La tasa de neumólogos por 100.000 habitantes para toda Cataluña es de 3,15.El grado de implantación de la neumología en la XHUP ha mejorado significativamente en el decenio 1993-2003.AbstractThe aim of this study was to perform a descriptive analysis of the state of public pneumology in Catalonia (Spain) in 2003 and to compare the results with data from 1993.A questionnaire was sent to all hospitals of the public hospitals network in Catalonia requesting information on the number of pulmonologists. To determine the number of pulmonologists working in primary care, we also contacted all the primary care services (PCS) in Catalonia. All the hospitals and PCS contacted responded. Eighty-three percent of the public network hospitals had a pneumology service. From 1993-2003, the proportion of hospitals with this specialty increased. The rate of pulmonologists per 100,000 persons for the whole of Catalonia was 3.15.The degree of implantation of pneumology in the public hospitals network of Catalonia significantly improved in the decade between 1993 and 2003
Experiments and phenomenology of electric dipole moments
The Standard Model (SM) is the best description of fundamental particles and their interactions we have to date. From this theory, all phenomena in the macroscopic world (except for gravity) can be explained, and it has successfully predicted all outcomes of particle experiments on Earth. However, cosmological observations of the early Universe yield a large imbalance between its content of matter and antimatter, which is several orders of magnitude above the SM prediction. To explain these observations, new interactions that do not respect the charge-parity symmetry must exist beyond the SM. Such interactions would induce electric dipole moments (EDMs) in known particles. In Part I of the thesis, we propose to extend the active experimental program of EDM searches to charm and bottom baryons, tau leptons, and lambda hyperons; also allowing the measurement of their corresponding magnetic dipole moments (MDMs). The EDM and MDM of short-lived particles can be accessed with a bent-crystal experiment to be installed in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), while longer-lived lambda particles can be measured at the LHCb experiment with no additional instrumentation. In Part II, an analysis of LHCb data to measure the lambda polarization in lambda c+ to lambda pi+ pi+ pi- decays, essential ingredient for the proposed measurement, is presented. In the last part of the thesis, we derive new indirect bounds on heavy quark EDMs with already available data and explore the phenomenological implications of these and other EDM limits on New Physics models, with special emphasis on extensions of the SM with colour-octet scalars.
Tuberculosis treatment adherence and fatality in Spain
Background: The adherence to long tuberculosis (TB) treatment is a key factor in TB control programs. Always some patients abandon the treatment or die. The objective of this study is to identify factors associated with defaulting from or dying during antituberculosis treatment.
Methods: Prospective study of a large cohort of TB cases diagnosed during 2006-2007 by 61 members of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR). Predictive factors of completion outcome (cured plus completed treatment vs. defaulters plus lost to follow-up) and fatality (died vs. the rest of patients) were based on logistic regression, calculating odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI).
Results: Of the 1490 patients included, 29.7% were foreign-born. The treatment outcomes were: cured 792 (53.2%), completed treatment 540 (36.2%), failure 2 (0.1%), transfer-out 33 (2.2%), default 27 (1.8%), death 27 (1.8%), lost to follow-up 65 (4.4%), other 4 (0.3%). Completion outcome reached 93.5% and poor adherence was associated with: being an immigrant (OR = 2.03; CI:1.06-3.88), living alone (OR = 2.35; CI:1.05-5.26), residents of confined institutions (OR =
4.79; CI:1.74-13.14), previous treatment (OR = 2.93; CI:1.44-5.98), being an injecting drug user (IDU) (OR = 9.51;CI:2.70-33.47) and treatment comprehension difficulties (OR = 2.93; CI:1.44-5.98). Case fatality was 1.8% and it was associated with the following variables: age 50 or over (OR = 10.88; CI:1.12-105.01), retired (OR = 12.26;CI:1.74-86.04), HIV-infected (OR = 9.93; CI:1.48-66.34), comprehension difficulties (OR = 4.07; CI:1.24-13.29), IDU (OR = 23.59;
CI:2.46-225.99) and Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) OR =.54;CI:1.07-11.77).
Conclusion: Immigrants, those living alone, residents of confined institutions, patients treated previously, those with treatment comprehension difficulties, and IDU patients have poor adherence and should be targeted for DOT. To reduce fatality rates, stricter monitoring is required for patients who are retired, HIV-infected, IDU, and those with treatment comprehension difficulties
The anomalous chiral Lagrangian at order
We derive the order Lagrangian of odd intrinsic parity for mesonic
chiral perturbation theory, and provide the resulting operator basis in the
supplementary material. Neglecting the non-zero singlet trace, we find
operators for a general number of quark flavours , for and
for . Our numbers agree with those obtained through the Hilbert
series approach in the literature. Including a singlet trace, as needed for the
physical case of , instead yields operators for a general ,

The anomalous Lagrangian in ChPT at NNLO
The anomalous Lagrangian in mesonic Chiral Perturbation Theory, of odd
intrinsic parity, is determined to next-to-next-to-leading order thereby
completing the order Lagrangian. A schematic view of its construction
with the MINIBAR package for Mathematica is presented and the final operator
count is discussed for a general number of light quark flavours as well as for
the physical cases . The number of operators in our explicit
construction of the Lagrangian basis is consistent with the number derived
using the Hilbert series in the literature.Comment: 6 pages. Contribution to EPS-HEP2023 (21-25 August, 2023, Hamburg,

used for centuries by ecclesiastical and secular institutions
to register marriages. The information contained in these
historical documents is useful for demography studies and
genealogical research, among others. Despite the generally
simple structure of the text in these documents, automatic transcription
and semantic information extraction is difficult due
to the distinct and evolutionary vocabulary, which is composed
mainly of proper names that change along the time. In previous
works we studied the use of category-based language models to
both improve the automatic transcription accuracy and make
easier the extraction of semantic information. Here we analyze
the main causes of the semantic errors observed in previous
results and apply a Grammatical Inference technique known
as MGGI to improve the semantic accuracy of the language
model obtained. Using this language model, full handwritten
text recognition experiments have been carried out, with results
supporting the interest of the proposed approach. This work has been partially supported through the European Union’s H2020 grant READ (Ref: 674943), the European project ERC-2010-AdG-20100407-269796, the MINECO/FEDER, UE projects TIN2015-70924-C2-1-R and TIN2015-70924-C2-2-R, and the Ramon y Cajal Fellowship RYC-2014-16831.Romero Gómez, V.; Fornes, A.; Vidal Ruiz, E.; Sánchez Peiró, JA.
