From Jyoti to Jasmine: Mukherjee's Quest for Hybrid Identity in Jasmine
Abstract: The present paper investigates the empowering force of
hybridity in female diasporant in Bharati Mukherjeeās outstanding novel
Jasmine. The novel depicts Jasmineās journey of transformation from a
passive, traditional girl at the mercy of fate in a village in India to an active,
modern, and most importantly cross-cultural hybrid woman in America. All
through the novel, her identity is transformed in line with shifts in her name
from Jyoti to Jasmine to Jazzy to Jane. Accordingly, she stands in-between two
cultures, shuttles between identities, welds opposing identities, enters the third
space and emerges as a hybrid. The present study in the light of Homi Bhabha's
insights seeks to demonstrate that immigrating, experiencing displacement and
in-betweenness, and being positioned in the third space pave the way for
Jasmineās becoming a hybrid and being liberated. Besides, the study is to
depict by creating a hybrid character, Bharati Mukherjee, the author, alludes to
her own very hybridity
20 year evolution of GlyadermĀ® dermal regeneration matrix:the first non-commercial dermal regeneration matrix
The research of Dr. Pirayesh encompassed a series of carefully planned studies ranging from laboratory research to clinical applications. The goal was to develop and validate GlyadermĀ® as an effective dermal replacement. Long-term studies have shown that GlyadermĀ® can be effectively integrated with autologous skin grafting after wound bed preparation, resulting in reduced costs and morbidity. In a prospective, randomized clinical study, the effectiveness of GlyadermĀ® and autologous skin grafting was confirmed. This combination was found to be non-inferior to standard treatment in terms of graft uptake, scar scales and color. In addition, the two-stage procedure with GlyadermĀ® showed superior elasticity and better results in visual scar evaluation.GlyadermĀ® has proven to be an effective choice for burn treatment, with beneficial outcomes and a positive impact on patients' quality of life
Od tradicije do suvremenosti: Ninina potraga za hibridnim identitetom u romanu Imigrantica Manju Kapur
The paper explores the liberating power of Bhabhaās concept of hybridity in Manju Kapurās novel The Immigrant. By concentrating on Ninaās immigration to Canada, the novel addresses her early affliction due to the cultural clash between the East and West, tradition and modernity, her assimilation problems, as well as her gradual assimilation, her in-betweenness, transformation in her roles and identity, and survival in the host world. She opens a space in-between the home and host culture, mediates between them, and becomes the citizen of two worlds; she thus enters the third space, i.e. she stands in-between two cultures prioritizing neither the home nor the host culture but the middle ground and emerges as a hybrid who occupies the in-between space and develops a double vision. Using Homi Bhabhaās insights, this study seeks to demonstrate that being positioned in the third space, i.e. moving beyond the polarities and challenging the fixedness of identity and experiencing in-betweenness ā being neither one nor the other, might pave the way for her liberation. The paper is to show that Nina is neither one nor the other, i.e. neither a traditional nor a modern woman but both, simultaneously transcending and reconciling the tradition and modernity. Nina nije ni tradicionalna ni suvremena žena nego oboje jer istovremeno i nadilazi i pomiruje tradiciju i suvremenost
Firm Size and Audit Regulation and Fraud Detection: Empirical Evidence from Iran
An auditor has the responsibility for the prevention, detection and reporting of fraud, other illegal acts and errors is one of the most controversial issues in auditing, and has been one of the most frequently debated areas amongst auditors, politicians, media, regulators and the public (Gay et al 1997). Prior research has documented a positive association between audit quality and auditor size. While some studies have used audit fee as a surrogate for audit quality, other studies have employed more direct measures, such as the outcomes of quality control reviews. Those latter studies, however, used samples that suffer from severe geographic or client type restrictions. Moreover, most studies of the quality-size relationship have focused on relatively large CPA firms. In recent years there has been considerable debate about the nature of audit practice (Salehi, 2007). Auditors also have responsibility regarding accuracy and precise of statements prepared by managers
Anatomical Variations in the Course of Labial Arteries: A Literature Review
Background: Nonsurgical lip enhancement using dermal fillers is a very popular procedure. The trend for enlarged lips has been popularized by media and social media. The lips have considerable aesthetic and functional importance, in addition to having a complex anatomy. Serious complications, including vascular compromise or occlusion leading to cutaneous necrosis and blindness, can occur as the result of lip enhancement using dermal fillers. Therefore, aesthetic practitioners require an in-depth understanding of the anatomy and vasculature of the lips and the perioral area prior to providing lip enhancement using dermal fillers. Objectives: This literature review aimed to summarize existing data describing the origin, path, and depth of the superior and inferior labial arteries, and to help aesthetic practitioners in providing safer injections to the lips. Methods: A literature search was carried out to summarize the available data describing the origin, path, and depth of the labial arteries. Results: Analysis of the literature revealed that the labial arteries display great variability with respect to path (distribution), presence, and location. Conclusions: Increasing the volume of lips through injections of dermal filler needs to be undertaken with caution, and awareness of the anatomical variation in artery location and path is a crucial concept that is essential when injecting the lips

Abnormal focal 99mTc-DMSA uptake in the lung ā report of two cases
Extrarenal uptake of 99mTc-DMSA is a rare finding, which has been described in some unusual conditions as bone metastasis, aortic aneurysm and hemangioma. The purpose of this report is to present two cases of abnormal 99mTc-DMSA uptake in the lungs, which remained unexplained even after radiologic assessment
