallis and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests with Python’s library Scipy. The objective of this work is to determine the number of assistants and queue logistic such that the waiting time has a significant reduction, with the purpose to provide a satisfactory level of service. A discrete-event simulation model was created and implemented in Python. A heuristic approach to minimize the waiting time is used. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis is made on the assumed distributions
Automatic authorship analysis using Deep neural networks
Authorship analysis helps to study the characteristics that distinguish how two different persons write. Writing style can be extracted in several ways, like using bag of words strategies or handcrafted features. However, with the growing of Internet, we have been able to witness an increase in the amount of user generated data in social networks like Facebook or Twitter. There is an increasing need in generating automatic methods capable of analyzing the style of a document for tasks like: determining the age of the author, determining the gender of the author, determining the authorship of the document given a set of possible authors, etc. Previous tasks are better known as author profiling and authorship attribution. Although capturing the style of an author can be a challenging task, in this thesis we explore representation learning strategies, in order to take advantage of the large amount of data generated by social media. In this thesis, we learned proper representations for the text inputs that were able to learn such patterns that are only distinguishable to an author (authorship attribution) or a social group of authors (author profiling). Proposed methods were compared using different publicly available datasets using social media data. Both author profiling and authorship attribution tasks are addressed using representation learning techniques such as convolutional neural networks and gated multimodal units. Our unimodal author profiling approach was submitted to the profiling shared task of the laboratory on digital forensics and stylometry(PAN). For authorship attribution, we proposed a convolutional neural network using character n-grams as input. We found that our approach outperformed standard attribution based methods as well as word based convolutional neural networks. For the author profiling task, we proposed one convolutional neural network for unimodal author profiling and adapted a gated multimodal unit for multimodal author profiling. The multimodal nature of user generated content consists of a scenario where the social group of an author can be determined not only using his/her written texts but using also the images that the user shared across the social networks. Gated multimodal units outperformed standard information fusion strategies: early and late fusion.Maestrí
