Every diabetes mellitus patient needs to receive minimal information that is given after the diagnosis is made, including basic knowledge about diabetes mellitus, self-monitoring, causes of high blood glucose levels, oral hypoglycemia drugs, meal planning, foot care, physical activity, arrangements when sick, and complications. In its implementation, the delivery of this information needs to be done in stages. It should be avoided too little or too much information in a short time. In conveying information, the factor that needs to be considered is the condition of the patient with diabetes mellitus, both physical condition in this case the severity of the disease and psychological condition. The goal of health education for diabetes mellitus patients is to increase their knowledge because knowledge is the starting point for changing their attitude and lifestyle. In the end, the goal of education is to change the behavior of diabetes mellitus patients and increase adherence which in turn improves quality of life, so that good cooperation is needed between health workers and diabetes mellitus patients and their families so that diabetes treatment can be successful (Basuki, 2005)

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Foot exercise is an activity or exercise performed by patients with diabetes mellitus to prevent injuries and help improve blood circulation in the legs. Foot exercises can help improve blood circulation and strengthen the small muscles of the feet and prevent foot deformities. Besides that, it can increase the strength of the calf muscles, thigh muscles and overcome the limitations of joint movement. A diabetic sufferer will be at risk of experiencing a foot injury by 15-20 % with a recurrence rate of 50-70 % within 5 years, where 85 % of patients who experience a foot injury will undergo an amputation. So far, diabetes mellitus patients rarely do foot exercises, because the family is busy at work, they are not used to doing sports or perhaps the facilities are inadequate. A person with diabetes mellitus must always pay attetion to and maintain foot hygiene, train them well even though complications have not occurred. If it is not treated or therapy such as foot exercises is carried out, it is feared that one day the patient’s feet will experience circulatory disorders and nerve damage which causes reduced sensitivity to pain, so that the patients is easily injured without him knowing it. Blood glucose levels are always high and pain is almost not felt, so a small wound that does not get attention will quickly become a big wound

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition in which kidney function gradually declines or is even lost completely. This decline in kidney function can lead to fluid and metabolic waste accumulation in the body, which, if not properly managed, can progress to end-stage kidney failure, requiring renal replacement therapy in the form of dialysis or a kidney transplant. For patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), the presence of caregivers and family members is the most important source of support. Purpose: To determine the physical and psychological impact of CKD on patients undergoing hemodialysis. Method: This literature review utilized databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct and included articles published between 2020 and 2024. Inclusion criteria included studies discussing physical activity, quality of life, and psychological aspects in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. Studies not available in English or Indonesian, as well as studies not relevant to the topic, were assessed in this review. The search yielded 14 articles, which were selected through keyword selection. Results: Physical activity is an important treatment and prevention measure for chronic kidney disease. The concept of "exercise as medicine" emphasizes that exercise not only helps improve physical function and muscle strength but also provides positive benefits in slowing the progression of chronic diseases. Conclusion: Physical activity such as aerobic exercise, resistance training, and other light exercise can reduce levels of depression and anxiety, improve sleep quality, and enhance perceived quality of life. Suggestion: More longitudinal studies and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are needed in Indonesia or other developing countries to assess the effectiveness of physical activity-based programs on the psychological aspects of CKD patients.   Keywords: Chronic Kidney Disease; Hemodialysis; Psychological; Physical Activity.
