    Using Feature Weights to Improve Performance of Neural Networks

    Different features have different relevance to a particular learning problem. Some features are less relevant; while some very important. Instead of selecting the most relevant features using feature selection, an algorithm can be given this knowledge of feature importance based on expert opinion or prior learning. Learning can be faster and more accurate if learners take feature importance into account. Correlation aided Neural Networks (CANN) is presented which is such an algorithm. CANN treats feature importance as the correlation coefficient between the target attribute and the features. CANN modifies normal feed-forward Neural Network to fit both correlation values and training data. Empirical evaluation shows that CANN is faster and more accurate than applying the two step approach of feature selection and then using normal learning algorithms

    A Generalized Method for Integrating Rule-based Knowledge into Inductive Methods Through Virtual Sample Creation

    Hybrid learning methods use theoretical knowledge of a domain and a set of classified examples to develop a method for classification. Methods that use domain knowledge have been shown to perform better than inductive learners. However, there is no general method to include domain knowledge into all inductive learning algorithms as all hybrid methods are highly specialized for a particular algorithm. We present an algorithm that will take domain knowledge in the form of propositional rules, generate artificial examples from the rules and also remove instances likely to be flawed. This enriched dataset then can be used by any learning algorithm. Experimental results of different scenarios are shown that demonstrate this method to be more effective than simple inductive learning

    THE CONSTRAINT FACTORS OF THE STUDENTS OF VOCATIONAL SCHOOL MAJOR COMPUTER ON THE LEARNING PROCESS OF COMPUTER NETWORK SUBJECT AT SMK PIRI 1 YOGYAKARTA

    The research aims to find out how big the factors from inside and outside that constraint student of vocational school major computer on the learning process of computer network subjects at SMK Piri 1 Yogyakarta. The research is descriptive quantitative research using questionnaires with Likert scale to collecting data. Respondents of the research are all students of class X and XI vocational school major in Computer Network SMK Piri 1 Yogyakarta, amounting to 74 students. Instrument validity Judged by experts and empirical validity Product Moment correlation analysis, while Instrument reliability test was calculated by Alpha Cronbach formula. The data analysis technique used statistic descriptive quantitative technique. The research results of the constraint factors in student learning is the percentage of states is very high 8.1%, 21.6% stated high, 44.6% stated average, 20.3% stated low, 5.4% said very low. Overall the constraint factor in a student learning from the category is normal. For the study of the obstacle factors in students is the percentage of 4% expressed very high, 25.7% stated high, 41.9% stated average, 18.9% stated low, 9.5% said very low. Overall the constraint factor of student learning from the category is normal, the results can give an idea that both constraint factors learning from inside and outside the students less inhibited them to learning process this result shows that physical, psychological, as well as factors of schools, families, and communities are less inhibited for students in learning process of computer network.     Empirical learning aided by weak domain knowledge in the form of feature importance

    Standard hybrid learners that use domain knowledge require stronger knowledge that is hard and expensive to acquire. However, weaker domain knowledge can benefit from prior knowledge while being cost effective. Weak knowledge in the form of feature relative importance (FRI) is presented and explained. Feature relative importance is a real valued approximation of a feature’s importance provided by experts. Advantage of using this knowledge is demonstrated by IANN, a modified multilayer neural network algorithm. IANN is a very simple modification of standard neural network algorithm but attains significant performance gains. Experimental results in the field of molecular biology show higher performance over other empirical learning algorithms including standard backpropagation and support vector machines. IANN performance is even comparable to a theory refinement system KBANN that uses stronger domain knowledge. This shows Feature relative importance can improve performance of existing empirical learning algorithms significantly with minimal effort

    Politik Hukum Adat Bima: Dari Sintesis, Transpalntasi Hingga Konservasi Hukum

    Tujuan peneltian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pola perkembangan hukum adat Bima dan melihat bagaiman politik hukum adat Bima serta eksistensinya pasca reformasi, sehingga diketahui kecenderungannya. Jenis penelitian adalah non-doctrinal atau socio legal (kualitatif), dengan pendekatan sejarah dan yuridis (historical and juridical approach), Data yang digunakan terdiri atas, data primer dan data sekunder. Hasil dari penelitian menemukan; (1) pola perkembangan hukum adat Bima terdapat, a) sitensis hukum, yaitu ketika hukum adat dan hukum Islam bertemu lalu saling mengisi, dan tidak terdapat konfrontasi diantara keduanya, b) transplantasi hukum, terjadi ketika sistem hukum kolonial merangsek ke dalam tatanan lokal dengan membatasi kewenangan lembaga peradilan Islam, yang menyebabkan kekosongan hukum, c) Integrasi hukum, ketika pemerintah pusat membangun politik hukum keseragaman lewat kodivikasi dan univikasi, (2) ketika reformasi berhembus, hukum adat Bima terpositivisasi, lewat berbegai bentuk kebijakan, seperti perda, (3) adalah komunitas masyarakat Donggo yang yang sampai saat ini masih menjalankan hukum adat, dengan segala kelentunturan dan berbagai bentuk sanksinya, mulai dari di nasehati, di nikahkan secara paksa, di pukul, di ‘baja’ (di arak keliling kampung), sampai pada pemberian sanksi ganda. Bertahannya hukum adat di Donggo akibat langsung dari upaya konservasi oleh berbagai pihak, poin dua dan tiga selain menjadi pola perkerkembangan hukum adat Bima (positivisasi dan konservasi) juga menjadi kecenderunganya pasca reformasi

    Penelitian yang dilakukan di SMP YPAI Rahayu berangkat dari beberapa masalah dalam penulisan surat dinas. pembelajaran menulis surat dinas dianggap sulit karena kurangnya  perbendaharaan kosakata yang dimiliki oleh siswa, rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah kesulitan siswa dalam menulis surat dinas, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menjawab rumusan masalah mengenai kesulitan siswa dalam menulis surat dinas, metode ini menggunakan metode jigsaw, subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII A berjumlah 26 orang, teknik pengumpulan data meliputi lembar tes dan diolah menggunakan Microsoft excel, hasil data penelitian ini mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 82,7 sangat tinggi tingkat keberhasilan siswa dalam menulis surat dinas. Pada penelitian ini peneliti mencoba untuk evaluasi hasil kerja siswa yang yaitu menulis surat dinas yang masih terdapat beberapa kesalahan diantaranya. (1) penggunaan bahasa baku dan bahasa tidak baku pada surat dinas, (2) penggunaan dan penempatan tanda baca, (3) penggunaan huruf kapital di dalam penulisan surat dinas, (4) kelengkapan struktur surat dinas. Metode yang digunakan dalam memecahkan masalah tersebut yaitu metode deskriptif kualitatif. sampel yang diambil adalah siswa kelas VII A. Dari data yang terkumpul diperoleh simpulan bahwa pembelajaran menulis surat dinas dengan menggunakan metode jigsaw dapat membantu siswa aktif dalam menulis surat dinas dengan sangat efektif karena jigsaw lebih mengkedepankan kekompakan kerja kelompok dalam proses pembelajaran

    Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsep, pelaksanaan dan hasil penerapan hukuman bagi peningkatan disiplin siswa di SMK Negeri 1 Pangkalan Bun Kabupaten Kotawaringin Barat Kalimantan Tengah pada tahun 2017 melalui pengalaman terbaik (best practice). Dengan penerapan hukuman berpengaruh sangat signifikan bagi peningkatan disiplin siswa. Hasil kerja penulis di lapangan menunjukan bahwa kedisiplinan guru piket melaksanakan pengawasan untuk menerapkan hukuman bagi siswa yang terlambat masuk/terlambat datang ke sekolah, baik disiplin menjaga piket maupun keliling kelas sangat efektif untuk mengendalikan keterlambatan siswa. Dengan penerapan hukuman tersebut berpengaruh sangat signifikan terhadap disiplin siswa sehingga tidak terbiasa lagi siswa SMK Negeri 1 Pangkalan Bun terlambat masuk sekolah

    Every citizen of Indonesia, of course longing for a fast, simple and low cost judicial process. This may be done everyone has an access to justice without any exception. These conditions have been realized by the Constitutional Court decision that had to cancel Article 31 of Law Number 18 Year 2003 on Advocates, because the article is considered contrary to the Constitution of 1945 and has no binding legal force. However, the implementation of the Constitutional Court ruling will not necessarily be implemented, because in practice there are still debates among law enforcer (police, prosecutors, judges, lawyers) even academics about the legal standing of the law lecturer who perform service in the form of assistance to disadvantaged communities who are dealing with legal issues. This condition is caused by a lack of positive response to the Constitutional Court, and the lack of response is due to the lack of legal resources by extracting the part of law enforcement and academics for a growing source of law.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Aqidah Akhlak pada materi taat dan taubat pada kelas VIII di MTsN 2 Tana Toraja melalui metode simulasi.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MTsN 2 Tana Jl. Poros Makassar-Tator Kel. Salubarani Kec. Gandangbatu Silllanan Kab.Tana Toraja Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini dilaksanakan sebagai upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang muncul didalam kelas.Penelitian ini menerapkan metode simulasi. Metode simulasi digunakan dalam rangka meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi aqidah akhlak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan bahwa pembelajaran Aqidah Akhlak melalui penerapan metode simulasi mengalami peningkatan hasil belajar.     THE EFFECT OF KCN ON GOLD ADSORPTION FROM HCl SOLUTION BY SYNTHESIZED MAGNETIC ACTIVATED CARBON COMPOSITE FROM IRON SAND

    The composites of magnetic activated carbon has been successfully synthesized by utilizing the available materi- als abundant in the country such as iron sand, and other chemicals which are easily procured in local markets at low prices. The phase identifi cation using X-ray diffraction technique showed that the magnetic part is Fe3O4 with crystallite size about 30 nm. The effectiveness of gold absorption from chloride solution by activated carbon magnetic composites are close to 100% and showed very dependent on pH. An addition of KCN in to the gold chloride solution can reduce effectiveness of activated carbon to adsorb gold by up to 20%. These might be caused by the formation of Au(CN)2-, in the solution, which could change the mechanism of adsorption of gold by the activated carbon. Based on these experimental results, by using chloride it is possible to recover valuable minerals from the ore processing of mining, which are economically,as well as environment friendly and safe
