External fluctuations in front dynamics with inertia: The overdamped limit
We study the dynamics of fronts when both inertial effects and external
fluctuations are taken into account. Stochastic fluctuations are introduced as
multiplicative noise arising from a control parameter of the system. Contrary
to the non-inertial (overdamped) case, we find that important features of the
system, such as the velocity selection picture, are not modified by the noise.
We then compute the overdamped limit of the underdamped dynamics in a more
careful way, finding that it does not exhibit any effect of noise either. Our
result poses the question as to whether or not external noise sources can be

A scheme for symmetrization verification
We propose a scheme for symmetrization verification in two-particle systems,
based on one-particle detection and state determination. In contrast to
previous proposals, it does not follow a Hong-Ou-Mandel-type approach.
Moreover, the technique can be used to generate superposition states of single
particles
White noise flashing Brownian pump
A Brownian pump of particles powered by a stochastic flashing ratchet
mechanism is studied. The pumping device is embedded in a finite region and
bounded by particle reservoirs. In the steady state, we exactly calculate the
spatial density profile, the concentration ratio between both reservoirs and
the particle flux. A simple numerical scheme is presented allowing for the
consistent evaluation of all such observable quantities
Coexistence of Quantum Theory and Special Relativity in signaling scenarios
The coexistence between Quantum Mechanics and Special Relativity is usually
formulated in terms of the no-signaling condition. Several authors have even
suggested that this condition should be included between the basic postulates
of Quantum Theory. However, there are several scenarios where signaling is, in
principle, possible: based on previous results and the analysis of the relation
between unitarity and signaling we present an example of a two-particle
interferometric arrangement for which the dynamics is, in principle, compatible
with superluminal transmission of information. This type of non-locality is not
in the line of Bell's theorem, but closer in spirit to the one-particle
acausality studied by Hegerfeldt and others. We analyze in this paper the
meaning of this non-locality and how to preserve the coexistence of the two

The Role of Supply Constraints in Multiplier Analysis
Multiplier analysis based upon the information contained in Leontief's inverse is undoubtedly part of the core of the input-output methodology and numerous applications an extensions have been developed that exploit its informational content. Nonetheless there are some implicit theoretical assumptions whose implications have perhaps not been fully assessed. This is the case of the 'excess capacity' assumption. Because of this assumption resources are available as needed to adjust production to new equilibrium states. In real world applications, however, new resources are scarce and costly. Supply constraints kick in and hence resource allocation needs to take them into account to really assess the effect of government policies. Using a closed general equilibrium model that incorporates supply constraints, we perform some simple numerical exercises and proceed to derive a 'constrained' multiplier matrix that can be compared with the standard 'unrestricted' multiplier matrix. Results show that the effectiveness of expenditure policies hinges critically on whether or not supply constraints are considered.Key sectors, Economic linkages, Policy evaluation, Economy-wide modeling, General equilibrium.
