Flavor Physics at LHC will contribute significantly to the search for New Physics via precise and complementary measurements of CKM angles and the study of loop decays. Here we present the expected experimental sensitivity and physics performance of the LHC experiments that will to B-physics

The Site Groß Fredenwalde, NE-Germany, and the Early Cemeteries of Northern Europe

    Get PDF
The Mesolithic burial site Groß Fredenwalde, NE-Germany, discovered in 1962, had remained a poorly understood part of the Mesolithic burial record for decades. Since 2012, the site has been under re-investigation. New discoveries confirm the presence of several single and multiple inhumation graves. Groß Fredenwalde stands out as the largest and one of the oldest Mesolithic cemeteries in North-central Europe. Its use period can be separated into two phases: a main phase in the late seventh millennium cal BC to the early sixth millennium cal BC and a later single burial c. 4900 cal BC. Here the state of research on the site is presented and selected characteristics are discussed in the context of early cemeteries of Northern and North-eastern Europe

Study of the Weak Charged Hadronic Current in b Decays

    Get PDF
Charged and neutral particle multiplicities of jets associated with identified semileptonic and hadronic b decays are studied. The observed differences between these jets are used to determine the inclusive properties of the weak charged hadronic current. The average charged particle multiplicity of the weak charged hadronic current in b decays is measured for the first time to be 2.69±\pm0.07(stat.)±\pm0.14(syst.). This result is in good agreement with the JETSET hadronization model of the weak charged hadronic current if 40±\pm17\% of the produced mesons are light--flavored tensor (L=1) mesons. This level of tensor meson production is consistent with the measurement of the π0\pi^0 multiplicity in the weak charged hadronic current in b decays. \end{abstract

Measurement of the forward Z boson production cross-section in pp collisions at s=13\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV

    Get PDF
A measurement of the production cross-section of Z bosons in pp collisions at s=13\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV is presented using dimuon and dielectron final states in LHCb data. The cross-section is measured for leptons with pseudorapidities in the range 2.0η4.52.0 \eta 4.5, transverse momenta pT20p_\text{T} 20 GeV and dilepton invariant mass in the range 60m()12060 m(\ell\ell) 120 GeV. The integrated cross-section from averaging the two final states is \begin{equation*}\sigma_{\text{Z}}^{\ell\ell} = 194.3 \pm 0.9 \pm 3.3 \pm 7.6\text{ pb,}\end{equation*} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is due to systematic effects, and the third is due to the luminosity determination. In addition, differential cross-sections are measured as functions of the Z boson rapidity, transverse momentum and the angular variable ϕη\phi^*_\eta

    Single and multi-photon events with missing energy in e+ee^+ e^- collisions at 161 GeV < s\sqrt{s} < 172 GeV

    Get PDF
A search for single and multi-photon events with missing energy is performed using data collected at centre-of-mass energies between 161 GeV and 172 GeV for a total of 20.9 pb1^{-1} of integrated luminosity. The results obtained are used to derive the value for the ννˉγ(γ)\nu\bar{\nu}\gamma(\gamma) cross section as well as upper limits on new physics processes

Local multiplicity fluctuations in hadronic Z decay

    Get PDF
Local multiplicity fluctuations in hadronic Z decays are studied using the L3 detector at LEP. Bunching parameters are used for the first time in addition to the normalised factorial moment method. The bunching parameters directly demonstrate that the fluctuations in rapidity are multifractal. Monte Carlo models show overall agreement with the data, reproducing the trend, although not always the magnitude, of the factorial moments and bunching parameters

Search for charged Higgs bosons in e+ee^+ e^- collisions at centre-of-mass energies between 130 and 183 GeV

    Get PDF
    A search for pair-produced charged Higgs bosons is performed with the L3 detector at LEP using data collected at centre-of-mass energies from \mbox{130 to 183 \GeV{}}, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 88.3 \pb. The Higgs decays into a charm and a strange quark or into a tau lepton and its associated neutrino are considered. The observed candidates are consistent with the expectations from Standard Model background processes. A lower limit of 57.5 \GeV{} on the charged Higgs mass is derived at 95\% CL, independent of the decay branching ratio \mathrm{Br(H^\pm\ra \tau\nu)}

Measurement of η(958)\eta '(958) formation in two-photon collisions at LEP1

    Get PDF
The formation of the eta' in the reaction ee->ee eta'->ee pi pi gamma has been measured by the L3 detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 91 GeV. The radiative width of the eta' has been found to be 4.17 +/- 0.10(stat.) +/- 0.27(sys.) keV . The Q^2 dependence of the eta' formation cross section has been measured for Q^2 < 10 GeV^2 and the eta' electromagnetic transition form factor has been determined. The form factor can be parametrised by a pole form with Lambda = 0.900 +/- 0.046(stat) +/- 0.022(sys) GeV. It is also consistent with recent non-perturbative QCD calculations
