    Development of Learning Devices Based on Realistic Mathematics Education to Improve Students’ Critical Thinking Ability at MAN 1 Tanjung Pura

    This study aims to: 1) develop the learning devices based on RME that meet the valid, practically, and effective criteria; 2) improvement of critical thinking ability of senior high school students by using learning devices based on RME developed. The type of this research is a development research. The development model used is Four-D Model which consists of 4 stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of the study show that: 1) the learning devices based on RME developed meet the valid criteria, both in the content validity and construct validity; 2) the learning devices based on RME developed meet the practical criteria, practically in terms of: a) validator assessment about ease of use of learning device, and b) implementation of learning devices. 3) the learning devices based on RME developed meet the effective criteria, effectiveness in terms of: a) students' learning mastery in a classical way; b) achievement of learning objectives; c) learning time; and d) students' positive responses; 3) An increased in students' critical thinking ability by using learning devices based on RME.     Communication Styles During Teaching Learning Process in EFL Classroom

    This research was aimed to analyze communication styles during teaching learning process in classroom. The research was conducted by using qualitative descriptive design. The data of this study were the utterances of teaching learning process in a classroom which is a conversation classroom in an English Institution Course, which was transcribed into the written form. The conclusion that can be drawn is that all of the types of communication styles basically occurred in the teaching and learning process. The types of physical communication styles are aggressive, passive, passive – aggressive, and assertive. In the teaching and learning process, assertive communication styles was the dominant communication style happening in the process for 67%, followed by Passive as 16%, passive – aggressive 12%, and aggressive 5%. It showed that the assertive communication style is the dominant style that is used in teaching and learning process as this style is the good style to comfort people while communicating each other. So, to convey message especially in teaching learning process, it is needed an effective communication to achieve the nature of the learning itself

    Penerapan Pendekatan Matematika Realistik Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis

    This research aimed to find out: (1) the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education to improve students' mathematical communication skills and (2) the increase of students' mathematical communication abilities using the Realistic Mathematics Education. This is classroom action research used Kemmis and Taggart model design with four stages, namely Planning, Action, Observation and Reflection. The instruments used were tests of students' mathematical communication skills, questionnaires, observations and interviews. The research subjects were 36 students in class VIII grade of MTs Ar-Royyan. From data analysis, it was found that in cycle I students' mathematical communication skills reached 73.61% which meant achieving the level of classical learning completeness and in cycle II it was 86.11%. In other words, there was an increase in students' mathematical communication skills by applying the Realistic Mathematics Education

    Experiential Function in Students’ Writing Recount Text

    The research was aimed to find out the experiential function in recount text of MA Ar-Royyan students. This research was conducted by qualitative data analysis. The subject of this study were the students of MA Ar-Royyan. They were as the source of the data in the research. The data was the recount text of the students’ writing assignment of tenth grade of MA Ar-Royyan. The conclusion in the study were: in term of ideational meaning analysis indicates that the students‘ recount texts draw on the students‘ experience in particular place and time. The occurrence of process, participants and circumstances are exist in the students‘ recount texts.  From the text, there are some process that were realized in the students‘ recount texts such as material, mental, existential, relational process. Not all of the process existed in the students’ text. They used some circumstances such as extent, location, manner and accompaniment. In term of ideational meaning, the process drives the students to choose the right vocabularies in composing their texts. Then from the textual meaning, the students are able to coherent the paragraph in their texts

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode pembelajaran Talking Stick terhadap pemecahan masalah siswa di MTs Negeri 2 Labuhanbatu, baik dalam bentuk tertulis maupun non tes berupa lembar observasi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu, dimana populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII MTs Negeri 2 Labuhanbatu, sedangkan populasi eksperimennya adalah 60 siswa yang sampelnya terdiri dari 30 siswa kelas VII-A sebagai kelas dan Kelas VII-B sebanyak 30 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol dengan waktu penelitian dari bulan Januari sampai dengan Juli 2020. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah metode pengujian hipotesis. Hasil hipotesis parsial dengan menggunakan uji-t menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Talking Stick berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa MTs Negeri 2 Labuhanbatu. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan thitung>ttabel yaitu 4,851>1,679 maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, sehingga terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan metode pembelajaran Talking Stick terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas VII-A MTs Negeri 2 Labuhanbatu

    Pengembangan LKPD Berbasis Etnomatematika untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Siswa

    Hal yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini ialah peserta didik mengalami kesulitan dalam menghubungkan peristiwa sehari-hari dan kebudayaannya ke dalam tulisan dan simbol matematika dan guru belum mampu mengembangkan LKPD yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengembangan lembar kerja peserta didik berbasis etnomatematika dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Pengembangan dengan model pengembangan 4D, yang melalui empat tahapan. a) define, b) design, c) development  dan d) disseminate. Subjek dari penelitian ini ialah siswa kelas VII-ABY MTsS Ar-Royyan Sidorukun, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui tes dan angket. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan melalui tes kevalidan, keefektivan dan kepraktisan. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan kevalidan yang dilihat dari uji valid oleh validator dengan rata-rata nilai 3,75 pada kategori sangat valid, kepraktisan dilihat dari penilaian validator mudah digunakan, respon guru dan siswa positif dan angket respon siswa diperoleh 94,2% dengan kategori sanagat positif dan keefektivan dilihat dari ketuntasan nilai klasikal siswa didapatkan 88% siswa mendapatkan nilai 75 dan waktu pembelajaran yang digunakan sama dengan pembelajaran biasa. Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dilihat dari peningkatan pada setiap indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada uji coba I 66,67% meningkat pada uji coba II dengan rata-rata 86,67 %. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa LKPD berbasis etnomatematika dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa

    ABSTRAKDi era millennial sekarang ini semakin banyak orang yang menggunakan media digital termasuk siswa dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan betapa pentingnya bagi guru dan siswa untuk melek digital karena membantu memahami dan menggunakan media digital, khususnya media pendidikan dengan lebih baik. Salah satu upaya meningkatkan literasi media adalah melalui pelaksanaan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat berupa diskusi dan pemberian pengetahuan yang diselenggarakan di MTS Ar-Royan Kecamatan Pangkatan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi literasi media generasi muda yang masih usia sekolah dalam menghadapi hoax. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan dalam bentuk lokakarya yaitu teknik penyampaian materi dilakukan secara luring. Teknik penyampaian materi yang digunakan adalah ceramah bagaimana pemanfaatan media sosial yang tengah trend saat ini dilakukan. Siswa di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ar-Royyan dapat belajar lebih banyak melalui kegiatan ini, khususnya tentang Literasi Digital. Hal ini diharapkan dapat membantu siswa untuk lebih cerdas dan berhati-hati dalam menggunakan media sosial, terutama dalam hal informasi digital, identitas digital, dan jejak digital.Kata kunci: literasi digital, media sosial, hoax, Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ar-RoyyanABSTRACTIn the millennial era where more and more people are using digital media, including students and teachers. This activity aims to improve the media literacy competence of the younger generation who are still of school age in dealing with hoaxes. Community service is carried out in the form of workshops, namely the technique of delivering material is carried out offline. The technique of delivering the material used is a lecture on how to use social media which is currently a trend. Students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ar-Royyan can learn more through this activity, especially about Digital Literacy.     Abstract In the last week of September 2020, Covid-19 in Indonesia has infected more than 252,000 people. The spread of the virus through physical contact forces all countries to use social distance and physical distance to reduce interactions. On the educational side, the Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the prevention of face-to-face teaching and learning activities. All educational institutions must stop the learning process and replace it with online learning. Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, then affirmed this online learning by issuing a policy on online learning in case of an emergency spread of the Covid-19 virus. However, this online learning has provoked debate in the community over the preparation of the technology. The goal of this study was to analyze public opinion for online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in October 2020. The research carried out document-based text mining and feelings on Twitter data analyzed using the Naïve Bayes method. Analysis in that period found 25 percent positive sentiment, 74 percent negative sentiment, and 1 percent neutral sentiment. Several tweets showed that the words ‘stress’ and ‘covid’ were the most commonly spoken in the month.</jats:p

    Determining symmetry groups ongeometric builds using reflection and rotation tests

    Abstract This research is motivated by the researcher’s desire to see the folding and rotational symmetry in geometric shapes whether they meet the symmetries for certain aspects and form a group. The method used in testing the symmetry of a group in geometric shapes is by testing reflection and rotation with a combination of linear and abstract algebra using an ordered matrix, where the geometric shapes are traced on each particular aspect until they meet the symmetry. From the results of the method used, it is found that the triangles to the octagon groups are symmetrical through the test of rotation and reflection of the geometric shapes. Thus, it can be concluded that group symmetry occurs up to the order of eight in geometric shapes. Based on the pattern, starting from the pentagon it is not a symmetry group, the hexagon includes the symmetry group, the heptagon is not a symmetry group, the octagon includes a symmetry group, then the nonagon is not a symmetry group and the decagon belongs to the symmetry group</jats:p
