Purananooru explains how mixed food systems are in the life of ancient Tamils, hospitality methods, dealing with guests, vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets, uses of food grains, and Tolkappiyar's evidence of feasting. This article deals with iguana meat, wild fowl- aral fish and mutton as non-vegetarian food. The use of Varaku rice as a staple food as a small grain food is explained

A novel algorithm of MGWO-based PI controller for a single-stage grid-connected flyback inverter with ZVS

    Get PDF
An effective approach on zero-voltage switching scheme for a single-stage grid-connected flyback inverter along with the introduction of Modified Grey Wolf Optimizer technique based on the proportional integral controller is proposed. A focus on soft-switching is attained by means of permitting the grid-side negative current along the bidirectional switches held in the transformer’s secondary side. Consequently, there is a discharge of metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor’s output capacitor. This function led the primary switch to turn ON at the condition of zero voltage. Therefore, it is essential to optimize the reactive current level for attaining zero-voltage switching. Generally, the basic Grey Wolf Optimization has some more disadvantages of accuracy-solving and less capability of finding the fitness solutions. Hence, to overcome this, optimizer can be modified for further enhancement in the optimization process. Modified Grey Wolf Optimizer based on the proportional integral controller with pulse width modulation technique is used for controlling the switches; thereby zero-voltage switching triggering takes place which results in decreased total harmonic distortion. Finally, the simulations can be carried out based on the total harmonic distortion which helps to illustrate the effectiveness of the suggested algorithm. A 24-V, 325-W prototype has been carried out to verify the proposed system

Eff ect of triazole compounds on induced changes in growth biomass and biochemical content of white radish (Raphanus sativus L.)

    Get PDF
Radish (Raphanus sativus L.), belongs to the family Brassicaceae is an important vegetable crop and cultivated all over the India. The tuber of radish is used to prepare the salad and for the preparation of various health dishes. It is rich in vitamin ‘C’ and minerals. It is also used as medicinal properties such as currying liver disorders, jaundice, and various physiological disorders. In the present investigation, the effect of triazole compounds such as triadimefon (TDM) and hexaconazole (HEX) on radish. The plants were given separate treatment with 1 L of water solution containing 20/mg TDM and 1 L of water solution containing 20/mg HEX on 23, 35, and 53 days after sowing (DAS) by soil drenching method. The plants were harvested randomly on 30, 45, and 60 DAS for the determination of growth of tuber, shoot, and biochemical contents viz., starch, protein, and amino acid both in the control and triazole treated plants. From the results it is observed that the triazole treated plants showed pronounced effect in increasing the tuber fresh and dry biomass, protein, amino acid, and starch content in both shoot and tuber tissues of radish, whereas the shoot fresh and dry biomass were decreased when compared to control plants of radish

Ultra Structural and Analytical Studies of Biodiesel Producing Microalgae (Chlorella vulgaris and Senedesmis sp.) Collected from Tamil Nadu, India

Microalgae are an economical choice for biofuel production, because of its availability and low cost. Our studies prove that biodiesel can be produced from Freshwater (Temple tanks, Forest lagoons, Inland lakes, Rock ponds) microalgae (Chlorella vulgaris, Senedesmis sp). The Nile Red fluorescence method described in our present study provides a rapid, easily manipulated and reliable method for in vivo quantification of neutral lipids in various microalgal taxa, particularly those belonging to the Chlorophyceae, that were previously found difficult to stain with Nile Red method. The optimum drying period of microalgae biomass is determined to be 120 min. The percentage of lipid content during n-Hexane soaking period (Chlorella vulgaris) is 49% during 210min. Extraction of lipid fragments through solvent extraction method from biomass and the fractions were analysed for biodiesel under FT-IR and GC-MS

Economic development in post-war Sri Lanka - management challenges and rewarding tasks

Sri Lankan economy would be improved to a great extent with the restoration of peace in the island and the rapid improvement in the tourism industry predicted by ADB lead economist Narhari Rao the Colombo stock market is also performing well, he said. The notable reduction in inflation from 20% to 2% followed by the Central Bank's decision to bring down interest rates, will contribute immensely towards economic development which is the right move. In the 70s, Sri Lanka was more developed than Malaysia and Singapore. Sri Lanka Should concentrate Education, Research development, Export manufactured goods, Health, Transports, Planned and implementation, Agriculture, foreign investment, Small medium scale industries, alternate energy, Construction and security. Singapore is an inspiration to Sri Lanka and other developing countries in terms of economic development, political stability, and good governance. In terms of fiscal and monetary policy, government expenditure to GDP ratio is about 10% with a budget surplus. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka's equivalent is the Monetary Authority of Singapore which is considered among the 10 most sophisticated financial markets. The money supply is endogenous (from within) and exchange rate policy curtails imported inflation. Singapore also has political stability and quality of governance is needed for the economy to grow. Singapore is managing a plural society, rule of law to maintain good governance. As a country with new born peace, Sri Lanka has key lessons to learn from Singapore. Sri Lanka is getting ready for the post war era in earnest. As the expenditure on the war begins to decline, the need to divert attention to development of the north and east ensues. Physically, politically and psychically rebuilding a country after nearly two generations of war is no easy feat Doing it in the middle of a global recession won't be swift or predictable. It will involve that noisily rabble called civil society
