TEACHING METHOD AND VOCABULARY MASTERY INFLUENCE TOWARD STUDENT’S SPEAKING SKILL
The aim of this research is to know if there are effects of teaching method and vocabulary mastery on student’s speaking skill at private senior high schools in Teluk Betung, Bandar Lampung. The sample of this research is 60 students. This research is experimental research with two factors, teaching method using Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Conventional Method and Vocabulary Mastery. The data about vocabulary mastery and speaking skills are taken through tests which their validity and reliability have been tested. The researcher used SPSS Program 20 to analyze the data. The results are: experimental class (A1) has to mean score 68, it is more than a control class (A2) that has to mean score 59,97. Testing of three hypotheses used ANOVA (analysis on variants), it has got a sig. score 0,000 in communicative language teaching and vocabulary mastery got sig 0,002. It means the first hypothesis, there is a significant effect of CLT on students’ speaking skill is accepted. The second hypothesis, there is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery on students’ speaking skill is also accepted. While the third hypothesis, there are the effects of teaching method using CLT and vocabulary mastery on students’ speaking skill is rejected.Â
DEVELOPING ANIMATION VIDEOS AS LEARNING MEDIA FOR STUDENTS SPEAKING ABILITY IN DESCRIPTION TEXT ON JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 2 METRO
Animation has many benefits such as clearer and attractivelearning, the learning process is more efficient, effective because students canrepeat it as needed, can improve the quality of learning outcomes, and can overcomethe limitations of space and time between teachers and student.This study of learningmedia in the form of animated videos will be very helpful for teachers and students asan attractive learning media and make it easier for students to learn and understandEnglish subjects, especially in speaking skill on descriptive text material. The type ofthis research are research and development (R&D). The models of this research areADDIE model. There are five steps in ADDIE model; analysis, design, development,implementation, and evaluation. Assessment on video animation by media expertsand material experts gets a percentage 79% and 82%. Students and teachers gave apositive assessment that is 82% and 96%, each assessment was in the very goodcategory
LEARNING STYLE IN LEARNING PRONUNCIATION OF EFL LEARNER
The people usually ignore pronunciation when speaking, telling something, discussing, singing, etc. The focus of this research is to explore the learning style of an EFL learner named Kharis Fikril Muhorobin in practicing pronunciation. The design of this research is a case study in the form of qualitative research design. The objective of this research is finding the learning style of an EFL learner. This research was conducted on campus and in the informant's boarding house. The data were collected by using triangulation involving observation, interview, and documentation. The analysis of the data was conducted using descriptive analysis. The result shows that the informant focused on British pronunciation. Based on the result of data analysis, it is found that there are three strategies applied by an informant in practicing British pronunciation. Those strategies are listening and practicing English songs, watching, and listening to English movies,  and reading out loud English book
ENHANCING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY BY USING FRONTLOADING STRATEGY IN THE GOOGLE CLASSROOM APPLICATION AT THE TENTH GRADE NATURAL SCIENCE 1 OF SMA NEGERI 4 METRO
The goal is to identify the problems of students in tenth grade natural science 1 to improve the quality of learning, especially for vocabulary. The teacher provides students with a worksheet contain words such as synnonim, antonym and part of speech of the words. This research is Classroom Action Research. Those were reconnaissance, planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 33 students at tenth grade natural science 1 of SMA Negeri 4 Metro. The criteria of succes determines by researcher successful if 75% of 33 students follow the learning process well and also give good responses to the teacher and if the 75% from 33 students get score 70. The research was done in two cycles and obtained the qualitative and quantitative data. The data collection instruments were observation checklists, interview guidelines, and tests. The data were in the observation checklists, interview transcripts, and scores.The result of the research showed that the use of frontloading strategy in the teaching and learning process significantly improved the students’ vocabulary mastery. the students could improve their vocabulary mastery by looking for vocabulary related to the picture given and also the picture was described then the students entered it as the KWL format which is one of the frontloading srategies. Based on the quantitative data, the students’ mean value for the vocabulary skills improved. In the pre – test, the students’ mean value was 61.96 Then, after Cycle 1 (post – test 1), the students’ mean value of post
– test 1 was 68.33 . At last, after Cycle 2 (post – test 2), the students’ mean value in the post – test 2 was 86.21 . In conclusion, the use of frontloading strategy can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery significantly
ANALYSIS OF MAIN CHARACTERS IN BEAUTY AND THE BEAST MOVIE BY JOHN ALVIN
The research discusses about main characters in “Beauty and The Beast” Movie. Maincharacters is the figure whose story is prioritized in a literary work in question. Because thatis the most widely told character, both as the perpetrators of events and those subject toevents. The objectives of this research are to know kind of characters in beauty and the beastmovie and to explain how are the main characters described. Character in movie is the objectof this research. The main character is the subject of this research. The method of thisresearch is Descriptive Qualitative research. The result of this study are found 6 kind of characters, 2 main characters and 10characters. Kind of characters consist of protagonist, antagonist, dynamic, round, static andflat were 13 data, main characters consist of Belle and the beast and characters consist ofhumble, friendly, curious, helpful, loving, brave, struggle, angry, arrogant and feel guilty were10 data. Based on the data it can be concluded that in beauty and the beast movie only found6 kind of character and 10 characters except main characters only 2 are analyzed
SPEECH ACT FOUND IN RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON MOVIE
This study aimed to find types and the most dominant speech act of illocutionary acts found in Raya and the Last Dragon movie. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative method. Primary and secondary data were collected to find the answers of the problem. As in the primary data, the researcher used the movie and the movie script and in the secondary data, the researcher used a related literature or research papers to support the study. The data were analyzed in four phases; data management, data reduction, data display, and verification.
The findings revealed that the movie utilized all of the illocutionary acts as many as, 92 utterances comprises 4 are declarative, 13 are representative, 27 are expressive, 32 are directive, and 15 are commissive. The result also revealed that directive speech act to be the most dominant utterance spoken by the characters in the movie and declarative speech act to be the least utterance spoken
TECHNIQUE OF TRANSLATION IN “SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS” FILM
Translation is the communication of meaning from one language (source language) to other language (target language). It is a process of transferring the ideas, meaning or message obtained from source language into target language. This research was aimed to find out the translation techniques used by the translator in translating subtitle of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings movie. It was aimed to find out the most dominant type of translation technique used in the subtitle. This research method is qualitative research. The theory used to analyze the translation technique is Molina and Albir (2002). The results of this study the total of all translation techniques is 288 consisted of Borrowing 0.34%, Calque 2.43%, Discursive creation 3.81%, Established equivalent 5.20%, Linguistic amplification 6.59%, Linguistic compression 14.23%, Literal translation 49.30%, Modulation 5.90%, Reduction 6.94%, and Transposition 5.20%. From these results, it can be concluded that the most dominant translation technique used by the translator was a literal translation

The countres all over the worlds loosen and tighten its boreder as the pandemics evolve into certainty when the vaccinations held. Indees, the catastrophic of the pandemics didn't just leave us behind, many of us losing out loved one and in grief. Yet we are still hopeful of the future especialyy when Science nurtured our thinking while God is with all of us at heart
The questions on the critical period
Many people believe that the success of second language acquisition is influenced by critical period. A learner is said to successfully acquire the second language when s/he is in a certain age in which the critical period is not passed yet. Most of researchers in second language acquisition agree that once the critical period passes, a learner cannot acquire the second language successfully anymore. Is it true that critical period is the only factor which influence the success or the failure of the second language acquisition? Is true that adult learners whose critical period has passed cannot acquire second language successfully? This article presents the current opinions on the existence of critical period and its impact toward the achievement of non-native speakers in acquiring second/foreign language. Besides, it also presents information about other factors which influence second language acquisition. The scope of this article is on the discussion of the trade-off of the existence of critical period among psycholinguists and its influence to the success of second language acquisition especially on the contradiction of young and adult learners
