    Meningkatkan Kualitas Hasil Belajar IPA Melalui Alternatif Model Pembelajaran

    The purpose of this research is to know the influence of certain teaching method in increasing the quality of the students\u27 achievement of open SLTP viewed from the kind of tests. Besides, it is directed to get the most effective teaching method which can be applied as the positive alternative in increasing the quality of the SLTP student\u27 achievement. The kind of research used is an experimental comparative research using two ways Anava. Here statistical formulas were three levels comparative from one variable namely teaching method with module; teaching method with videocassette (electronic media); and teaching method with problem solving approach, and their influence to the tied variable based on other factor whether the test is objective or essay. The result of the research shows that teaching method with electronic media is the most appropriate to increase the quality of studying biology; the second was teaching by module completed with creative problems solving, and the last was teaching method with module. Besides, it revealed that subjective test model is better than objective test. There was no interaction between certain teaching methods with the kind of the test

    The aims of this research were to know the relationship among biologicol learning dfficulties with affective competence ond cognitive compelence and each contribution to that dfficulties toward student of SMUN 8 Surikarta. This research was carried out during academic year of 2004/2005. This was the descriptive quantitative research with ex post faclo. The threated student was sampled in amount of 40 students by simplerandom sampling. The data obtained was\u27then analized by multivariate-linear regression analysisThe results showed that there was significant dffirence between biological learning dfficulties with cognitive comrytence and afective comrylence. The dominant contributor to the difficulties was the affective competence (52, 29%o). This reasearch alsofound that lhere was correlation between those two competence

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah Meningkatkan keaktifan diskusi siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi melalui penerapan prinsip Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction ARCS di kelas RSBI sebagai sebuah bentuk inovasi pembelajaran.Penelitian merupakan Classroom Action Research dilakukan di dua lokasi dengan dua inovasi pembelajran berbeda tetapi masing-masing menerapkan prinsip ARCS dalam komponen-komponennya. Kedua lokasi yaitu 1)kelas RSBI SMA Negeri 1 Surakarata melalui penerapan prinsip ARCS dalam pembelajaran aktif tipe cardsort dan 2)kelas RSBI SMA MTA Surakarta dengan penerapan ARCS disertai LKS. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Data berupa hasil observasi, wawancara, angket keaktifan diskusi siswa dan angket performance guru. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik triangulasi.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan prinsip ARCS di kelas RSBI dpat meningkatkan keaktifan diskusi siswa. Besar peningkatan rata-rata 3.19% dari siklus I 73.12% ke siklus II 76.41%

    This research was carried out upon the X grade student of SMA Negeri 2 Sragen. This research wereaimed to find the correlation between psychic vitality and cognitive, correlation between psychological competence and psychomotor competence with cognitive competence on biological learning and the dominant contribution for each independent variable to cognitive competence on biological learning. This is a descriptive-quantitative research with ex post facto. The population of the study is the X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Sragen in academic year of 2004/2005. The sampling technique used is Simple Random Sampling. Sample was taken on 40 students within 8 classes. The data was then analyzed by using MultipleLinear Regretions.The result of research showed that there is positive correlation between psychological vitality and cognitive competence on biological learning of the X grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Sragen (r,ty = 0.424 with Fstatistic = 8\u27325 ) Ftabte (1,38; 0.0, = 4.10). Positive correlation was obtqin betyveen psychomotor competence and cognitive competence onbiological learning(r,zy=0.346withF,so,;,,ir=5.163 )Ftabte(1,38;0.0s)=4.10.     Peer education, gender and the development of critical consciousness : participatory HIV prevention by South African youth

    Despite the growing popularity of participatory peer education as an HIV-prevention strategy worldwide, our understandings of the processes underlying its impact on sexual norms are still in their infancy. Starting from the assumption that gender inequalities play a key role in driving the epidemic amongst young people, we outline a framework for conceptualising the processes underlying successful peer education. We draw on the inter-locking concepts of social identity, empowerment (with particular emphasis on Freire's account of critical consciousness) and social capital. Thereafter we provide a critical case study of a schools-based peer education program in a South African township school, drawing on a longitudinal case study of the program, and interviews and focus groups with young people in the township. Our research highlights a number of features of the program itself, as well as the broader context within which it was implemented, which are likely to undermine the development of the critical thinking and empowerment which we argue are key preconditions for program success. In relation to the program itself, these include peer educators' preference for didactic methods and biomedical frameworks, unequal gender dynamics amongst the peer educators, the highly regulated and teacher-driven nature of the school environment and negative learner attitudes to the program. In relation to the broader context of the program, we point to factors such as: limited opportunities for communication about sex outside of the peer educational setting, poor adult role models of sexual relationships, poverty and unemployment, low levels of social capital and poor community facilities. We discuss the implications of our findings for the design of peer educational activities, as well pointing to a number of broader social and community development initiatives that would maximize the likelihood of program success
